Everything Scatter Dance
Yesterday evening, I was just chillin', getting into this Fela Kuti tune called "Everything Scatter," and I thought to myself, "Man, I would love to see some hot African dancers goin' at it on this jam!"
So I looked around for a dance video that seemed appropriate, and found this one by Badgyalcassie. A few hours video editing later, wha-la; a dance video mash-up. Hope it cheers you up.

Cinema Diablo #104 -- The "Musical Epitaph"
Cinema Diablo was a public access TV show I attempted to do around 2008, composed primarily of film clips edited in a thematic, entertaining manner, but unfortunately, after I submitted the first episode, one of the "overseers" ripped me for copyright infringement.
Looking ahead, I had saved a small library of clips that I had ripped from DVDs rented from Netflix, and never got to use them. In 2017 I found a DVD of these clips on a work disc for Cinema Diablo I had tucked away in the back of a drawer, and decided to resurrect the project now that I had access to home video editing software at home.
I tried uploading these to youtube in the fall of 2017, but they gave me a copyright strike. I figured I would try again with the best of the four episodes I was able to reconstruct with the clips I had saved, and upload it here at Rumble. At the very least, resurrecting Cinema Diablo forced me to learn how to do video and music editing using Audacity and iMovie 11, and proved very helpful in my present work with original music video projects I have been experimenting with since then (see "I Spy" for example, available at my bitchute page: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/xkjX0dGc0B38/).
The opening number for this twenty minute "musical epitaph" for my short-lived series is Stevie Wonder's recording of "Hi-Heel Sneakers," but after that, all the music performances are my own original work, or collaborative music created with friends.
The subsequent songs are an original arrangement of "Theme from Psycho"(B. Herrmann), Revulsion, an original instrumental soundtrack (P. Cowan, G. Hohnholt), my arrangement of Henry Mancini's "A Shot in the Dark", with bass by Michael Rains and drums by Robin Toye, and "Into the Void" (Black Sabbath), a live recording of my old band the Street Karaoke Project, featuring Rich Paddock on bass, and Paul Wolford on drums, with Frank, a guest vocalist.
If you're unfamiliar with my video and music work, this is basically a 22 minute introduction of various phases of my 42 year exploration into creating sounds and visuals, often with collaborators. Check out my soundcloud page, which contains over two hours of audio tracks, if you'd like to do a deep dive into ALL 42 years: https://soundcloud.com/biggreg3000

Psycho Theme (B. Herrmann), arranged for three guitars and bass.
This video took nearly 20 years to get "just right". I recorded the original cassette four track in 1998, but I could never get it to sync it up to the opening titles because the tempo I recorded at was a little slower.
After I started using Audacity in 2016, and then iMovie 11 a year later, I finally got the idea to go back and finish this long-neglected project. I'm a huge Bernard Herrmann fan, and so it was very exciting to finally hear my arrangement matched up precisely with Saul Bass' visuals.
For this Rumble upload, I remixed the audio through a tube amplifier; this is probably the best it has sounded (I lost a little fidelity in speeding up the original audio). Play L O U D, it helps.

fait accompli (GH3K), arranged for three guitars, bass, and diaper box drums
One of the few ballad type numbers I've composed, this is about dreams deferred due to a lack of imagination and falling prey to a victimhood mentality. "fait accompli" was part of a planned recording project entitled "Foreign Words and Ph(r)ases" of which I completed four tunes. Another one of the other three, DOPPELGANGER, can be found here as well, and the remaining two, ENANTIODROMIA and THANATOS. are in four track mp3 format on my soundcloud page.

LAPJAW - J.D. Boulevard (GH3K), amateur music video
Lapjaw released their 12" vinyl EP "Talking from the Hip" in late summer, 1987, and this attempt at a promo video was shot at Carl Hohnholt's backyard in Bricktown, NJ around that time. The "J.D." stands for Jack Daniel's (and juvenile delinquent), so Craig Surgent and I had a bit of Old No. 7 before shooting as you can probably tell.

Moanin' (B. Timmons), lead guitar and backing track
This video was originally produced in February 2019.
Just jammin' on a Saturday afternoon at home to a backing track. This jazz/blues tune was originally performed by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, late 50s hard bop -- love that stuff.

A Shot in the Dark (H. Mancini), arranged for guitars, bass, drums, synth bass, and guitar synth
✧Special✧ backing track guests --
Bass: Michael Rains - WA
Drums: Robin Toye - WA
When my songwriting petered out in the early '90s (I had to be a grown up for awhile), I started getting more into arranging instrumentals for different styles of guitar playing I thought I could add some zest to. Soundtrack scores ended up being my favorite sandbox to play around in.
After several earlier audio-only incantations, I really had a keen desire to re-do the lead guitar and add a visual accompaniment. Visually it is rather static, my apologies. It is just me playing, because I hadn't learned how to use iMovie 11 yet.
Still, here is what I feel is my definitive arrangement of a Mancini score that I've been fiddling with on and off for 20 odd years or so.

