The palms can grow to 200 feet in height and can be found in the Central and Eastern Andes of Colombia at elevations between 2,000 and 3,100 meters (6,600 and 10,200 feet).

Chamaerops humilis cerifera and Phoenix dactylifera in their natural habitats in the High Atlas Mountains. Most of the Silver Chamaerops one sees in habitat is very low ground cover, but occasionally, on steep slopes or in stream beds you can see some with several feet of trunk. They tend to be most common at elevations between 4,000-5,000 feet. The only place in the world where the Coccothrinax boschiana palm grows is on this isolated limestone cliff on the Barahona Peninsula, Dominican Republic. Thanks to Leonel A. Pseudophoenix vinifera habitat in Azua, Dominican Republic. The Pseudophoenix vinifera grows in 4 locations on the island of Hispaniola. In the Dominican Republic it grows in the hills outside the town of Azua and it also grows near Jimani. In Haiti it survives between Poteau and Passe Reine (Dep. de l’Artibonite) and near Source Matelas (Dep. de l’Ouest). The drone video above is the population just outside Azua. Taking a break from palms and going back to my roots. The River Stour, Dedham Vale, whose beauty was captured by the great 19th Century painter John Constable, and which marks the boundary between Essex and Suffolk, was the place where I spent the majority of my childhood.
