During a bike ride I ran into a group of hikers doing the Pacific Crest Trail. "Trail Daddy" and 6 others were practicing their stream crossing techniques at Taylor Creek in South Lake Tahoe, to prepare for upcoming river crossings. Every year, since 9/11, Chris Sneed (aka "Flash") climbs the craggy peak on Hwy 50 between Spooner Summit and Carson City, Nevada, to replace the tattered, worn-out American Flag which flys to honor our troops. In 2020, I happened to be passing by as it was getting ready to happen and I stopped to grab some shots and assembled this unexpected video. Given all the turmoil of 2020, it was an emotional moment...Thanks to Mr. Coffey Anderson for permission to use his song which seemed to fit the subject well.

The annual "Festival of Lights" in the City of Auburn, California is a 2 hour celebration of the Christmas season...the parade includes acrobats, a synchronized unicycle team, marching bands, floats, motorcyclists doing wheelies, fire-breathing contraptions from Burning Man, and Lights! Lights! Lights! on everything from dunebuggies to horses...This year there was a surprise visit from the Grinch...My 6 1/2 minute clip incorporates several songs by traditional and pop artists including a mash-up of Jingle Bell Rock and Christmas at Ground Zero by Weird Al...Thanks to Jason Phipps for the timelapse sequence...

Another video from the cross-country road trip of 2016...this one was shot in Flemington, New Jersey, known for being the site of the famous "Trial of the Century" (20th century, before the O.J. Simpson trial competed for that title)...Bruno Hauptman was tried, convicted and executed for the kidnapping and killing of the baby of famous aviator Charles Lindbergh at the Hunterdon County courthouse...also featured is the old Union Hotel which housed the prosecutors and press covering the story...
