Gaza hospitals turn away the injured as fuel supplies run out
Only the most serious emergency cases are now being treated in Gaza hospitals as fuel supplies run out, according to the United Nations.
Israel is blocking supplies of fuel, food and water from entering Gaza, following the Hamas attacks that killed 1,400 Israeli citizens.
The UN is warning that all humanitarian operations are likely to come to a halt in Gaza in the coming hours due to the lack of fuel.
The Palestinian authorities say that more than 700 people were killed in Gaza by Israeli air strikes for the second day in a row.
Israel says it’s blocking fuel deliveries because they could be used by Hamas for military purposes. It accuses Hamas of stockpiling huge quantities of fuel.

“700 killed in 24 hours” as UN accuses Israel of breaking international law
The head of the United Nations has accused Israel of “clear breaches of international humanitarian law that we are witnessing in Gaza”.
More than 5,700 people are reported to have been killed by the Israeli attacks in Gaza, among them around 2,300 children, according to the Palestinian authorities.
Israel has stepped up its airstrikes in Gaza and the authorities there say that 700 people have been killed in the past 24 hours. Around 1.4 million people have been displaced from their homes.
The assault on Gaza follows the attacks on Israeli communities by Hamas gunmen who murdered 1,400 people, most of them civilians, and seized more than 200 hostages.
Israel condemned the comments by Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, at a meeting of the Security Council. Israel’s ambassador to the UN called on Mr Guterres to resign.
Israel also rejected calls from many countries at the UN for a ceasefire and insisted it would fight on until it had destroyed Hamas.

Gaza hospitals stopping some services as UN warns fuel runs out tonight
Hospitals in Gaza are stopping all but life-saving operations, with fuel supplies needed to power medical equipment running low.
The UN – the biggest aid provider on the ground in Gaza – says that unless it gets fresh supplies, its fuel will run out tonight.
On Tuesday, only eight aid vehicles were allowed to enter Gaza, while agencies say at least 100 lorries a day are needed.
Israel is stopping new fuel supplies from entering Gaza, as they accuse Hamas of stockpiling hundreds of thousands of litres meant for humanitarian purposes.
"Fuel deliveries must be let in to ensure people have clean drinking water, hospitals can remain open and life-saving aid operations can continue," The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on social media platform X.

“Einstein was wrong”- new study of Universe poses fundamental questions
Astronomers have created the biggest ever model of the evolution of the Universe, from the Big Bang to the present day, using one of the world’s most powerful super-computers.
The model was based on Einstein’s general theory of relativity, the accepted theory for explaining the structure of the Universe.
However the results suggest there may be problems with Einstein’s work, which predicts how matter should have spread out over the 13.8 billion years since the Big Bang. The results of the new model, called the Dark Energy Survey, show significant differences from Einstein’s predictions.
