Filming Wild Leopards in India - Wildlife Documentary Behind The Scenes
Behind the scenes on one of my big cat documentary shoots about Indian Leopards. I've completed 31 full days of filming and I've got many more to go. It's a constant battle to cling on to sanity whilst chasing a subject that's evolved to disappear on command. I can't tell you how many times we've passed them within a few meters' reach and without the slightest notice of them.
This wildlife documentary will be filmed through the remainder of 2023 and a little of 2024 with director-producer Aishwarya Sridhar.

Photographing Birds in the TREE OF FIRE - Welcome to my Mumbai Rooftop
Every year, when the Mumbai summer is at its peak, the trees that caress my rooftop turn into a paradise for several species of urban birds. It's the time of the year, just before the monsoons, when the Gulmohar and African Tulip trees bare vibrant, flowers. These fiery blooms are a bird photographer's delight, adding the choicest of nature's hues into the composition.

Urban BIRD WATCHING in Mumbai City - Enjoy World Wildlife Day 2023 right at HOME
We share our urban landscapes with a plethora of avian diversity, yet only a tiny fraction of us city folk know about it.
This World Wildlife Day, my wife Akshita and I want to encourage budding bird watchers and nature enthusiasts to explore the natural world thriving outside our very own balconies.
Grab a pair of binoculars this weekend, and let your auditory senses guide you to where the birdsong is. Be patient, be silent, and in time... you'll meet the best neighbours that you most likely never knew you had.
In the last three years that I've been visiting my rooftop, I've sighted 20 species. Other suburbs of Mumbai (or anywhere else) are home to many more!
Here's everything I've sighted from home
- Common Tailorbirds
- Purple-Rumped Sunbirds
- Coppersmith Barbets
- Rose-Ringed Parakeets
- Alexandrine Parakeets
- Indian Paradise Flycatchers
- White-Throated Kingfishers
- Shikras
- Ashy Drongos
- Red-Vented Bulbuls
- Scaly-Breasted Munias
- Indian Silverbills
- Indian Grey Hornbills
- White-Spotted Fantails
- Asian Koels
- Little Egrets (in passing flight)
in addition to the common species like Black Kites, House Sparrows, House Crows and Rock Pigeons.
Let me know which species reside near you! 😃
P.S. Mrs. Agarwal approves this message.

The Canon RF 800mm f5.6 is an absolute LEGEND of a lens!
He who believes that Africa is the Mecca of wildlife, hasn't explored the Western Ghats of India.
Later this year, I'll take you into one of my country's rich biodiversity hotspots and bring you a large bird of flight, whose features are strikingly prehistoric - meet the Great Hornbill.
We'll spend ample amounts of time with them, observe them up-close for a few months, and understand how they contribute to a flourishing ecosystem.
Thank you for sending this beauty across, Canon India.

Countryside BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY & Filming on the RED KOMODO in 120 FPS | Part Of The Flock Ep4
Titled 'Pearl Thieves', episode 4 of Part Of The Flock focuses on creating detailed close up imagery of Vernal Hanging Parrots as they raid a pearl millet plantation in the countryside of India.
In addition to bird photography, we'll also be filming on the RED Komodo in 6k 50fps and 2k 120fps, revealing exactly how the Hanging Parrots feed on the millets. Animal and bird behaviour have always fascinated me, I hope these visuals evoke the same feeling for you.
Additional behind the scenes shot by my good friend Kiyan Mugaseth.
Special thanks to Accord Equips for sending me the RED Komodo. Accord Equips is a leading camera, video and audio equipment rental company based in Mumbai and Pune. Get in touch with them for your personal and commercial shooting requirements https://www.accordequips.com
Still photographs were captured on my Canon 5D IV using the EF 200-400mm f4L IS USM with the inbuilt 1.4x teleconverter. The same lens was mounted on the Komodo.
Filmed at Shelar Farm near Saswad, Pune district. Many species of jungle and grassland birds flock around here. Contact Gaurav Shelar on +91 7756869182 if you'd like to visit for bird photography or bird watching. Remember not to use any playback bird calls to attract birds and discourage anyone else who does. Bird calls vary from territorial asserting, to mating calls, and alarm calls - so any playback can cause stress and hormonal imbalances just for the sake of a photograph. Keep bird photography ethical, keep shooting and keep telling stories. :)

