On the run and behind bars: Justice Secretary wants more prison exercise
Every Saturday more than 800 locations across the country play host to parkruns - involving hundreds of thousands of people prepared to jog five kilometres around their local park, whatever the weather.
But in one corner of Northamptonshire - in common with twenty other sites across England and Wales - the runners are watched over not just by volunteers, but by guards and dogs.
Our Communities Editor Darshna Soni joined the inmates participating in a parkrun at His Majesty's Pleasure.

New measures to target spiking announced by government
Police get more than five hundred reports of spiking every month - on average, but just a fraction lead to charges - according to data from the Home Office. It's found that most of the claims come from women reporting incidents in and around bars and nightclubs.
The Government has just brought in new measures to crack down on spiking - so will that be enough to protect people?

Despair and anger as Israeli hostages shot by own forces
Despair and anger as Israeli hostages shot by own forces
The Israel Defence Forces acknowledged they killed three hostages kidnapped by Hamas, even though one brandished an improvised white flag, and another appealed in Hebrew for help.
Families of some of the hostages still being held in Gaza have expressed despair and anger as details emerged of what Benjamin Netanyahu has called an unbearable tragedy.
It is a catastrophic error in a military campaign that has now claimed many thousands of lives in Gaza.
It has prompted protests in Tel Aviv, and mounting disquiet about the government of a man who prided himself on protecting his citizens at all costs.

Putin makes emboldened speech - as EU opens Ukraine accession talks | Russia-Ukraine War
EU leaders have agreed to open membership talks with Ukraine and Moldova. Hungary's prime minister - Putin ally Viktor Orban - wasn't in the room when the EU voted and said he did not wish to participate in the "bad decision".
Despite that, it's a much-needed show of unity behind President Zelensky - who's hailed it as a victory for Ukraine and all of Europe.
It came hours after Vladimir Putin vowed there will be no peace in Ukraine until Russia achieves its goals.

COP28 ‘historic’ deal promises transition from fossil fuels
COP28 ‘historic’ deal promises transition from fossil fuels
It's just two words and they appear on just one page of an eleven thousand word document, but the inclusion of "fossil fuels" is historic. The final agreement of COP28 might be a compromise - but it has sent a clear signal that we need to stop burning the fuels which are so harmful to the planet.
The UN's climate chief admitted we haven't yet turned the page on the fossil fuel era, but he called it the beginning of the end.
Our Chief Correspondent Alex Thomson has this report.

COP28 anger as pledge to ‘phase out’ fossil fuels removed from draft text
We will not go silent to our watery graves - that's the warning from one of the small island nations most at risk from climate change - after a pledge to "phase out" fossil fuels was removed from the COP28 final agreement.
After intensive lobbying by oil rich nations - the draft text refers to "reducing" their use instead. Also absent are the words "oil and gas". And that's sparked a growing outcry - our chief correspondent Alex Thomson in the newsroom.

COP28: World leaders gather for climate summit
Climate change
Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, mainly caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels.
World leaders can't save the planet with a fire hose of fossil fuels - that was the warning from the UN chief Antonio Gutteres to the COP28 summit in Dubai, after scientists said that 2023 was set to be the warmest year in history.
The leaders also heard from King Charles - who urged them to take "genuine transformational action" to curb greenhouse gas transmissions, declaring that the "hope of the world" rested on their decisions.
From Dubai - our chief correspondent Alex Thomson reports.

Israel-Gaza: Hamas gunmen kill three Israelis as more hostages released on 7th day of truce
Two more Israeli hostages were freed from Gaza this afternoon - with more set to be released by Hamas later in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
But the fragility of the extended truce is clear - just hours earlier, two Hamas gunmen killed three Israelis and injured 13 others when they opened fire on people waiting at a bus stop in Jerusalem.
And Israel has warned it will defeat Hamas "no matter how long it takes".

Inside the Occupied West Bank with Israeli settlers
While the world is focused on Gaza, in the occupied West Bank tension is rising and violence is spiralling. UN figures show that since the 7th October, daily attacks by Israeli settlers on the Palestinian population there have more than doubled, forcing more than a thousand off their land.
Israel captured the West Bank after the war in 1967 and it has been under military occupation since. During the Oslo accords in the mid 1990s the land was divided, with some areas administered by the Palestinian Authority. But more than 60% of the land remained under full Israeli control.
Over the decades since then, hundreds of thousands of Israelis have established settlements there, considered illegal internationally - though Israel disputes that.
Our foreign affairs correspondent Secunder Kermani has been to the West Bank to speak to those, whose presence on land internationally recognised as Palestinian, is a fundamental obstacle to a two state solution.
Warning, this report contains violent scenes some might find distressing.
