4/9/19 - Exploring Tbilisi, Georgia some more, we got on the metro and went to the train station to buy our tickets to Zugdidi, as part of our plans to go to one of the mountainous regions of Georgia - Svaneti. After getting the tickets we headed to the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi before heading to Wine Buffet for some delicious wines and cheese. 3/9/19 - We explored loads of Tbilisi in our first day: starting off in the old town where we were staying we went over the Bridge of Peace and into Like Park. From here we got the cable car to a great viewpoint where we visited the Narikala Fortress and the Mother of Georgia statue. After a big lunch we went to the Funicular and rode it up to the Mtatsminda Amusement Park to see an old soviet amusement park and watch the sun go down over the city. 1/9/19 - Tbilisi, Georgia - KHACHAPURI IS AMAZING. After a lovely time in Kiev (Kyiv), Ukraine, it was time for us to move on to travel Georgia! 1/9/19 - Kiev (Kyiv), Ukraine - a very chilled last day in Kiev, Ukraine, when we tried kvass, Lviv Handmade Chocolate and Ukrainian dumplings. We also saw many street performers and some people jumping off one of the bridges whilst we visited the Friendship Arch. 31/8/19 - Pripyat Ukraine - a surreal day visiting the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone near Kiev (Kyiv) Ukraine. After the Chernobyl HBO series, tourism to the Exclusion Zone has massively increased (by 40%!) This is what a day tour in Chernobyl is like. We visited abandoned villages and explored houses, shops and Houses of Culture. We saw the last remaining statue of Lenin in Ukraine. We ate lunch in Hotel Chernobyl where you can stay if you are doing a two-day tour. We saw some of the vehicles and robots used in the clean up process. We visited the New Safe Confinement for Reactor No 4. We visited the abandoned town of Pripyat, exploring different areas and even going up a 16 story apartment block to get a view over the whole city. We went with a company called Solo East. 30/4/19 - Donsol, Philippines - We decided to go to Donsol instead of Oslob to see the whale sharks in the Philippines. On top of snorkelling and swimming with the whale sharks, we went diving in Donsol in hopes of seeing a manta ray! We did our own research and found that this was the experience that we wanted and the way we wished to support whale shark tourism. We had a great time with our new friends, Jonay and Verónica, and, although we saw no mantas, were fortunate enough to seen a whale shark! Incredible! We went for a delicious lunch at Elysia Beach Resort and then headed back to our homestay, where we saw a local boy throwing rocks at a new kitten. We rescued her, fed and watered her, and our host decided to adopt her! All in all a busy day! 28/4/19 - Moalboal-Donsol, Philippines - we bumped into our friends and shared a private van back to Cebu, where we saw a church service taking place in a mall and I got my beard trimmed as my trimmer broke. We then went to the airport to catch a flight to Legazpi, where we got another van to take us to Donsol.
