Bach Spectacular- Camarata, Kingsway Symphony Orchestra (1972) [Complete LP]
One Of Our Deleted Albums Series - London Phase 4 Stereo
Salvador Camarata (1913-2005) and the Kingsway Symphony Orchestra released this album in 1972 on the London Phase 4 Stereo label, catalogue number SP 44079. It consists of various excerpts from compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).
London's Phase 4 Stereo series were excellent technical recordings. As one example of their technical quality, they used 20 channel mixers at a time when the industry standard was 4 to 8 channels.
Unfortunately, the London Phase 4 Stereo recordings are deleted and out of print. But that makes them quite collectable so when I come across a second hand copy in good condition I buy it. I found this one recently in a local used record store.
Track List
1. Toccata And Fugue In D Minor 0:00
2. Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring 9:23
3. Ave Maria 12:57
4. Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, Allegro Assai 17:54
5. The Passion According To St. Matthew, No. 78 20:50
6. Air From Suite No. 3 In D Major 27:46
7. "Sleepers Awake", from Cantata No. 140 31:32
8. Magnificat, BVW 243, "Gloria Patri" No. 12 34:49
