Dr. Been Shares What Inspired his 'Long Story Short' Series
The inspiration for Dr. Been’s ‘Long (Covid) Story Short’ came from the current need to explore chronic inflammation, as inflammatory illnesses already plagued over half of Americans and much of the global population. Furthermore, with COVID-19 and vaccines, there will be vast numbers of long COVID and vaccine injuries for years to come. We have to understand inflammation, now more than ever before, and learn to approach chronic inflammation and diseases with lifestyle changes that can help us cope and heal.

Episode 17: Autophagy with Intermittent Fasting, Spermidine and Resveratrol
In this lecture we explore autophagy - what it is and how it works to clear pathogens (virus, bacteria, fungus, other offending agents) from the cell. The presence of spike protein within a cell can make autophagy impossible as SARS-COV-2 and spike protein inhibits the process. To overcome this, intermittent fasting, resveratrol, spermidine and some other therapeutics that can be used forpotentiallygreat effect.

In this episode of Long Story Short, we will demonstrate a few examples including persistence of the antigen, negative feedback mechanisms for the innate arm, roles of IL-10, IFN-gamma, and IL-12, antibody feedback and more.
In the next episode we will discuss the role of T Regulatory (TReg) cells.

Chronic Inflammation - Pathogen Elimination and Important Inflammatory Cytokines
Long Story Short with Dr. Been
Episode 10: Chronic Inflammation - Pathogen Elimination and Important Inflammatory Cytokines (Lecture 2)
In this talk we will discuss how the inflammatory process is executed to contain microbes, repair tissue damage and to remove microbes, damaged tissue cells, worn out cells and irritants.
We will look at:
• Sentinel cells (mast cells, macrophages, neutrophils) and how these cells sense and ingest the microbes, damaged cells, or irritants and then destroy them
• Important cytokines and chemokines, especially TNF, IL-1 and IL-6
• The process of respiratory burst or reactive oxygen species production in neutrophils
• Reactive nitric oxide species in macrophages
• Proteolytic enzymes
The point of the above topics is to bring to light the mechanisms which, when dysregulated, play at the core of chronic inflammation. We will then discuss how various therapies target and modulate these mechanisms.

Long Story Short Episode 14: Brain Fog and Neurogenesis
Long Story Short with Dr. Been
Episode 14: Brain Fog and Neurogenesis
Neurogenesis is the process of the formation of new neurons, their maturity, and their integration into the brain circuits. Let's review what causes a disruption of neurogenesis and what the outcomes of reduced neurogenesis are. As the pandemic of neurological and neuropsychiatric issues continues to expand because of long COVID and vaccine injuries, it is important for us all to understand what lifestyle and diet changes may help combat the neurological deterioration and restore the neurogenesis process.

FIGURE 15.6 Mechanism of action of CTLA-4. A, Cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4) expressed on regulatory T cells (Tregs) or activated T cells can inhibit the activation of responding T cells on the same antigen-presenting cells (APCs) (in trans). B, CTLA-4 on regulatory or activated T cells binds to B7 molecules on APCs and removes these molecules from the surface of the APCs, making the B7 co-stimulators unavailable to CD28 and blocking T cell activation. This action of CTLA-4 is able to suppress immune responses best when B7 levels are low, enabling CTLA-4 to out-compete the lower-affinity receptor CD28.

How Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) in Vaccines May Cause Allergic Reactions
PEG is an important part of the lipid nanoparticles based vaccines. Moderna COVID vaccine mRNA-1273 and Pfizer-Bio-n-Tech COVID vaccine BNT162b2 contain PEG2000 in abundance. Let's review why some people are getting allergic reactions with these vaccines, and the impact on the patient's immune system for the future PEGylated therapies.

Long Story Short Episode 6: The Characteristics of Long COVID: Long Story Short with Dr. Been, Episode 6
FLCCC Lecture 6 - Long COVID Symptoms
Title: Characteristics of Long COVID: An International Cohort with 7 Months of Symptoms.
Description
In this episode, Dr. Mobeen Syed discusses a study in which researchers from the UK and US collected data to present long COVID symptoms, how prolonged the symptoms were and the impact they had on patients. This discussion sets the stage for us to understand the body's organ systems involved, and the diversity and scale of clinical presentation. In upcoming talks we will discuss the pathophysiology and management approaches.

Long Story Short Episode 4 Part 3: Evidence of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Reaction in Long Haul COVID
The Long Story Short with Dr. Been
Epstein Barr Virus Reactivation in COVID
Dr. Been reviewed a study from China published in May 2021 concluding a high incidence of EBV co-infection in COVID-19 patients. EBV/SARS-CoV-2 coinfection was associated with fever and increased inflammation. EBV reactivation may be associated with the severity of COVID-19. The reactivation of EBV may also be the cause of the COVID long haul symptoms.
