The Best Chocolate Cake and it's a Sourdough Chocolate cake! There is nothing sour about this cake, it is moist and delicious. This cake is easy to make and feeds 12-15 people. Recipe: 1 Cup of sourdough starter (Watch video recipe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SMKO...) 2 Cups of all-purpose flour 1 Cup of milk *Mix and set dough to ferment for 2-3 hrs.* 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 1 cup vegetable oil 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 3/4 cup natural cocoa powder (not Dutch process) 1 teaspoon espresso powder, optional 2 large eggs *In a bowl, beat together the sugar, oil, vanilla, salt, baking soda, cocoa and espresso powder. The mixture will be a bit grainy. *Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. *Combine the chocolate mixture with the starter-flour-milk mixture, stirring till smooth. *Pour the batter into the prepared pan. *Bake the cake for 30 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. *Remove the cake from the oven, and set it on a rack to cool while you make the ganache. In this video I teach you a super easy no discard method to making sourdough starter. All You need is three ingredients: Whole Wheat Flour, Water, and Time. Recipe: In a mason jar or bowl mix: 1/4 Cup Whole Wheat flour or Unbleached All-Purpose Flour 1/4 Cup of un-chlorinated water Mix ingredients, cover and leave on your counter for 24 hrs. Repeat the process for days 2-5. On day five your starter is "ripe" and ready to use.
