Hatching Pigeon Eggs that were Not Supposed to Be
Pigeon eggs? Could I incubate those? Baby pigeons are so fragile.
I had to remove a nest. Two pigeon sisters had build it. Against all odds, two of their eggs contained life. I gave
them a chance in my incubator. They turned out to be ugly....
but so sweet.
It was a wonderful adventure to raise those pigeons and find them to be so much at ease with me. For those of you wondering... the food I gave them is made to mimic the crop 'milk' that pigeons produse to raise their chicks. The one I used is called Nutribird A21 (not sponsored)
I'm so lucky to be able to dedicate myself in taking care of these helpless creatures and sharing this with the world because of the help of our loving community.

Duckling thinks baby swan is her mon
A Duckling had just hatched in my incubator when I got a call. A one day old Swanling needed my care. How the baby duck reacted to the baby swan was a big surprise, even to me after decades of raising baby birds.

Stone cold egg rescue
A full nest of silkie eggs was in trouble after mom got attacked. I jumped in my car and took my sheep and my incubator along for the ride to a gas station, to meet the owner who had called me...
When I got the eggs I thought the chances for survival of the chicks inside were pretty slim....
But with a little bit of help, 9 out of 10 actually made it out into this world :)
Expect to see more of these two 'Showgirls' on my shorts channel soon!

Can one chicken hatch 43 eggs!
I got a call from a friend: for two weeks all eggs had been disappearing and now a chicken was gone too. After a short search, I discovered what was going on. Their 5 chickens had found a new place to lay their eggs, and now one of them had decided to incubate them all. :) Very sweet, but impossible. Eggs will warm up a little, start growing and then cool down and stop growing. Warm enough to not die, but too cold to grow. In a situation like this, only a few will
hatch, if any... and you know me.... The next hurdle was getting the mum to accept all of the chicks... I know this can be done, especially if I can make the chicks feel the warmth of their mum.
One last tip: mark already incubated eggs with an X. Like this you will be able to check what are fresh laid eggs by other hens.

What happens when a duck can't seen
A sweet duckling landed on my doorstep... obviously something was wrong. He wasn't growing like his siblings. The man who brought him to me (by now a friend) had called me and asked for my help. The least I could do is give this little bird a chance. So, he had trouble eating and he wasn't taking care of his feathers and getting way too wet.

This is the smallest bird I've ever hatched
This is the smallest bird I've ever hatched. After a little Finch had lost her partner, I was asked if she could stay in my big Aviary. When I returned home after picking her up, on the way back she had laid an egg in the little transport box! Birds only do this when they have an egg that needs to
be laid, I knew there was only a small chance she would accept and hatch this egg in an actual nest herself, but I wanted to try before I set plan B in motion...
