The team over at Starbase Raceway held a test race on their newly finished track and I participated! In this video I show you my banana shaped ship "Chiquita," my race run, some repairs I have to do after the race, a program I developed to make flying in Starbase easier, my view as a gunner during another person's race ( @CommandoDoggo ), and finally my attempt at bringing my ship home which did not go as planned. Overall, this video showcases a ton of what Starbase has to offer in its current form, community run events, unique ships and detailed repair, the ability to create tools to make the game better, and combat action with detailed damage. The short answer is it's not dead, it is being worked on by a small team and we should hear some news in April 2024 (next month from the time of writing of this). After that, we should be able to get our hands on something new to play with in at least 6-12 months. This video aims to thoroughly answer the question if Starbase is a "dead game." I first give a brief history lesson about the game up to the point of the development pause to help those not familiar with the game to get up to speed. After that I show what has been said about the issue of funding before getting to the details of the state of development. Finally I talk about some of the features hinted at in the future update. After a few whisky gingerales, I played this match in "Sun City" in my trusty ol' M18 GMC. I was able to get my first nuke ever despite... or maybe because of... my inebriation. There was an event going on where players were invited to go 1v1 in identical aircraft. After unlocking the second shotgun, I was able to have this awesome push up some well defended stairs. I had a pocket engineer and plenty of ammo to just sit there and keep shooting non-stop.
