One Of Our Deleted Albums Series - London Phase 4 Stereo Series

This recording of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade by Leopold Stokowski conducting the London Symphony Orchestra was recorded in September 1964 and released on the London Records Phase 4 Stereo label, catalog number SPC-21005, in the fall of 1964. It was produced by Tony D'Amato.

The audio on this was taken from a British pressing of the original vinyl LP.

Phase 4 Stereo used 20 channel mixers at a time when 4,8 and 16 track mixers were the norm. The label released some excellent classical recordings with conductors ranging from the very famous, like Leopold Stokowski, to less well known conductors like Robert Sharples, who appears on other Phase 4 Stereo recordings on this channel.

Phase 4 Stereo recordings have been deleted and, as far as I am aware, are not currently available commercially. I have never seen this recording of Scheherazade released on CD.

I will put more London Phase 4 Stereo recordings on the channel as time permits.
