A Father, Son, & Mountain | Genesis 22
In Genesis 22 of the Bible, we are told of Abraham taking his son Issac up the mountain for a sacrifice for God. This passage gives many people issues for obvious reasons but many miss the bigger takeaways. A burdened father, offering his son in place of a sacrificial lamb. A son carrying the wood for the sacrifice up the mountain. God stepping in to provide a lamb as the sacrifice, thus "saving" Issac.
This story represents a tremendous typology from Old Testament to New Testament in Christianity. On the same mountain, Jesus would carry a wooden cross up a mountain to be a sacrificial lamb, as part of God the Father's plan for salvation.
