Earth is running a fever
According to NASA satellites, the Earth is running a fever_ In fact, it turns out that the planet's temperature has been increasing for decades. Several Earth-observing satellites have been acting as thermometers in space. Using that satellite data, NASA created an 18-year record of land surface temperatures all over the world. The study showed that on average, Earth's snow-free land surfaces steadily warmed up from 1981 to 1998. This new dataset will allow researchers to analyze daily climate trends over large or small areas. Although ground measurements have been available in the past, measurements gathered by satellites are far more detailed. The data could help improve climate studies and computer models, helping us to better understand our planet's climate.

Do Robots Help Humans in Space? We Asked A NASA Expert
When it comes to space, humans and robots go way back. We rely heavily on our mechanical friends to perform tasks that are too dangerous, difficult or out of reach for humans. We’re even working on a new generation of robots that will help us explore in advanced and novel ways. With NASA’s CADRE — Cooperative Autonomous Distributed Robotic Exploration — project, a new network of mini rovers could enable future autonomous robotic exploration of the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Subha Comandur from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory explains more.

Psyche Spacecraft Move to Building 9
NASA’s Psyche Spacecraft moved to Building 9 at Astrotech Space Operations Facility near the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on August 14, 2023. This move will allow a team of technicians and engineers to load the spacecraft with xenon gas. Psyche’s solar electric propulsion system will use its large solar panels to create electric and magnetic fields to accelerate and expel charged xenon atoms, or ions, to create thrust. Psyche will launch atop a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy. Launch is targeted for Oct. 5, 2023. Riding with Psyche is a pioneering technology demonstration, NASA’s Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC) experiment.