Witchita Lineman (J. Webb), arranged for iReal Pro, backing track, vocals, and two guitars
I've always loved this song, Jimmy Webb was really on a roll in the late '60s. As a matter of fact, the very first 45 RPM single I every purchased with my own money was "Up, Up, and Away" by the Fifth Dimension.
Hopefully Glen Campbell fans won't be too upset with me for sabotaging his video with my middling vocal interpretation. All in good fun, folks, enjoy the ride.
The backing track is a hybrid mix of a guitar backing track with orchestration (mostly left channel), and an iReal Pro chart I worked the changes out for (mostly right channel). The video footage of Glen Campbell was acquired from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qoymGCDYzU

Star Trek TNG Theme (A. Courage/G. Roddenberry/J. Goldsmith), arranged by GH3K and iReal Pro
A Brian May styled multiple guitar arrangement was what I was after; you can be the judge if I was successful. I've always wanted to punk this song up a bit since it is 95% major chords, and has a kind of militaristic drive to it.
I composed the iReal chart, then used two different styles melded together for a hybrid backing. Then I added a distorted rhythm guitar and three melody guitars on top of that.

The Stripper (D. Rose), arranged for iReal Pro, additional percussion, and two guitars
I just discovered the iReal Pro app, and this is the first tune that I decided to cover, using the arrangement I composed as a backing track. I've had this arrangement sitting around in an old music notebook forever, I guess awaiting the day when technology would make it possible for me to finally put out a version that I thought was close enough to how it sounded in my head, and present to the public.

Third Millennium Theme 2019 (GH3K), arranged for iReal Pro, three guitars, and percussion
I originally recorded a four track version of this tune called "Grunge Theme for the New Millennium" for my Musical Mischief giveaway cassette EP in 1998. This 2019 version is a revamped arrangement with iReal Pro backing track (featuring Moog bass and chorus guitar), rhythm guitar, slide guitar, and another lead guitar, plus two percussion tracks.
I was going for a majestic, fist-hoisting type of power chord anthem, so you be the judge if it works or not. I wanted something short and catchy like the "I love NY" theme popular in the '90s. Volume helps.😉

March of the Siamese Children (R. Rodgers), arranged for Alesis HR-16, bass, and two guitars
This is an instrumental number from "The King and I" which I happened to come across in one of my fake books in 1988, and decided to mess around with. It was a transitional time for me because punk was sort of dead and I was searching around and about different genres of music for ideas to play with. It was fun to let my imagination wander off to far off lands and try to recreate the feel of an Eastern vibe with my new drum machine.
The video was originally created in rough form with two DVD players in 2008, and for this upload I improved the audio and tightened up the editing on the visuals with iMovie 11.

She's Just My Style (A. Capps/G. Lewis/L. Russell/T. Leslie) -- iReal Pro, guitar, piano and vocals
I discovered and fell in love with this 1966 tune by Gary Lewis & the Playboys while reading Shawn Levy's bio of Jerry Lewis, KING OF COMEDY. After composing an iReal Pro chart for it, I slowly started piecing together the bass piano, guitar, and four vocal parts which took about a better part of a day to record, and then another half a day of editing. I did two vocals with Audacity, and then two live takes with the flip camera; then I built up a composite audio track and went to work on the video editing.

Big Sky (R. Davies), arranged for guitar, synth, iReal Pro, and vocal
The Kinks' masterpiece (or one of them) album, THE VILLAGE GREEN PRESERVATION SOCIETY, has been one of my favorites for nearly forty years, so it was a labor of love to cover this tune and to do the video. I hope it brings those of you out there having a tough time dealing with this phony "pandemic" a little bit of wisdom in how to adapt.
Personally, I've been enjoying myself immensely since I don't have to work my stupid job anymore, I have much more time to work out more labor intensive projects like this one. I'm going to attempt to really keep the videos flowing now, so if you hesitated subscribing, now's the time.

Mari's Theme (GH3K), arranged for synth, synth bass, three guitars, and two drum tracks
This is an original work I wrote in 1988 for a wiccan (obviously named "Mari") I was corresponding with; we discovered each other in the Fangoria classified section.
Back than, the cutting edge technology for at home recording was four track cassette. Some of my friends on facebook wanted to hear one of my original tunes, so I thought it might be fun to update it with digital technology. [Note: my facebook page no longer exists; I quit when I discovered Mark Zuckerberg contributed to steal the 2020 election and actively censored conservative voices.]
This 2019 version is arranged with three synth voices, including synth bass, three guitars, and two drum tracks. I was trying to evoke something "witchy" for my pen pal, and she was quite pleased with it.

Anthem (Lee/Lifeson/Peart), arranged for backing track and guitar
Rush was never a band I was particularly fond of when I was a young punk rocker type, but now that I'm older, I've let go of a lot of my silly prejudices and decided to give them a listen. Having now spent many hours listening to their discography recently, I had to admit that Rush's sense of musicality and groove is unique and quite intriguing, as well as challenging to play properly.
So here is my first attempt to tackle one of their numbers. ANTHEM was first recorded for Rush's second LP FLY BY NIGHT, which was also the debut album for drummer Neil Peart, who had a major influence on the band's direction. I dedicate this video to my friend and bassist Rich Paddock, who got me to learn "Freewill" when I was in a band with him, and who cites Geddy Lee as a major influence.

And What If I Don't (H. Hancock), arranged for iReal Pro, guitar, and synth
This is one of Herbie's old Blue Note numbers that doesn't get covered much. I decided to give it a go since I'm learning how to use the expression wheel on the synth, and the melody really lends itself to a bluesy interpretation. Plus I like the title since many Americans today are asking this question regarding wearing face masks in light of the COVID-19 scam-demic. Oh well, this lockdown is working out great for me so far; I don't have to work a stupid job and can keep pumping out music videos.
