'Elder abuse' Joe Biden repeats same story twice 'nearly word for word'
US President Joe Biden's competency has come under fire online after a White House pool report revealed he repeated the same story "nearly word for word" just minutes apart during a fundraiser on Wednesday.
The report noted that he told the same story about the events of Charlottesville in 2017 twice, nearly word for word, within a few minutes.
The incident reignited concerns about the 80-year-old president's age and mental state, a topic that has drawn criticism from both sides of the political aisle.
Critics on social media displayed doubt and sarcasm concerning the incident, challenging the notion that age should not be a matter of concern.
"It would be elder abuse if he runs again. He’s not making it to 86," Austin area attorney Adam Loewy wrote on X.
It follows a recent CBS News/YouGov poll revealing US voters are concerned about President Joe Biden's age and doubt he'll make it through a second term if he wins the 2024 election.
Only 34 per cent of registered US voters believe Biden would complete a second term if re-elected, with 44 per cent thinking he'd leave before it ended, and 22 per cent remaining unsure.
