Colin Update : #colincrew 7/8/23 18th Birthday!!!! This post is about his condition, his new birthday video and a semi organized bike, rally car, cruise poster signing for his room… all good stuff!! For Colin’s birthday I made a video talking about his many accomplishments and a couple of short videos featuring him. (sorry there’s only a few videos he would let me film him in ) Update 7/7 he sucked on some ice chips, responded by hitting his nurse when she pinched him. (That was astonishing.) Upadate 7/8 it’s his 18th birthday today and he seems to be doing well. We have video of him moving a little bit that is posted in his birthday video. He is making the move to Mary free bed on Monday, July 10 unless something happens.. medically that will not allow us to be able to do that. Next week Sunday, 7//15 starting at the Kent City high school. We are going to have a large poster For Any anybody who has been a part of his journey to come down and sign . We will be framing it and hanging it in his room… To you inspire him during his possible rehabilitation. Hopefully knowing that he has a large support from the community will push him to push his body to come back to life!!! it’s going to be a challenge that’s going to require lots of strength from not only his body his mind, but people like you…. Stay strong you all have been so great we could not wish for a better community to live in. Colin Update::: #colincrew (By Pat Rogers ) mom Another busy morning but a good one! 1 of many Doctors used word stable to describe Colin now. And PROGRESSING! Y'all it made me soar!!!!! We have a very long road ahead of us but we shall claim it and ride it like no tomorrow. My baby is still here with me and I REJOICE in the Lord for He is ALWAYS here for us. His bone marrow looks great. The Dr's are very impressed with the rate in which it he is growing more cells. All of his labs have been looking great so they are lessening the number of times per day they need to do them. He's going to be off antibiotics. They believe the fevers are neurological (neurostorming) which is normal. All of his infection tests were normal. . His vitals have been looking great. We will have decisions to make soon about where we will get his therapy done. I'm leaning more towards staying with Spectrum/Cornwell since he still needs more medical care and his neurological care. That will be impatient therapy at his own pace as opposed to going to Mary Free Bed where they have state mandates about how long and what kind of therapy he will need to do daily. I think we will do more adult therapy and neurological stuff for him in the near future. I'm pretty sure I can tell when he is awake and when he is sleeping now. They will be doing some testing with that too. He is handling physical and speech therapy much better. His vitals would scare the crap out of my before. He's even handling them sitting him up much better. Less resistance from him. When he turns 18 we will have to take legal guardianship of him until he is able to care for and make decisions for himself. He's just doing so good yall. So so so happy with his progress. July 4 This morning was a little bit. Bittersweet we’ve got a new MRI and Colin’s condition has not necessarily worsened Brain wise. … they also mentioned that the MRI could be showing fluid on the brain which may make the brain look in worse condition than it actually is…. That’s what I’m hoping for. I’m hoping that I heard them correctly and even if I didn’t hear them correctly, I’m going to tell myself that…. He’s got an infection they’re not quite certain where it’s at. They’re trying to track it down and treat it. They’re not trying to do unnecessary surgeries to him so he doesn’t suffer anymore than he already has. This video that I made gets in a little bit more of my personality, and how I psychologically look at things . And my reasoning behind seeing things the way that I see them…. Feel free to disagree with what I say and mention it in the comments I’m willing to listen to just about anybody or any possible scenario or angle that may differ from the one that I built in my brain. Tonight they are going to put him back on the ventilator at a low setting to see how he handles that all night and if he does good. He probably won't need the ventilator anymore. We will see how that goes. I miss him so much I can barely stand it. I've been praying extra today.... I don't know what more I can do other than pray day and night. I've already told The Lord I would follow his word for the rest of my life and never neglect him again. He has shown me He truly is here for us. I've always been a prayer, in good times and in bad. I've always told God many many times a day thank you for my blessings. He already knows I have tried my almost best to not take things for granted. I pray for every ambulance, police and fire siren I hear or see and have for years. I pray for people broke down on the side of the road and I have always prayed for my big ol family every day. What I need to do now is practice my positive thoughts. I'm pretty positive most of the time, but I do have my times. I'm going to help people more, people that really need other people. I will not take part in gossip and rumors. I will love every human more and more each day until I have no room for hate or anger. I thank all of you for being here for us, thinking about