Salzburg, Austria - October 2018 (GH5)
Salzburg, Austria is known for being the birthplace of Mozart, it's baroque architecture, and for being the backdrop for the musical play and film - "The Sound of Music." The city sits at the base of the majestic Austrian Alps and was listed as a UNESCO world Heritage Site in 1996.
On October 31, 2018, we traveled from Passau Germany to visit Salzburg, Austria. From walking the Getreidegasse, the gardens of Mirabell palace, to climbing up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress, there is a lot to see and do. Esther and I rushed to see what we could in the very short time we got to spend there.

Nuremberg, Germany - November 2018 (GH5)
Nuremberg, Germany is a fascinating mix of new and old. The Imperial castle and fortifications date back to the middle ages. Much of the city was destroyed by Allied bombers in World War 2. The jail and courthouses used in the Nuremberg trials are still in use today. Aside from some sad reminders of the past and thriving among the history is an advanced modern city that maintains it's old world charm.
On November 2, 2018 we spent our last full day in Europe walking streets of Nuremberg's old city. This is video highlights our day.

Budapest, Hungary - October 2018 (GH5)
Often called "The Heart of Europe," Budapest is the capital of Hungary. The city is split in two by the Danube, with the hills of Buda on the West side of the river, and more metropolitan Pest to the East. There is so much to see and explore - Travelers could easily spend a week or more enjoying all that Budapest has to offer.
On October 27-28, 2018 - My wife and I spent only a few hours touring the city and just got a small taste of what it has to offer. The skies were grey and overcast which didn't do this video any favors. Shot on a Lumix GH5 (4k 60fps) completely hand-held. Lens: Leica 12-60

Vienna, Austria - October 2018 (GH5)
Vienna is the capital of Austria and often referred to as the "City of Music." The city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is filled with brilliant architecture and a rich history. It is truly one of the most beautiful cities on the Danube.
On October 29, 2018 - With just hours to see the Vienna my wife and I took the subway right to the city center. It would take days see this city but we settled for artwork in the Albertina Museum, Sacher torte (cake), a glimpse of the Lipizzaner stallions, lunch at a street cafe, St. Stephen's Cathedral, and a carriage ride through the city.

New England 2020 (GH5)
Over a year ago we made plans to take a Viking river cruise down the Rhine river in Europe. That trip was scheduled for the first week in November, 2020 but like almost everything in 2020 it was cancelled. We rescheduled that trip but wanted to do something this year for our anniversary, so in October 2020 Esther and I visited New England. We covered Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island in just a few short days. There is so much to see but we moved pretty quick from the beaches of Cape Cod and Portland to the White Mountains and the calm waters of Lake Champlain. We didn't plan this trip out - just sort of "winged it." It was a wonderful trip and this video only gives a few highlights. It can't do justice to the stunning scenery during the Fall months. But the real highlight was being able to spend time with my wife.

Wachau Valley, Austria - October 2018 (GH5)
The Danube river formed the Wachau Valley through Austria. It is one of the most scenic sections of the Danube between Melk and Krems and has been listed as a UNESCO world Heritage Site. Castle ruins, terraced vineyards, and old churches line the river as it passes through small towns like Dürnstein and Spitz. River cruises pass each other as passengers soak in the view while the Danube winds through the valley.
This video is just a taste of the beauty of the Wachau Valley.

Regensburg, Germany - November 2018 (GH5)
The Bavarian city of Regensburg, Germany resides on the banks of the Danube and has a rich history. The Romans built a fort in Regensburg about AD 90. St. Peter's church (Regensburg Cathedral) towers over the city while the stone bridge that spans the Danube was used by knights on their way to the Holy Lands during the Crusades. The cobblestone streets, colorful buildings and rich history make Regensburg a top attraction in Germany.
On November 1, 2018 - Esther and I spent about 4 hours walking the city streets of Regensburg. We started with the Roman ruins of Porta Praetoria, then made our way to Regensburg Cathedral. We drank coffee across the street from the church then wondered through the city. Eventually we made our way to the ornate St. Emmeram Church. We stopped to get a sausage from the oldest sausage stand in Germany but due to poor planning, I was out of euros when we got there.
