State Efforts Towards School Choice
In this podcast conversation, former Arizona Senate president Steve Yarborough and I discuss the impact of Arizona's innovative techniques for getting education funding into the hands of parents. We emphasize that the conversation is relevant to the whole country, as different states are attempting various approaches to school choice. We mention Pennsylvania's Democratic governor, Josh Shapiro, who recently vetoed a bill related to school choice.
Steve also talks about his work with the Ohio and Arkansas Legislatures, highlighting the significant school choice legislation passed in Arkansas and Ohio in the past 18 months. He lists several other states that have expanded school choice measures during this period. The conversation touches on the importance of providing a quality K-12 education for low-income kids and the need to address this issue early on rather than later in life.
We express optimism about the growing support for school choice, with 19 states adopting significant legislation in a short period of time. Note that not all of these states have Republican legislatures, and we discuss a high-profile black female Democrat in Georgia who switched parties due to the Democrat Party's stance on school choice.

Roadblocks To School Choice
#schoolchoice
In this conversation from "School Choice With Steve Yarbrough", Steve discusses the recent election in Arizona and the election of Katie Hobbs, a Democrat who has expressed her intention to impede progress in education. Steve mentions that Katie Hobbs, who was the minority leader during his tenure as president of the Senate, is hostile towards school choice.
He dismisses her claim that school choice will bankrupt the state and explains that there are multiple sources of funding for public education in Arizona, including the state general fund, local taxes, the State Land Trust, and potential federal funds. He argues that the average cost per student in a public school is over $14,000, while the scholarship tax credit and ESAs (Education Savings Accounts) range from $6,500 to $7,000, saving taxpayers money.
Steve suggests that the hidden agenda behind opposition to school choice may be the influence of the teachers unions, who are driving the narrative and have various other groups supporting their cause. He emphasizes that school choice is beneficial for students and should be prioritized in Arizona.

The Border
In this excerpt from Ep. 3 " Democratic Capitalism: Profit or Plunder? " I discuss the issue we face with our southern border. Most coming over the border are good, honest people seeking to better their lives through the American dream. But we cannot ignore the fact that an enormous amount of illegal drugs come through our extremely porous border. Drugs that kill 100,000 Americans each year. We need to do better to protect our border and the drugs that flow through it.

The Original Sin - Slavery
In this excerpt from Ep. 3 " Democratic Capitalism: Profit or Plunder? ", I talk about America's original sin - slavery. The founding fathers of this country were highly imperfect men. Imperfect men who laid the foundation for the 13th, 145h, 15th, and the 19th amendments to be enacted as the country grew to embrace new ideas and freedoms for all.

The Guilded Age and The Robber Barons
In this excerpt from Ep. 3 " Democratic Capitalism: Profit or Plunder? " I review America's guilded age, and industrial revolution. Everyday American citizens began to see a substantial increase of their wages, food prices decreased rapidly, and the job markets began to open widely as all sorts of new opportunities awaited them. Now some bad actors made out like bandits, these so called "robber barons". But the wake of this revolution led to America being such an economic powerhouse, and beacon for migrants globally.

Democratic Capitalism: Profit or Plunder?
In this episode, I defend America's system of Democratic Capitalism against the prevailing progressive view that it is flawed, and the liberal elite's view that it is a history of exploitation. The conversation explores the abuses and advancements during the Gilded Age in the United States, including legislative short selling and ethical lapses in modern times. The conversation also acknowledges the tremendous advances in incomes and standards of living during the Gilded Age and discusses the myth of income inequality. I argue that Democratic Capitalism works exceptionally well and continues to enrich millions of people in the US and billions around the world.

The Secret Sauce

Private, widespread land ownership is fundamental to widespread capitalism. Our founding fathers understood this all too well, and made sure to address it when building this nation.
