Loosey Goosey Knit Collar Fix! (My version of the free Winter Bluff pattern by Ashley Lillis)
My version of this sweater was knit at a looser gauge with Caron Simply Soft yarn. The collar turned out bigger than I wanted, but I planned to make a folded collar to put a drawstring in for a sporty look anyway. Watch the video to see how I modified the loosely ribbed collar into the look I was going for!
From my notes:
"I did a quick Internet search for a “free knit sweater pattern” on google. The Winter Bluff pattern by Ashely Lillis was the second pattern in the list that was linked to it’s original designer which was my goal. I didn’t want to pull from any collaborative blog posts or from a pattern hub. It was an easy to download pattern with just an email requirement. She also has a video tutorial linked for this sweater on her YouTube channel. I did not watch it while knitting my sweater." Read all of my pattern notes here: https://www.maahomestead.com/blog1
You can find the pattern at: https://www.ashleylillis.com/blog/2022/1/13/free-knit-raglan-sweater-pattern-tutorial-the-winter-bluff-pullover

I tried a ZIPPER SEWING TRICK from Instagram!
I see cool stuff online I think I should try all the time.....then promptly forget about it. BUT this time, I tried it out the same day!
I regret that in my excitement I did not save the video or sharer's info- my bad. Thank you to whomever you are! It worked and I will be using it for future zipper installations when the need arises!

Watch me make a cloth doll! (Sleep Sack Baby)
I love turning scraps into something adorable! The Sleep Sack Babies came from my desire to use up fabric scraps and bits of leftover wools. Each baby is unique. The sleep sack outfit is not removable making this a good first baby doll for little ones. In most cases, the fabric used for the dolls' outfits are recycled from old sweaters or other materials. Thanks for watching!

Puppy ate her MITTENS!
He may be VERY large but he is still a puppy. Our St. Bernard got ahold of one of my daughter's hand knit mittens and ripped a few holes in them! She was super sad. But not to worry- I can fix it! This video shows how I repaired the holes and gave them a "kiss" making it all better. It is sped up to reduce your need to watch every detail since this not an actual tutorial. I do explain what is happening along the way. Enjoy! And don't despair when your handcrafts get eaten by the dog!

Not a Yarn-Over-it's an UN-RESOLVED Knit Stitch- Let's Fix It!
My friend texted me with concern that she had done something wrong but she didn't know what. She had tried searching knitting mistake videos, but still had no clue what was happening on her needles. So she sent me some pictures. I knew right away what the issue was-because I myself have done this, and it is a COMMON KNITTG MISTAKE with beginners.
No worries it is super simple to fix and takes only seconds.

***New Spin Fresh Off The Wheel! // Winding yarn around tree stumps//
I was bored with my normal yarn winding ventures. For some reason amongst all of my tools I don't actually have a Kniddy Knoddy nor do I have a Swift or even a ball winder......so today a couple of logs from the backyard will have to do!
I am winding off a spool of handspun that I first carded on my drum carder. It is a mixture of Pygora from right here on the homestead and various other fibers that were purchased.
**Note: The channel got a new name! I have updated the website so it was fitting that the channel should match. MAA stands for Mountain Acres Academy, which is what we have dubbed our homeschool for years, and also just happens to be the most common sound you here at our home from goats and the tiny humans running about.

Easy! Overnight Yogurt
I love it when I find easy ways to make wholesome foods from scratch. In this video I show the basic easy steps of making yogurt at home. We also experiment with adding a flavor with a jello mix. It turned out pretty good but I am still wanting to try some other sources to flavor it. Let me know what you have tried!
