Lots going on in the garden this month! all the early spring greens and radishes are gone to seed but summer veggies are starting to flourish!

Welcome back to my kitchen! We are making Sweet Potato Gnocchi today and I must say Gnocchi of all flavors are some of my favorite things to eat. Potato based, dumpling/pasta type morsels of pure deliciousness 😋 These are even more spectacular with fresh flour made with grains from @azurestandard and ground easily at home with @wondermill (links below) If you give these a go I'd love to hear what you think in the comments! more precise recipe - 2 + cups fresh milled flour of choice, 2 large baked sweet potatoes or several smaller ones, 2 tsp-1tbsp salt to preference. peel and mash potatoes and mix all together kneading till just combined and smooth. divide into eight pieces, roll and cut into 1 inch pieces. cook Gnocchi by placing into boiling water and letting simmer until they float. scoop out and toss with sauce of choice or fry with fresh or dried herbs and butter. looking into the 2022 garden season with the desire to be more and more resilient! Carol's book The Resilient Gardener has really propelled my garden plan this year and I'm excited to see what this season brings. Focusing a little extra space and energy on these 5 resiliency crops - eggs, corn, beans, squash, and potatoes this year and also trying out season extenders- my polly low tunnel I made earlier this spring is doing great!

Excited to share my early growing experiment with you guys! I'm having great success so far getting a head start on my cold crops with the use of a $30 diy low tunnel in the garden. What do you do to extend your growing season? What are your favorite crops for sowing early? I have in my extra early pollyculture bed 18 days reddish, ox heart carrots, Tom thumb lettuce, spinach and maybe more .... I cleaned out some old seeds (from 2000-2008) and mixed them together into one big envelope and scattered them about in a few locations so we will get to be surprised a little at what comes up!
