My one month old was born nearly 6 weeks early so even though she still hasn’t hit her due date yet. We just had our first week with both of them home because she spent the first 21 days of her life in the NICU. This video is very casually done because I am sleepy and learning to juggle parenting, working, and .. sleeping. My two previous births were unmedicated mostly because I was afraid of an epidural and thought it would be cool to do it without meds. My pregnancy with this third baby was entirely different than with my first two kids and I knew I would consider an epidural, especially because I went into preterm labor and wasn't sure what kind of state my baby would be in when she arrived. I ended up getting one for this delivery and loved it. I am so thankful I did, though I also loved my unmedicated labors as well. Hopefully this video will help you feel more prepared! Whether you have an epidural, any other medication, an unmedicated labor, a home-birth, a water-birth, a c-section or anything else just know that you are amazing. Do whatever you need to do to keep you and baby healthy. Whatever story you have it is a success story. Our third child Juliette Dorothea Hover was born 19 days ago (6 weeks premature) and is still in the NICU here in Los Angeles. Here is a postpartum update and tips for other NICU parents. She is growing steadily but remains in the NICU because she is struggling with reflux which is leading her to experience bradycardia. Our daughter was born October 17,2020 and she was 6 weeks premature. Thankfully she arrived really healthy for a premie, but she still needed to be taken to the NICU soon after her birth. The pregnancy was a surprise, Covid made pregnancy weird, plus my son was 8 months old when I discovered I was pregnant. Then I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks which has never happened to me before. The bedrest thing too... that was a first. With my first pregnancy my daughter was born at 38 weeks and my son was born on his due date. (There are birth vlogs of their arrivals too.) When this little babe was born we didn't know her name - that was also different. She has a name now though :) It is Juliette Dorothea. She is a little dream girl. Even though all of this has been unexpected and I am very emotional, there are sooo many reasons why I am grateful. Our health being top of the list, and then I am also just thankful for new experiences. I have been learning so much and my hope is that I will be able to take what I am learning and better support the families who view my videos. Thank you for your support & encouragement! On Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at 2:27pm we welcomed our 6lb and 19inches long baby girl into the world. She arrived at 34 weeks and 6 days gestation and I began preterm labor 3 weeks prior to her arrival. She is an amazing little dream girl and we are so grateful for how healthy she is. Aside from Covid changing everyone's world upside down, this pregnancy was a surprise and then I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks. Both my other babies were planned pregnancies and they were born full-term, my last baby even arrived on his due date. This was my first medicated delivery and as somebody who was really afraid of an epidural, my experience with one was very good. I am excited to tell you more in future videos but the short story is that this little sweetheart was a surprise and even her arrival was a surprise but we already know she is exactly what we needed. I have referenced material from Dr. Sarah Mitchell - the baby sleep instructor I am learning from right now. I have also utilized free resources from Taking Cara Babies like her instagram and blog. I frequently google "sample baby schedules" or "sample toddler schedules" and read lots of things that come up until I find a suggestion that suits my family best. I don't follow schedules strictly but in my experience my kids have thrived when there is some structure and predictability to our days. Trust YOUR style though and disregard anything I have said if it doesn't make your life easier. It is totally normal for different families to do things differently. Aside from this pregnancy I am already Mom to a 5 year old daughter and a 1 year old son. My husband and I live in southern California with our growing family. We live in a small home but it suits our family really well. We typically live with friends too but in this video our new roommates had not arrived yet so it was still just us. I just stopped breastfeeding my son when he was 12 months old to give myself a break from nursing because I am pregnant and will be nursing a newborn again beginning in November. Here is a video about how I weaned and what that felt like for us. I was going to wean him during the week of his first birthday but general advice given said not to wean a baby if they are teething or experiencing a sleep regression .. and just my luck Wilson got his first 4 teeth and went through a sleep regression all at the same time. So weaning was postponed a week or two, but thankfully it went way better than I expected. We began the weaning process during the daytime by offering regular milk and water instead of breastmilk. We also offered a lot of food at meal times to ensure baby was full. Once my son got the hang of daytime naps without nursing before or after then I progressed to weaning him in the evening. That part was a little harder and he cried a bit when he first went down for bed, but it was brief and within a couple days he was comfortable with snuggles and a bottle of milk instead of breastfeeding. I think I was more nervous about it all than he was, he was very adaptable and overall handled weaning really well. Once it was said and done I felt so relieved. I hear often that once women stop nursing they feel more like themselves, I would say that is true for me too. I am so thankful I was able to breastfeed but I am also seriously thankful to have a break from breastfeeding before baby number 3 comes on the scene. What is real is that as a mom I spend A LOT of my time in random clothes that I have thrown on and within a few minutes are usually covered in food.. and paint (I have a 12 month old and a five year old home with us full time.) My hair is often dirty. I rarely feel fit and beautiful. I am not complaining or looking for pity I am just sharing what goes on when the camera is not looking, in case you are feeling fragile or insecure. We are all together in this. Growing a baby brings about so many physical changes and it can be hard to feel comfortable in our own skin. If you start to feel yourself comparing your pregnant body to mine or anybody else's take a second to turn off your devices and quiet your thoughts. Remind yourself, like I do, that it is a gift to grow a human and that your body is precious. Your pregnant body deserves to be loved and cared for. (As does your non-pregnant body!) All bodies are different and it only makes sense to dress them that way. What looks amazing on you may look silly on me and vice versa. If you watch this video and think, "Wow none of those outfits would look good on me.." That is NOT a problem. Your body is perfect. Dress in a way that flatters your unique maternal form and feel totally confident in that. I am cheering you on. You are beautiful. That is what is true. Let's do what we can to enjoy these bodies we have and raise children who have healthy body image too. You guys mean so much to me, the last thing I would want is for my content to make you feel any less beautiful, valuable, or worthy. Welcome! I am 3 months pregnant with a little girl who is due in November. My baby boy is 11 months old so we will be celebrating his first birthday here in a few weeks and my daughter is almost 5 years old. My husband and I live in Los Angeles, California so family life continues to be quarantine style, though we have been able to see more friends lately and I am SO thankful for that! In this video you will see my typical parenting schedule and some of the things I feed my kids. On this particular day I also filmed a parenting Q & A video so that will be posted alongside this video. Shaun and I celebrated 11 years of marriage last weekend and the day we filmed this video our good friends Hanne and Sierra Fellers were celebrating their 11 year anniversary too so we all had a bbq in the backyard. Their son Finn is 1 year old, about 6 months older than my son, and it is so precious to see our kids become friends. Thank you so much for watching. I will post a typical schedule for Wilson below: 7am (ish) - baby wakes up & nurses. 7:20 - baby eats breakfast. Usually a toasted frozen waffle, some fruit, some dry cereal, and sometimes yogurt. -- Then baby plays until around 9. 9am (ish) - baby nurses a tiny bit and goes down for a nap. 10:30 - baby wakes up, nurses, plays 11 - baby eats more food. (fruit, rice, pureed veggies/meat, crackers, baby cereal.. etc) -- baby plays more 1pm (ish) - baby nurses a little and goes down for nap 2:30 - baby wakes up, nurses & plays 3:00 - baby eats then plays 5:00 baby eats again *also might nurse -- after eating he may take a bath depending on the day 7:00 baby nurses and goes to bed for the night ** i usually nurse him one more time around 10pm but sometimes he sleeps through the night so I don't do that.
