December 1st of 2022, Missouri Senator Bill Eigel's pre-filed SB100 was seen by some as "strange" or even "esoteric." Missouri House Speaker (Dean Plocher) has been off the radar for a few weeks as the Missouri Senate optics broadened from the Freedom Caucus filibuster to force IP reform bills into committee to stripping Freedom Caucus Senators from their committee seats and even their parking spaces at the Missouri Capitol. Sometimes folks are curious or outright confounded by all the pork and freedom killing legislation that seems so easily passed. There are 2 obvious ways to achieve this within a governing body. Pork and tyranny are usually buried in bills that are thousands of pages long but can also be found in Christmas tree (omnibus) bills that are passed quickly without vetting, reading or even committee attention. That's how the US government does it and that's how it happens in state government too. Most folks who run the first time for school board in their district, have no idea how the school is run from the board. They often "assume" they will have 1/7 of the say in all decisions and that they will have an opportunity to express their point of view and be able to debate topics relevant to the school in the meetings.