and praying for us. I can feel you and most importantly God definitely hears you. I believe he is gathering Colins strength all up so when he wakes up he can get started on his recovery without all the pain he is in now. As usual were posting updates on Facebook because a lot of folks are following the story… but we had an interesting comment. Actually a couple of comments in our post I had mentioned that the parents of the animals that did this to Colin said. “ kids will be kids”… I knew that it could’ve been hearsay, but I had heard it from several people that knew the family’s.. so I took it as truth, and they’ve never offered to give us any kind of condolences or response whatsoever so… during the update, someone with one follower and a brand new account no pictures or anything first said “How do you know the parents said that? “ And then there was a couple comments from family members to this person, and then this person Going by the fake name of Sususu “Alr Rick dumb dick idk u I'm just saying bc you act like his son so innocent he was a vape head and trump supporter everyone in school know that but suddenly it's all about him?” Well, obviously, nobody is standing up for these animals so you can only take this to believe that this is actually from one of the perpetrators …. It seems to be a fair conclusion to me. We have a very small community and not one single person even the cops prosecutor. Thanks Colin had anything to do with this he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I’m not an idiot my kid could’ve liked vape pens. I have no idea, but I know rarely he left the house didn’t have a drivers license slept with his stuffed animal, and his dog…. If he could type over 120 words per minute knew how to write python code, (no I don’t know what that is but I’ve been told it’s a big deal ) he also literally built computers for adults. On top of that he start a YouTube channel and had an 87,000 followers within five months…… it took me for years to get 40,000 followers and I do it full-time for a living…. So this wasn’t just some ordinary kid. We never seen the police at our home. He’s never been suspended from school. He got average grades this could’ve been anyone’s son or daughter for that matter…. I know my son was not great at anyone thing but my son was good at a lot of things and the things he was good at we’re better than most people’s best…… This was a very, very talented young man, and we all know talent doesn’t just come in the form of athleticism even though he was athletically fit, he wasn’t an athlete, and most kids academic abilities are often overshadowed by athleticism….. I don’t know what to think about all of this every day things seem to get worse and worse , we know 75% of his brain is going to die… we are clearly hoping on a miracle We know that the law in Michigan does not allow these criminals that were caught and on video will get away with absolutely no jail time ……. So please please get super angry with me put your child in this position and make sure you think of everything you can possibly do so this doesn’t happen to your kids too…. July 1 Five days before my son’s 18th birthday…… in the ICU at Helen Devos Children’s Hospital listed with catastrophic brain condition while three people that viciously dragged him 855 feet for 32 seconds at over 45 miles an hour committed a crime because “everybody at school knew he was a Trump supporter” This video is about his condition, and some very subtle improvements that actually give a little bit of hope…. The crime scene, and the rationalization that this was actually a hate crime…… along with the devastating news that just seems to keep coming. The people who did it to him will not do a day in jail…… I’m writing this and doing this because I need people to get angry I can’t do it alone I have worked very very hard making these videos takes me about five hours every day and it’s the only thing that keeps me sane but it’s the only thing that’s also driving me insane at the same time. I don’t know if that’s a good good thing great thing or what do you think about that but I made a very big mistake of going to the crime scene and seeing how far and Long that was… from my guesstimate, and putting all of the stories together They carried him on the side of the car for 855 feet for 32 seconds .. more than likely reaching speeds of over 40 miles an hour I personally could not get my Honda Civic with the four-cylinder to go that fast but I know they were driving a 2012 black Chrysler 300…. I don’t know if it was the V6 model or the V8 model and I don’t know if it was all wheel drive, but I do know from what I’ve been told they were going as fast as they possibly could… and let me tell you it was not 855 feet straight… it literally made me realize that there’s no possible way that the passenger could not have been holding my son’s arms as they rolled up the window to keep him on the side of the car that far…. So do with that information what you will…. Don’t take out any vengeance. I’m gonna make sure that these bastards spend as long in prison as they possibly can… and have consecutive sentences…. So today Wednesday, June 28 since making this video Today they’re gonna give him a trach and insert a feeding tube He’s also has a bad infection from buildup of fluid in his lungs . For the most part, he’s been stable. No response