This free campground is first come / first served and accessible only by 4WD, no RV's allowed. It's a popular spot near Telluride, but it's cold at night, the elevation is around 11,000 ft.

New Year's Day 2022

The only ski lift in Texas, located on Lake Buchanan near Marble Falls. It's not for skiing, just mountain biking.

I hiked through a brief snowstorm on my way to the top of Uncompahgre, but it was calm and clear with most of the snow melted by the time I reached the summit. I was able to fly my drone from the top!

I'm not sure why it's called the "Hobbit Trail", but there is a section at the top, walking on the rock pile, sort of felt like Mordor. The trailhead is on the Bachelor Loop, the hike is not tough, but it ends at some remains of the Kentucky Belle mine on top of the mountain. After you reach the top, the trail continues another 200 yards down the cliff face to an Ore Chute with cables that once carried ore buckets across the valley. I first spotted the mine when I hiked the Up & Over trail and on up to Inspiration Point. I could see it across the valley but didn't know what it was. I also noticed the trail up there and wondered if that was the Hobbit Trail. A few weeks later I decided to hike it, I flew my drone up to the mine from the valley floor on my way up to the trailhead, still not really sure if that was my destination. When I reached the rock pile on top, I recognized the trail and realized I was where I thought I was going, totally unbelievable. I scrambled down the cliff face only a short distance, I did not go all the way down to the ore chute, I just leaned over the edge and took a picture, since I had already flown my drone and got a good view of it.

This is a popular trail in Ouray, it circles the entire town, 6 miles of up and down around the beautiful city. Lots of bridges, one with a troll hiding under it. The high bridge @ Box Canon is a fun one! Also, the trail passes the Ouray Via Ferrata, I watched a girl climbing it all by herself.

This moose couple was just off the road outside of Silverton. The female was eating grass in the water and the bull had only one good antler.

This is the view I shared with Bonita for a month in South Fork. We watched the clouds while the steak was grilling.

Drone footage of Creede and the Pinnacles. You can see the trail heading up the hillside on the right of town, to the large rock outcrop, called the Pinnacles. This is a popular hike, called the 'Up and Over', up to the Pinnacles and down the other side into the canyon. This is also the trail which lead to Inspiration Point, also called Perspiration Point, the trail is very steep all the way.

It's a short hike from the Silver Thread Campground down to the falls.

One of the highest mountain roads in Colorado runs up Grayback mountain to a radio tower, near the Summitville gold mine and ghost town.
