Vermont Stands Up: A Look Back & Return to Freedom & Unity
"Out of storm and manifold perils, rose an enduring state. The home of freedom and unity."
This is the epitaph of Thomas Chittenden, the first governor of Vermont, and it exemplifies the spirit of Vermont Stands Up.
In the face of lockdowns, mask mandates and looming vaccine requirements, Vermonters found each other and connected in various ways over the past several years. "Vermont Stands Up" was one of those catalysts for connection, and the defense of freedom and unity.
This film was made to document the common experiences that united Vermonters during the Covid years. Its release is intended to encourage further debate and discussion, as the antidote to the isolation imposed by the mainstream media and government at every level.

In this segment, Vermont Stands Up board member and business owner Gayle Brown shares her journey of standing up with Courage and Confidence over the past three years of lock-downs, masks and other health freedom infringements.

8. Hazards of Masks- CONCLUSION: Kristen Meghan Kelly & Tammy Clark
Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety Professional and Industrial Hygienists Kristen Meghan Kelly and Tammy Clark have been raising the alarm about the dangers of the use of face masks in community settings since the spring of 2020. They explain why using masks in this way is dangerous and ineffective during this presentation at "The Vermont Emergency Forum to Assess the Respiratory Hazards of Masks" in May of 2023.
Kristen and Tammy explain that Industrial Hygienists are the professionals who are consulted when determining how to protect people from environmental hazards. They are the ones responsible for assessing the hazard, choosing the best protection strategies, and implementing them properly. Medical professionals, such as doctors and dentists, are not environmental safety experts- they work in environments designed by, and are routinely trained by, industrial hygienists. When it comes to protecting people from environmental hazards, it is necessary to choose the safest and most effective strategies; to do anything less is going to increase the risk of harm.
They also ask: Why have Industrial Hygienists, OSHA protections, and best practices been completely omitted from the decision to use masks in response to COVID?

5. Respiratory Hazards of Masks: Appropriate Special Education Accommodations with Megan Mansell
“It begs repeating, and with great emphasis, that every mask you have ever seen on a child is unregulated, untested, and unsafe, with zero efficacy, fit, term of wear, or medical clearance standards. Zero.”
– Megan Mansell
While most schools have dropped school-wide mask policies, at least one school in Vermont has continued to require students and staff in specific classrooms to wear face masks again this year (2022-23) at the advice of their special education team. While schools are required to provide safe and appropriate special education accommodations in schools, masks are neither, as Megan Mansell explains.
Megan Mansell is a former district education director over special populations integration, serving students who are profoundly disabled, immunocompromised, undocumented, autistic, and behaviorally challenged; she also has a background in hazardous environs PPE applications. She is experienced in writing and monitoring protocol implementation for immunocompromised public sector access under full ADA/OSHA/IDEA compliance. (Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Individuals with Disabilities Act)
One of the multidisciplinary experts from the Frontline Doctors’ Industrial Hygiene and Multidisciplinary Support Summit, and author of "Accommodating Chaos: Correcting Course on a Plague of Disinformation."
Megan addresses why every mask we see on a child is completely unregulated, untested, unsafe, not to mention unethical, and why the continued use of masks in schools as a special education accommodation is inappropriate and unnecessary. What alternatives exist to protect students and adults with special health needs?

4. Respiratory Hazards of Masks: Masking in Schools Continues- Update by Alison Despathy
“It begs repeating, and with great emphasis, that every mask you have ever seen on a child is unregulated, untested, and unsafe, with zero efficacy, fit, term of wear, or medical clearance standards. Zero.”
– Megan Mansell

While schools are required to provide safe and appropriate special education accommodations in schools, masks are neither, as Megan Mansell explains.
First, Megan will be introduced by Alison Despathy, B.S., who is a clinical nutritionist, college teacher, and author from Vermont. Alison will explain the current status regarding the continuation of mask requirements for children and staff in at least one school in Vermont, and the unwillingness of administrators at any level to engage in a discussion, or acknowledge the lack of safety evidence.

3. Respiratory Hazards of Masks: Keynote by Dr. Christina Parks
“Mask wearing is putting our kids at risk for chronic respiratory, cardio-respiratory, stress; for hypoxia, which is low oxygen; for impaired kidney function and kidney inflammation… In extreme cases, usually involving exercise, [mask wearing puts children at risk for] the possibility of respiratory arrest, brain damage, and even sudden cardiac death. What the hell are we thinking?”
