Winter Warmer: Festivus holiday pale ale by Black Raven #8
Matthew's beer review #8
Festivus holiday pale ale tastes like a spiced chai tea, and it's very, very good.

A Metal Winter Ale: Sleigher by Ninkasi #7
Matthew's beer review #7
I enjoy several hoppy darker beers, such as 7seas Black IPA, that mix an IPA hop character with darker malts, and while Sleigher is similar, it just isn't my bottle of beer.
Sleigh'r Winter Ale is a hoppy winter ale, probably technically a brown IPA, which means more darkly roasted malt was used to make an IPA than what you'd find in a "regular" IPA.
If you like IPAs, and particularly their darker variants, you'll probably enjoy this.

Thanksgiving 2021: Vagaberry Wild Ale by Bale Breaker Brewing #6
Matthew's beer review #6
This is a first-bottle, but not first sip (that would've been an adventure given the amount of head this one spilled off when I opened it), review of Bale Breaker Brewing Company's Vagaberry wild ale. This is a Saison (literally "season") beer wild fermented and aged for a year in white wine barrels. It tastes dry and fruity (common to saison ale) with a refreshing effervescence and nice saison funkiness.

Here Kitty-kitty: Kitten Mittens by Kulshan #4
Matthew's beer review #4
Yes, Ale yeasts are called "top fermenting" yeasts, but I suppose any yeast is added to the top of the wort and then move on to where it will be as part of its particular nature. I just need to trust my brain and stop talking some days.
I blame the imperial fest bier I had with dinner.
Anyways, this beer was bought for me by my wife, who is a winner, and this beer is a winner too. Kitten Mittens by Kulshan Brewing. I've enjoyed several of Kulshan's beers in the past. They are a good brewery making good beer.

Everybody's Brewing Old Soul Porter #102
Matthew's beer review number 102.
Today I'm drinking Everybody's Brewing Old Soul Porter on a warm day. You may have been my #short video of me making an ice cream float using this beer recently, which is from a few days after I recorded this video.
Dark beers aren't only for cool/cold weather and in this video I explore some of the reasons this porter can work on warm days.

Take Two: Cascade Brewing Mayan Bourbonic 2017 #105
A year plus some later, and my last bottle of Cascade Brewing's Mayan Bourbonic sour porter beer.
This is a special beer, and I'm sorry not to have any more of it.

Western Red Brewing Hazelnut Porter #103
My first Western Red Brewing beer is this hazelnut porter. It's an entirely adequate and enjoyable beer, but not so smooth or sweet as other hazelnut porters I've had.

Reuben's Rain City Roast #104
Pairing two of the Pacific northwest's favorite things, Reuben's Brewing Company's Rain City Roast is a cream ale made with coffee beans.
It's not just a beer where the malts were roasted until they produced coffee flavors: Reuben's used actual coffee in the making of this interesting, enjoyable brew.