from his pupils. But has had some muscular responses like biting off his ventilator tube he broke it with his mouth. He’s losing weight, which was a big deal to him because he likes to work out. He was an exceptional young man , you’re gonna learn about in future videos. Like how he had a YouTube channel with 75,000 followers but nobody knew it because he didn’t tell anybody. Actually at one time and have like 87,000 followers but he didn’t really care all that much about it. He just did it because he enjoyed it. Or that he could type 120 words per minute And the other parents would bring their computers to him so he could fix them, and or he would build the computers based around their needs . He had a lot of other interest his favorite movie was gleaming the cube with Christian Slater from the 80s I’m working on trying to get him an autographed poster. I don’t know that Candlebox was one of his favorite bands, but the lead singer donated $1000 to his go fund me and gave me a phone call. Plus he just was an all-around great guy to talk to his name was Kevin I know Colin was a fan, but I wouldn’t say he was the biggest fan. He just enjoyed their music. He enjoyed a lot of different types of music, 90s rock and 80s Pop type stuff kind of like his dad. Basically to get right down to the point…. I have stood and let these doctors do everything they say they possibly can do .. physically… I haven’t said a single word until today to these nurses about what they were doing and or why they were doing it.. but  At this point they tell me that my son’s brain is going to die 75% of it it’s going to be gone and he’s going to need to be fed through a tube for the rest of his life and on a breathing machine….. personally at the moment I’m not sure what to do. When I asked, is the choices to make… the answer was “yes!” Immediately they said his brain injury was catastrophic, which basically means he’s gonna be paralyzed for the rest of his life. The only thing is Brain is controlling is his internal organs at best…. Obviously, this is devastating so So yesterday lots of people sent me videos that inspired me and just made me understand that maybe they don’t understand if there’s nothing they can do to help my son…. And it he’s gonna have to live that type of lifestyle well during his recovery, I’m gonna do the opposite of what they do. If that’s not supposed to work, I’m going to use stimulation because we all know plants grow higher with certain amount of sunlight….. water, etc. etc. can I expect my son to come back by doing nothing other than what they normally do? I don’t think so so I thought it was a terrific idea, so he could just sit there and listen to my voice…… The nurse told me that I could not do it. I told her I’m paying the bills you’re telling me that my son is not going to ever walk talk or be anything what is this going to hurt? ….. the remote possibility that 75% of his brain is not going to die away and only 50% of it’s going to be gone….. the brain is a misunderstood organ in the human body, extremely complicated, but has the ability to do amazing things that we don’t even understand… so instead of just pulling the plug…. That Pats never gonna let me pull anyways…. I’m going to push and I’m gonna try new things. Nothing physical, of course but I might end up flying him to Panama and possibly getting him stem cell injections…. I’m going to do research…. Needless to say he’s here I’m here and doing something is better than doing nothing then just sitting around, listening to Candlebox and watching sopranos….. To bear are you from having to watch this video even though I think you should basically we found out that 75% of Collins brain is going to die if he is kept alive it’s going to be through a feeding tube and he’s gonna need it something to breed for him. His brain injury is considered catastrophic. I looked up the medical definition of catastrophic. Yeah, it’s exactly how it says. No brain activity above the corneal stem…. So essentially these three dirtbags are gonna get away with this… they killed my son and then they’re out partying, and making Snapchat’s about it all over a $20 vape pen…. If you see them making any snap chats, or at any parties, having a good time it’s crucial that you do not give me the information. Give it to Officer Polson at the Kent County sheriffs department. This is necessary. You can tell me the story you just can’t share the actual evidence you collect collecting evidence is extremely important. Other than that it’s just hearsay. I wish I could treat it as hearsay because obviously I want to blame somebody I know exactly who to blame. I don’t think they’ll be any justice unless they get 30 to 40 years running 1,10 year sentence right after another. I’ve learned a lot and I’m gonna try to help people with the information that’s so hard for me to gather. I think it will give my sons life more purpose.. then just ours In the future, I may post a couple of very important things that I learned while I was here at the ICU. So this morning at the meeting they’re concerned that Collins progression is not getting better. Basically meaning they should see it signs of improvement but they’re not seeing them. They won’t tell me his name even though I already know their names they won’t tell me when he’s going to be arraigned. They act like I’m the one that did something wrong.
