In his latest book, Boardman W. Kathan explores the topic of American holidays
Check out the book in Yaya's Book Club: https://www.amazon.com/shop/yayadiamond
In times of stress and conflict the celebration of patriotic holidays can bring us together. These ten chapters examine the traditional national holidays of the United States of America--plus Flag Day and Constitution Day--by presenting the persons and events they commemorate, which have shaped American history and identity. In addition, Lincoln's birthday--never proclaimed a national holiday--is considered in an appendix. This book restores the original meaning of these celebrations and looks closely at their development in American history, seeking to inspire renewed ways of celebration, commemoration, and observance. It is an aid for recalling our history, reclaiming our values and traditions, and restoring a sense of community. Each chapter looks at the many books and research written about the events commemorated by these holidays, showing their relevance for today, and their spiritual or religious dimensions. Although the United States of America was not founded as a "Christian nation" on biblical principles, people throughout American history have perceived divine guidance--or what George Washington called "Providential interposition."This book is for the general public, members of patriotic organizations and associations, and as a resource book for schools and religious institutions.

Valeriy Polekh, a leading Russian hornist whose life and career spanned the early Russian Soviet era to the collapse of Russian communism, celebrates his love of music in this autobiography. Born July 5, 1918, in Moscow, his mother instilled in him an appreciation for music at an early age. Whenever he asked her a question about music or art, she always gave an exhaustive answer. Vasiliy Nikanorovich Soloduev, a well-known French horn musician, a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra, and an experienced artist, was the author's first teacher at music technical school. Although he seems severe, he turns out to be a kind person. He also recalls playing in amateur orchestras in his youth, including one led by Professor Boris Emmanuilovich Khaikin near the Moscow Conservatory. In time, Polekh rose to play with the finest orchestras in Russia, and his positive attitude is reflected in his lively accounts of the interesting people he met along the way, including musicians and high-ranking army officers.
Translated from Russian, this autobiography offers a fascinating look at life in Russia, its music, and some of its best musicians over an extended period.

Clay Robinson and Yaya Diamond speak on Domestic Violence and Anger Managment Trigger Warning
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLagVE83_uiE6YKasMoAlJgTmbFQLVkQB3&si=0OtDo_4nysOhqdXx
Clay Robinson has spent his career working in the fields of Violence Prevention, Mental Health, and Conflict Management. He is a passionate philanthropist and entrepreneur committed to organizations combating violence of any kind.
His passion for assisting victims and perpetrators of domestic violence was fueled by hearing so many news stories that involved men committing acts of domestic violence against their wives or significant others. Each guy he saw being led off by police in handcuffs always had their head hung and appeared to be remorseful. Clay felt he needed to find a way to get people to understand the lasting affects domestic violence on families and communities and that domestic violence is not limited to persons of any particular race, culture, or socio-economic background or gender; women can also be batterers’.
Clay Robinson is a Domestic Violence Instructor and Anger Management Specialist with over twenty-one years of experience in the mental health and counseling field. He specializes in providing trainings, seminars, and counseling in the areas of domestic violence, anger management, family crisis prevention, and relationship enhancement. He has also provided counseling services and life enhancement skills to deaf males.

About the book:
The use of analogies has been a staple in my career as a therapist since the very beginning. As a clinical intervention, I began to call the use of analogies, Analogous Processing.
Analogies, metaphors and similes are easier to remember, especially for concrete thinkers. It is my hope that the analogies, metaphors and similes presented in this book will also be of use to you, my reader, in attaching concrete images to carry home life lessons that can enhance your relationships with others and your emotional and psychological functioning, in general. That is a goal that we all strive for as we continue along our life journey.

EGOT winner Melba Moore talks about her new music and more
#blackwomenpodcasters #melbamoore #yayadiamond
https://www.melbamoore.com/
Is an American prolific 5 Octave singer and award winning actress.
Broadway, Contemporary Soul/R&B, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Gospel and Classical
On 10 Aug 2023 Melba Moore will receive her Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Melba Moore was destined to be a Star! It could have been her Grammy-nominated cover of the Aretha Franklin classic "Lean On Me" or her Tony Award-winning performance as ‘LuttieBelle GussieMae Jenkins’ in Purlie that solidified her place in America's hearts, and when she became the first African-American woman to perform the role of Fantine in Les Misérables.
“Music is what God allows me to do," declares Melba Moore. Born into a musical family, music chose Melba. “Music was a centerpiece in my family. My parents were musicians and so were many of my aunts and uncles." Melba’s father is the legendary big band leader Teddy Hill and her mother, Bonnie Davis, had a #1 hit on the R&B charts with the song “Don’t Stop Now." A graduate of the famed Arts High in Newark, Melba, at the encouragement of her parents went on to pursue music education at Montclair State, but her inner voice told her she had to see if she had the chops to make it as a performer. Melba’s stepfather (pianist Clement Moorman) introduced her to several agents which led to some studio work and eventually an audition that landed her a role in the cult classic Hair on Broadway in 1969. It was in Hair that Melba became the first African American woman to replace a white actress, who happened to be the acclaimed Diane Keaton, in a lead role on Broadway. One years later, she starred in Purlie, which earned her a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her portrayal as ‘Lutiebelle.’ At that time, Melba was one of the first Black women to win a Tony Award.
Ms. Moore was the first female pop/R&B artist to do a non operatic solo concert at New York City’s Metropolitan Opera House and at the Olympia in Paris. Melba was born to shine. Melba is better than ever, an elegant living legend, humanitarian, a star of stage, screen, and recordings, she's done it all and has done it beautifully. An American trend setter, she sets the bar high. She is currently in the planning stages of her return to Broadway and Television.
She is a Grammy nominated vocalist; a film star (she was in films ‘All Dogs Go To Heaven,’ ‘The Fighting Temptations’ (Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Beyonce Knowles). Moore has a successful track record in Television with the Melba Moore Show, Melba Moore Clifton Davis Show, Falcon Crest, Ellis Island, she produced ‘Melba Moore Live’ concert for TV, she is also profiled in the docu-series on TV-One's acclaimed ‘Unsung.’