Let There Be FLIGHT - The Extraordinary BIRDS OF INDIA | Planet Earth II & Hans Zimmer Tribute
With India having tremendously rich and varied habitats and ecosystems, it’s no surprise that the second most populous country in the world is also home to a plethora of avian diversity. According to Avibase (an online taxonomic database that organizes bird taxonomic and distribution data globally), there are 1,364 known species of resident and migratory birds that make up India’s great natural wealth.
In this short montage video that I filmed over the last 2 and a half years, I’ll take you into the forests, grasslands, wetlands, deserts and shores, and bring you some of the most breathtaking species that are out there.
From acts of courtship, to building nests, raising young ones and continuing life’s extraordinary journey, here’s bringing you an intimate glimpse into some of the birds of India.

Summers in central India can be a challenging place to raise young ones, especially for a bird. Whilst almost every species would be darting to the shade for cover, these Woolly-Necked Storks successfully raise two chicks without any protection from the sun. This mini scene will show you exactly what they do to beat the heat, a little behavioural adaptation called urohidrosis.
â–º Main Episode:
After filming in Pench and Kanha National Park last October, here's bringing you back into the jungles of central India. Now, the seasons have changed - we'll explore Satpura National Park during the peak of summer and witness how various species still manage to emerge and thrive.
Titled 'New Life', this episode features wild youngins of both land and sky. We'll understand what it means to grow up in the wild, and what it takes to be a parent during the most scorching time of the year. Whilst we're at it, we'll also experience a couple of night safaris and get intimate glimpses of wildlife after dark.

Wildlife Photography in Bandhavgarh National Park | TIGER COUNTRY Ep. 4 - A Royal Bloodline.
Welcome to a Tiger reserve that's a favourite of every wildlife enthusiast and nature lover - Bandhavgarh National Park. In the previous episodes of Tiger Country, we sighted and photographed several species that the jungles of Madhya Pradesh are home to. We documented Leopards, Sloth Bears, Barasingha, Jackals, Gaur, various birds and a whole lot more.
With Bandhavgarh having one of the highest densities of Tigers, it made sense to focus solely on them and film / photograph their behaviour. This approach gave us an incredible insight into a lesser-known social structure amongst them. Tune into the entire episode to find out exactly how the game of submission vs succession plays out.
Along the way, we'll also encounter the late Tigress, Spotty, months before her passing, as well as her young adult cub, 7A, as he feeds on an old Spotted Deer kill.
On a personal note, this visit to Bandhavgarh has been my most cherished wildlife expedition. The many landscapes are absolutely breathtaking and I saw a total of 17 Tigers spread across 8 safaris. Do subscribe if you haven't and I'll see you once again in the series finale of Tiger Country.
This series is co-produced by Pugdundee Safaris and Kenneth Lawrence.

How To Recover Lost Data - I Accidentally DELETED Rare 8K Wildlife Footage | Canon R5
Recover upto 100mb of Your Deleted Files for FREE: https://bit.ly/3nhJxYX
A full Guide to Photo Recovery: https://bit.ly/3xWJ6s7
During my latest visit to central India to film and photograph some of my country's incredible biodiversity for my Tiger Country series, I accidentally deleted some of the still images and footage in-camera before transferring it to my hard drive.
In an uncanny coincidence, a company called Wondershare reached out to me to make a video for their data recovery software called Wondershare Recoverit. Of course, the timing couldn't be better because Canon India sent me the EOS R5 to play with and most of the lost video was captured in 8K (IPB Lite for smooth workflow and manageable file sizes).
Check out the entire video to see how I recovered all my deleted data, and find out how you can as well. Not only was I able to recover the original files, but I've also processed and colour corrected them hassle-free. This video has glimpses of episodes 3 & 4 of Tiger Country, co-produced by Pugdundee Safaris. I'm happy to share that this is the first YouTube video to feature Tigers and other Indian wildlife in 8K.
Data recovery softwares are a prerequisite for professional filmmakers, photographers and content creators. Especially when working on projects with large-profile clients.
