10am – BM. Loose.
2pm Lunch. 6” sub. Cold cuts.
6pm – Dinner. 2 hot dogs (no buns) and chili.

Blood sugar – 117
11:30am – Breakfast. 2 scrambled eggs. Slice of ham steak.
2pm – BM.
5:30pm – Dinner. Shrimp, sausage, potato, corn on the cob boil.
7pm – Bag of popcorn. I’ll regret it. Last time woke in middle of the night with stomach pains.

7am – I was right about the popcorn I ate last night. Again, woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pains and feeling like I overate. No more popcorn at night for me.
5pm – Dinner. 8 oz steak. Shrimp and sausage.
8pm – Handful of peanuts.

Weight this week (Week 3): 180.2 lbs

Gain/loss this week: 0.4 lbs
Sleep – Not as great as last week. Had a few nights where I woke up in the middle of the night.
Mood – Still have a much better disposition and outlook on life. I have been concerned about my higher sugar level averages this week. It’s true, I have been snacking on nuts and popcorn more this week. It’s probably my fault. Or, it’s time to increase the dose. Will call the doctor this week and discuss.
BMs still inconsistent. Maybe it’s my diet? I’ll have to have a closer look at that. I’ll be constipated for a few days….then have loose stools for a day or two. Probably due to the Miralax I’m taking to loosen the stools. Still learning my new reality.
No headaches or queasiness this week.
I’ve eaten more this week than the last few weeks. Not much more. A few nights where I was feeling snackish so had a bag of popcorn or a handful or two of peanuts or cashews. Still easily avoiding the sugar stuff. Still have had no interest in drinking diet soda. So weird.

Normally I’d help myself to a hefty portion of roast and gravy but I’ve learned that I can only handle about ¼ of what my portions used to be. Had a couple spoonfuls of mashed potato. Terrible gas all day. Both ends!

Mood – Continued success! There’s been a few times this week that something happened in my life that would have made me lose my temper just a month ago. Instead, I’ve been calm and collected. The idiots that I’m forced to share the roads with no longer make me as angry as I used to get. BMs have been inconsistent. Good and bad. Constipation and very loose stools. Not exactly diarrhea. Does your body ever adjust and get back to normal on Mounjaro. Is this something I’m just going to have to get used to while on this stuff?No headaches or queasiness this week.I’m eating far less. When I do reach for a snack it’s an apple, peanuts, and once this week, a bag of pop-corn. Weirdly, I’ve not drank a diet coke since I started on this stuff. I used to get a thirst that only a diet coke could quench. Don’t even think about it now. Coffee in the morning. Water and water mixed with an sugar-free electrolyte is my go-to now.I do get a bloated feeling quite often now. Even when I haven’t eaten anything in a while.

Blood sugar – 123
5:30am – BM. Not solid but plenty of it.
8:00am – Coffee! Not feeling hungry. Skipping breakfast.
10:50am – BM. More solid than this morning. Good amount. Bloated feeling is lessened…but still feel like there’s more.
1:50pm – Lunch. Sandwich on whole wheat.
5:15pm – Ate a handful of cashews.
6:30pm – Dinner. BLT minus the T on whole wheat.

3:30pm – Lunch/Dinner. 2 egg cheese omelet. 2 slices of SPAM.
Not at all hungry today. Ate anyway as wife insisted I eat “at least something”.

2:00pm – Lunch. Half a sandwich. Not hungry really. Felt stuffed after half. Couldn’t eat any more.

2pm – Thanksgiving dinner. Quarter portioned all foods. Ate less than ¼ of what was on the plate. Not hungry at all.
7pm – Small slice of Pumpkin pie. I know my blood sugar is going to be mad tomorrow morning…..but a guy has to live ya know!?

Sleep – Another restful week! Stopped drinking fluids about 2 hours prior to bed. A few nights I was actually able to sleep all night without having to get up for the restroom. Most nights I’m still getting up once a night. Much improved from 2-3 a night before starting treatment on my diabetes.
Mood – Mood is again much improved. Stress is almost non-existent. Is it the better sleep I’m getting? Is it blood sugar related? Whatever it is…I hope it stays this way!
Had some diarrhea this week. Few days in a row. Also have had constipation. No BM in last 2 days.
No headaches or queasiness this week.
Thanksgiving. I thought this would be a tough day on both my blood sugar and eating. I love to eat and I’ve always been able to make the excuse on why it was ok to eat as I like on holidays like this one. This time it was different. I could smell this fixins getting cooked all day and looked forward to dinner. When we sat down I realized that, although everything smelt great….I wasn’t really hungry. I put a small amount of most offerings on my plate. ¼ of what I’ve dished myself in the past. I was only able to eat about ¼ of that small plate before feeling too full to finish. Crazy! I normally will have 2 heaping helpings on Thanksgiving. I left the table feeling full! Later I had a slice of Pumpkin pie. Had too. A guy’s gotta live. It was delicious but I paid for it this morning with my highest blood sugar all week! 164.

3:30am – Bowel movement.
7:00am – Bowel movement again. Still feels like I need to be around the toilet for more.
5pm – Dinner out. Ken’s Steakhouse in Amber OK. 12oz sirloin. Baked potato (sour cream/butter), salad with Ranch dressing. Texas toast. Only ate ¼ of the steak. Took home for a meal later. Totally full from the salad and potato (ate the whole thing).

No breakfast. Not hungry at all.
11:30 – Bowel Movement.
5pm – Dinner. Hamburger on bun. Ate and extra patty with no bun.
13 November 2023, Monday
Blood sugar: 141 (9:00am)
No breakfast. Not hungry.
9:00am – Small bowel movement.
12:00pm – Lunch. 2 eggs scrambled. Cheese added. Corned beef hash. (This is one of those ‘I could eat’ situations when my wife asked if I’d like breakfast for lunch).
5pm – Dinner. Bowl of Jambalaya.

AVERAGE blood sugar this week = 146.28
Weight: 183.6
Last week’s weight: 185 lbs
Gain/loss: -1.4 lbs
Much better sleep this week. Waking up, on average, twice a night. Big improvement of 3-4 times a night.
Was hoping that my blood sugar would be below 120 by now. Something to discuss with the Doctor. Do NOT want to be prescribed Metformin. Been on that. Not pleasant.
Mood is much improved. Irritability over the small stuff is almost non-existent. Feeling less stress in situations that used to cause me stress. Better sleep?
No headaches this week.
Fairly regular BMs this week. Small…..but probably due to much smaller portions.
Hunger has been much less this week.
Burps are still there. Less frequent and for sure less smelly. Probably set a personal record for a burp this week. Loud and long!
No queasy feeling waking up this week.
All in all, side-effects seem to be less and less severe.

Vlog 1. My intro to the world of Mounjaro. Although I need to lose weight for sure, I really need to control my diabetes, so that's primarily why I am starting up on the Mounjaro once-a-week injection. Today is day one in a vlog series that I plan on updating every week or or so. My starting blood sugar is 474. My starting weight, 182 lbs. Starting out with the 2.5mg dosage.