About the author
Writing has always been my first love. Through the years I've written television, film and short story concepts across a wide range of genres, from horror to comedy and now I'm excited to present "Footsteps in the Dark - Stories of the bizarre and unusual". Footsteps in the Dark is a collection of eight short stories with a Twilight Zone flavor that is reminiscent of the story telling style of H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe. I hope the reader enjoys reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.
About the book
The Case of the Blonde with the bad Nose Job is Sam's first case and a comedy/mystery about two rich sisters and a kidnapping in Las Vegas. Sam is a street smart private investigator with a sometimes irreverent and hilarious approach to solving cases, while putting his life in danger. The Case of the Blonde with the Bad Nose Job combines all the intrigue of an great mystery with all the laughs humor of an engaging comedy.

"Family is the pot at the end of the rainbow." author Robert Lindsey
https://www.authorrobertlindsey.com/
I grew up in in Waimea, small town USA, when it was a ranch town. Waimea is located on the north tip of the Big Island of Hawaii and nestled in a crease of the Kohala mountain. I was born three years after WWII ended. Hawaii was a US Territory then and a training area for twenty to forty thousand marines, prepping for assaults on Iwo Jima, Tinian and Okinawa. Fortunately, the war ended with the Iwo Jima incursion.
My family was poor. In fact, everyone was poor except for Richard Smart, the owner of Parker Ranch. We were all in the sane boat. The irony is, we were happy. Very happy as we were rich in spirit. Most of us sat on a three-legged stool. 1 Church. 2 School. 3 Family.
Parker Ranch was our economic engine. Most of our dads worked for Parker as cow pokes, fence menders, and whatever Parker required. Sometimes, I wish we could go back to those days. Everyone knew everyone. The sound of your car, tractor, horse. Everyone shared their extras. Milk. Eggs. Vegetables. A slab of pork or beef. The best of what we had. Emphasis on BEST! The post office was our meeting house.
My mom kept house. My dad was a construction worker. I have a younger brother. We both went to our local public school until ninth grade then transferred to The Kamehameha School for Boys, a military school. I graduated in 1966. Kamehameha was known back then as The West Point of the Pacific. After high school, I attended the University of Hawaii, graduating in 1970 with a BA in Sociology and two certificates in executive development. I met my wife, Kathy there. We have two sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and four precious grandsons. Kathy is a retired schoolteacher having spent fifty years, teaching little ones (kindergarten and preschool).
I have been a probation officer, land assets director, state legislator, farmer, construction worker, coffee plantation manager, national park service ranger, and trustee with the office of Hawaiian affairs.
My interests are writing, reading, people, community service, politics and American history.

I grew up appreciating modern art—at 16, I fell in love with Mark Rothko. My art is my energy—apart from my flowers and sunbursts, I paint free-form shapes in vibrant colors on watercolor paper. Recently, I've moved into mixed media—pens, pains, and Sharpies. Leo and Bridget, Springer Spaniel and Bridget (our French Water Dog), hang with me in my space. I always work with music (mostly my mixes) — The National, Bon Iver, Jason Isbell, Tedeschi Trucks, Marcus King, and New Fav. Greta Van Fleet, to name a few.

Designer Elizabeth Brunner has taken her kids line Gender Neutral - Chat with Yaya Diamond
https://stereotypekids.com/
For much of her life Elizabeth has been immersed in fashion. At a young age she became fascinated with clothing, observing her mother sew while dressing her Barbie dolls with leftover scrap fabric from her mother's sewing projects. Eventually, Elizabeth pursued her dream of designing clothing by studying fashion design at California College of the Arts, graduating with a BFA in 2007. After living in London and working as intern at the prestigious design firm Pentagram, Elizabeth cultivated her viewpoint on design and society while exploring the vibrant culture of Europe. Not long after graduating, Elizabeth launched her first clothing line, Piece x Piece, as a response to material waste in the fashion industry by utilizing sample discards to create one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted garments.
But it wasn't until she observed her young twins dressing themselves that Elizabeth realized the true power of self-expression through fashion. Her daughter loved exploring the outdoors wearing a sports jersey and dinosaur shorts, while her son happily twirled around climbing trees in sparkling dresses. This experience was pivotal for Elizabeth. It made her question the societal "rules" about what boys and girls should wear and committed her to explore alternative paths to supporting children and enabling their own personal style, free from labels and boundaries. She became determined to create a brand that celebrated individuality, creativity, and self-expression for children – and adults.
And thus, StereoType was born.
