Public holidays in South Africa, none of them are really about 'us' or African 'us'. All of them come from one injustice or the other.
We do not have a holiday that says this one was founded solidly to celebrate blackness to celebrate Africanness to say this is by African people for African people.
We are basically using some reverse psychology to affirm what was done to 'us'
Our people rose together and realized that if you hatch the means of production you will cause the system to come to its knees.
It's the only way you can bring 'them' to book. It's the only language 'they' understand.

50% of ANC must be young people - 70% old people - ANCYL can't do the math but want to run SA
The ANC Youth League contradict the percentage of old people they'll allow in parliament and the legislature. Young people must have the majority, greater than 50%, but they'll be happy if 70% are old people. That's 120%... ANCYL needs to get the math right before removing all the old people.
Or maybe keep the old people who can do the math.
