"Dirty Laundry", (Jeremiah 13:1-27), 2022-10-02, Longbranch Community Church
Who, but Pastor John could build an entire sermon – and a great one at that – on …dirty laundry? His message was taken straight from God’s Word (Jeremiah 13:1-27). Just one of the great points made was the fact that God directed the writing of this particular chapter as a vivid illustration of just how tremendously his chosen people had disappointed him.
In addition to a today’s great sermon, Ms. Barbara’s talented hands danced soulfully over the ivories as we joyfully sang some truly wonderful olde fashioned hymns. We capped the morning by celebrating The Lord’s Supper. Today’s after church fellowship was a wonder as well; seems “many” contributed their culinary talent to a genuinely warm celebration of “heartfelt family time”.
*For those in a hurry, John’s incredibly unique sermon begins at 23 minutes / 20 seconds. Trust me; if you wondered why there might be a shovel leaning against the pulpit “…you won’t forget it!”

"Devotion", (Luke 5:16), 2022-09-25, Longbranch Community Church
Today, Pastor Sean wisely reminded us that making regular, personal, one-on-one time with our Almighty God should be a priority; Jesus did it – and we’d be wise to follow his example. The message: titled “Devotion” was inspired by Luke 5:16 and supported by many verses throughout the New Testament.
Musically speaking, Mr. Oliver’s beautiful guitar was indeed in fine form and – in Pastor John’s absence - we did our best stay on key. In addition to being an exemplary pastor, John is highly regarded as a musical “songbird”; we always miss him when he’s away. That said, Pastor Sean’s message & our much-loved after church fellowship was every bit as heartfelt & sincere as ever!
*For those in a hurry, Pastor Sean’s message starts promptly at the 20 minute / 37 second mark.

"Like a Lamb to the Slaughter", (Jeremiah 11:18 - 12:6), 2022-09-18, Longbranch Community Church
Today, well today… we feasted! Beautiful piano by Ms. Laura, gentle guitar by Mr. Oliver, a wonderful Gideon’s presentation given by Mr. Bill McKinney. Pastor John topped it all off with a sermon straight out of God’s Word (as per usual) on Jeremiah’s wrestling with God’s justice titled: “Like a Lamb to the Slaughter”.
Excuse me for editorializing, but I couldn’t help but be reminded of powerful words delivered by the towering pastors of yesteryear’s great awakening. Truly.., today was a wonderful day to be worshiping in one of the oldest and last remaining Pioneer Churches in the entire region: Longbranch Community Church.
*For those in a hurry, today’s Gideons presentation starts @ 22/13 and Pastor Johns masterful sermon begins @ 44minutes/22sconds.

"A Broken Covenant", (Jer 11:1-17, 12:7-17), 2022-09-11, Longbranch Community Church
Join with us as Pastor John delivers yet another remarkably old fashioned sermon delving into the excruciating details of Israel’s “Broken Covenant” with God. Taken from Jeremiah 11:1-17 & 12:7-17, John uses the marital relationship as an illustration. In addition to a sermon right out of yesteryear’s straight forward approach to biblical teaching, we tremendously enjoyed the bluegrass flavor of today’s worship music. Sadly though, today we say a temporary & seasonal good bye to SkipperDude & Babette who will be traveling back to Louisiana to spend quality time with their kids and grands.
As per usual, we welcomed new visitors and enjoyed a tremendous time of fellowship after church.

"Where He Leads", (Psalm 23), 2022-08-28, Longbranch Community Church
OhhhhMaaGoodnessssss; what a gorgeous morning to be in the house of our kind and merciful God…
The music was tremendous, prayer time was precious, the message was inspired, and the fellowship sweeter than a bee’s knees! Join us as Pastor John offered an insightfully inspired message titled: “Where He Leads”. This morning’s message was taken from Psalm 23 and was designed to be a refreshing palate cleansing break from our on-going study of the Book of Jeremiah.
In addition to hearing a great perspective on faith & obedience, we were completely blessed by the harmonies created by John, Ollie & Ms. Brook. What an incredible morning it was – and how fortunate are we - who call this old Pioneer Church our home.
*The video begins with some casual, yet gorgeous vocals, and then church officially begins at the 5/00 mark. For those in a hurry, today’s message starts at the 37minute / 25second mark.

Join with our Longbranch Community Church family today as Pastor John reminds us of “The Only Sure Thing”. Isn’t it amazing how often and how many of us put their faith in something other than Jesus? Sadly, it happens all the time to be sure; the problem is …it just won’t work. Listen & learn my friends!
Additionally, we were mightily blessed by Ms. Laura & Mr. Oliver’s soft and gentle touch on both the piano & guitar. How fortunate are we who call Longbranch Community Church – our home church!

"Get a Second Opinion", (Jer 8:4-9:9), 2022-08-14, Longbranch Community Church
When it becomes clear than the current moral decay has become so obvious – and leadership so hollow – especially if there seems to be no (biblical) leadership offered – any sane person would be wise to “Get a Second Opinion”. We would be as wise today to listen to Pastor John’s counsel as it would have been back in the days of the wise prophet Jeremiah. Listen and learn my friends!
Lastly, we bid Mike & Debbie Dunn a fond farewell today; we’ll be praying for safe travels and a gentle landing in Mississippi for our dear friends
*Today’s message was taken from Jeremiah 8:4 – 9:9, and begins promptly at the 30 minute / 43 second mark.

