The Breakdown of the White Stripes
The White Stripes, consisting of Meg and Jack White, defined millennial garage band rock. Originating in Michigan, Jack White initially stated the two were siblings instead of a divorced couple so the media could focus on the music. After getting a divorce in 2000, the White Stripes churned out highly acclaimed albums. With Karen Elson on the scene in 2005, Jack married her in Brazil after naming a song and album in her honor ("Icky Thump"). The relationship between Jack and Meg is explored in this video.

Scandals of Mark Twain: Isabel Lyon
Samuel Clemens AKA Mark Twain (1835-1910) encountered a great deal of drama and turbulence after Isabel Van Kleek Lyon entered his life (1863-1958). After building homes in Farmington, Connecticut, and living in Oldgate with her mother and two siblings, Isabel worked as a governess in Philadelphia and New York City after her father's death. Meeting Twain at a whist party in 1892, Lyon made such an impression Twain's wife Olivia Clemens (1845-1904) remembered her 10 years later for a position as secretary. Lyon was in attendance when Olivia died in Florence in 1904. Helping send Twain's epileptic daughter Jean Clemens to an epileptic colony in 1906, Lyon worked to prevent her homecoming to Twain's home Stormfield until 1909. Recollections of Jean differ, and this video presents Jean as a self-sufficient outdoorswoman with her life under control. Unfortunately this did not save her, and she was found dead in her bathtub on Christmas Eve in 1909 with Lyon lurking around the neighborhood.

Jack Dunphy: The Lover of Truman Capote
Jack Dunphy (1914-1992) was Truman Capote's partner for 35 years. Living together in Manhattan, Sicily and then apart in Long Island, New York, Dunphy was the solitary shy foil to Capote. Once a ballet dancer, Dunphy published critically acclaimed novels such as John Fury and First Wine. Outshone by Capote in the literary world, Dunphy published a remembrance of Capote in 1987. Dunphy's first wife Joan McCracken (1917-1961) remained in their orbit for years. Dunphy and Capote's ashes were scattered together in New York in 1992.

The Baron & the Mobster
How did the Kray twins wreak their chaos in gambling, loansharking and blackmail across Swinging Sixties London? They had a powerful protector in Conservative MP and Lord Robert Boothby (1900-1986), who even testified in the House of Lords on their behalf. A special friend to Ronnie Kray (1933-1995), Boothby had homosexual and heterosexual affairs throughout his life. Taking Dorothy Macmillan from her prime minister husband and having a daughter with her in 1930, Boothby married twice. His initial nationalistic campaigns including the national milk scheme and fortified bread fell in ten years to globalist programs and practices. Learn more about the Mirror / Boothby scandal in this video.

Is the Red Cross A SCAM?
The American Red Cross is an institution. It's one of the biggest charities in the country, raking in billions every year. After any disaster you see people sharing links all over social media, begging others to donate to the Red Cross so they can get out there and help those affected.
But the organization has a dark underbelly. Its history is full of scandal. It flat-out refused to help during one of the biggest disasters America ever faced. In the modern era, Red Cross assistance during emergencies has been called into question time and again, by everyone from watchdog groups, to politicians, to the people they were supposed to help, to their own volunteers. There are also serious questions about what exactly they do with donations, and why their employees steal.
This video just might convince you that after the next disaster, your precious dollars would be better off with a different, more local charity.

Soubrette of Satire: Anita Loos
In 1917, Photoplay reported that “The most important service that Anita Loos has so far rendered the screen is the elevation of the subcaption, first to sanity then to dignity and brilliance combined.” This trick has been subsequently used by Woody Allen and Nancy Meyes, among others. Anita Loos (1888-1981) had so convinced D. W. Griffith of the value of the intertitle, that he called her “The most brilliant young woman in the world” and made her the first female screenwriter of Hollywood. The intertitle is a printed narration or portion of dialogue flashed on the screen between the scenes of a silent film. A prolific writer who appeared in the press in a manner as glamorized as the stars she wrote for, Anita Loos wrote over one hundred and fifty scripts in her thirty years as a Hollywood screenwriter and elevated intertitles to an art. She is best remembered not only for defining the silent era personas of stars like Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., and the Talmadge sisters, Constance and Norma, but for also creating the character of Lorelei Lee in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, a 1925 novel adapted to films in 1928 and 1953 which Edith Wharton called the Great American novel. She was also known as Mrs. John Emerson, Corrine Anita Loos, J. Emerson Loos, Anita Luus. But behind her prolific output were two failed marriages and a very unhappy in love woman.

Gilded Age Documentary: Ward McAllister
Who was the so-called Arbiter of the Gilded Age, the Autocrat of the Drawing Rooms, Samuel Ward McAllister (1827–1895)? This Southern born gourmand revolutionized American cooking with his emphasis on farm grown dishes, picnics and turkey. A lawyer by trade, McAllister or "Mc" lived in Europe for five years and sat at Queen Victoria's table, enhancing his appeal to New York society. Back in New York, McAllister relied on his family's turkey plantation and madeira cellars for favor. His farm, Bayside Farm, contained 10,000 fruit trees planted by McAllister himself. Under the patronage of his distant cousin, Mrs. Caroline (Schermerhorn) Astor, McAllister reached great heights but his favor came crashing down after the publication of his 1890 memoir "Society As I Have Found It".

Keeping The Poet Alive: Vivienne Eliot
Vivienne Haigh-Wood Eliot (also Vivian, born Vivienne Haigh on 28 May 1888) was the first wife of American-British poet T. S. Eliot, whom she married in 1915, less than three months after their introduction by mutual friends, when Vivienne was a governess in Cambridge and Eliot was studying at Oxford. Vivienne was the daughter of an artist and landlord father, Charles Haigh-Wood, whose work you can see around the world. Plagued by health issues including TB and treated with potassium bromide (which causes cognitive decline) at a young age, Vivienne struggled in the Eliot marriage. Eliot decided on a separation in 1932/1933 which Vivienne struggled to accept. Her younger brother, Maurice, committed her to Northumberland House Mental Hospital in 1938. She died, not visited by her husband, in 1947. Her private diaries were possessed by Eliot's second wife, Valerie, despite Vivienne's gift of her personal papers to the Bodleian Library of Oxford upon her death.

The Greville Jewels
The name 'Mrs Ronnie Greville' or "Maggie Greville" sets off shivers of delight among royal jewelry connoisseurs. Why? Because some of the most spectacular pieces in the House of Windsor's vault once belonged to this woman, born in St John's Wood in 1863 as Margaret Helen Anderson to a lowly brewery cook. Rising once legitimized by her father, William McEwan of McEwan's Fountain Brewing Company (now Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company), Maggie married the Honorable Ronnie Greville in 1891. Greville would become an MP and was heir to a baronetcy but after 17 years of marriage, no children issued. After Ronnie's death in 1908, Maggie traveled the world and compared her diamonds and emeralds to those of the maharajahs. Settling back in her Charles Street home and Polesden Lacey, Maggie became the hub of the Edwardian royal set. She provided cover to Mrs. Keppel, one of the British monarchy's beloved mistresses. Learn more about her at least 60 pieces of jewelry in this video.
