Sloths make suitable habitats for other organisms, and a single sloth may be home to moths, beetles, cockroaches, fungi, ciliates, and algae. It is classified as Critically Endangered on the 2010 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The most severe threat to the pygmy three-toed sloth is the destruction of the mangroves in which they live.