"Enough is Enough", (Jer 7:16 - 8:3), 2022-08-07, Longbranch Community Church
So… the question is: Does God’s mercy and grace spring from a never ending well, or, could there come a time when his (seemingly endless) grace & mercy are removed? Has he ever, or could he now, come to a place where he simply and finally says “enough is enough”? Listen in …and decide for yourself.
Join with our Longbranch Community Church family as Pastor John continues our verse-by-verse trek through the Book of Jeremiah. This message may come as a shock to some and is drawn directly from Jeremiah 7:15 – 8:3. Additionally, how bout that little-bit piano player? She aint real tall, but trust me: she’s looong on talent! Thank you Carol R for stepping up to bat this week; your gentle style brought many to tears of joyful appreciation – self included!
*For those in a hurry, this Sunday’s message begins promptly at the 22 minute / 49 second mark.
"False Security", (Jeremiah 7:1-15), 2022-07-31, Longbranch Community Church
“He gives the life, He keeps the life, but…”
Join our Longbranch Community Church family as Pastor John grapples with the conditionality of God’s promise of eternal security. It’s just as true today as it was in the days of Jeremiah & even before with Samuel at Shiloh. Bottom Line: Don’t be fooled; many have been lulled into a false sense of security by trusting in anything other than genuine faith …and active obedience.
*For those in a hurry, today’s message begins at the 23 minute / 51 second mark.

"Standing at the Crossroads", (Jeremiah 6:1-30), 2022-07-24, Longbranch Community Church
Many.., many centuries before Robert Frost penned his preeminently stellar piece: “The Road Not Taken” (which is outstanding btw), the prophet Jeremiah, under the spiritual guidance of the Holy Spirit wrote this: Thus says the Lord, “Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls.” (Jer 6:16a,b)
Given the complexities of modern day life, and the watered down spirituality many western churches currently profess, Pastor John’s message today could not possibly have come in a more timely manner. John’s sermon pays homage to both Frost and Jeremiah; with the obvious emphasis on the simple biblical wisdom and truths contained in Jeremiah Chapter 6: 1-30.
*Today’s message begins at the 21 minute / 35 second mark; …and it is outstanding!

"Justified Judgment", (Jer 5:1-31), 2022-07-10, Longbranch Community Church
Oh my goodness; today’s service at Longbranch Community Church was “absolutely stunning”. Pastor John’s message (on God’s “Justified Judgment”) was a masterpiece and Ms. Barbara’s piano has never sounded better. Sadly, we learned that this will be Ms. Barbara’s last day of piano accompaniment. To everything there is a season… and this very day was our last opportunity to enjoy the fruit of Ms. Barbara’s amazing gift.
Trust me when I say that John’s message was every bit as memorable as the music. Today’s sermon was drawn from Jeremiah 5:1-31 and dealt forthrightly with an issue that many today find unfathomable: Judgment. Spoiler alert: God judgment has been, …is, …and will be, both righteous and justified.
*Today’s service officially begins at 5/19 and the message begins promptly at the 34 minute / 07 second mark.

"Rush of Judgment", (Jeremiah 4:5-31), 2022-06-12, Longbranch Community Church
There is no doubt – whatsoever – that there are some sermons that are far easier to preach than others. This may well be one of those sermons. On the other hand, it is exactly these sermons that separate the men from the boys. Join with us as Pastor John unpacks Jeremiah 4: 5-31 dealing with God’s vengeful wrath and certain judgment at a time and towards an unrepentant populace who were not at all that different from us today.
This… is exactly why we at Longbranch Community Church are convinced we have a true man of God in the pulpit. This pastor does not back down, shy away, ignore or downplay “any” part of the bible. He preaches the entirety of God’s Word with clarity, confidence and charisma.
Ms. Barbara’s music was beautiful - as always - and the pews are definitely filling up. Apparently, there must be something to the combination of yesteryears powerful preaching and traditional hymns.
*Today’s service begins at 3/58, and John’s powerful, hard hitting message starts promptly @29minutes / 26 seconds.

"The Heart of the Matter", (Jer 3:6-4:4), 2022-05-29, Longbranch Community Church
If ever there was a time to understand, understand this now and understand it well: “The heart of the Matter” …is a matter of the heart. We… have a heart problem, we… are broken, and fallen. This is indeed a time for sackcloth & ashes. This is… the time for sincere repentance …and for revival dear brothers and sisters; the Gospel of Jesus is the only answer that can begin to heal our broken land.
Please be forewarned: This crystal clear message is a damming assault and utter repudiation of pretense – Christian and elsewise – this is a call to true and genuine repentance for ourselves and for the broken world we live in.
In addition to a stunningly clear, Pastor John message, as per usual, we were incredibly blessed by Ms. Barbara’s beautiful piano skills and a heartfelt alter call – the combination of which left this videographer so stunned that I am inclined to apologize for my lack of attention toward the end of our service.
*Today’s service starts officially @4min/07secs and the sermon starts @ the 35 minute/10 second mark.

Yep, he wept. He wept for you, for me, and for all of us who, at one time or another have chosen to deny our sin. But know this: “Sin has to be dealt with – it simply cannot be ignored and dismissed.” One way or another, dealing with our individual sin is both necessary and inescapable.
