THE COSMIC WAR AND THE MOST HIGH GOD BY ABRI BRANCKEN
Over the past couple of weeks, we have been studying Genesis 6 and the consequences of the rebellion of the Watchers (fallen angels). We have discovered that Christians often lack a supernatural worldview of the scriptures, causing us not to understand large portions of the Bible. We have also focused on the fact that many existing supernatural beings take up residency in particular locations, over cities and nations. In Genesis 10, we read about the Table of Nations, the list of the founders of 70 nations descended from Noah’s three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The list includes 26 descendants of Shem, 30 descendants of Ham, and 14 descendants of Japheth. The Table of Nations offers a unique and important information resource regarding the early history and migration of humans before the time of Abraham. Genesis Chapter 10 indicates the separate locations of the races, and Chapter 11 explains how the separation occurred.
In this session, we continue our study on the end times and how Jesus came to reverse the curse...

THE GATES OF HELL WILL NOT “PREVAIL” - (MATT 16:13-16) BY DR ABRI BRANCKEN
In Matthew 16, we read about Jesus’ journey with his disciples to Caesarea Philippi, located in the Golan Heights region in northern Israel. Caesarea Philippi hosts one of the largest springs feeding the Jordan River. It is a beautiful green and fertile region that, during Biblical times, was an epicentre of pagan religious worship. In Old Testament times, this region was known as Bashan and was controlled by two kings, Sihon and Og. The Rephaim and the Anakim (giant tribes Deut 2:10–12) lived there. Why did Jesus walk over 40 km to ask His disciples, "Who do you say that I AM?" The answer might surprise you.

THE GIANTS, PRE AND POST-FLOOD And how Jesus came to reverse the curse of the Watchers (
In this session, Abri will explain how Jesus came to reverse the curse of sin in Eden, the Work of the Watchers and the giants. I want to reiterate: Although this topic might sound strange to most Christians and very unfamiliar, we must consider what was familiar to the Jews of the first century. We need to consider their intellectual and theological frame of reference. The proper context for understanding the New Testament isn’t our Christian tradition. Instead, the context that produced the New Testament must guide us.

The Watchers, Nephilim and Procreation by Abri Brancken
The antediluvian world was marked with continued sinful interbreeding and unification between angels and humanity, animals, birds, etc. The giants that were born from this unholy union with women were highly violent in nature and turned against humanity. They had bodies like humans but with non-human souls. Some oppose the supernatural angelic view of Genesis 6:1-4 because of the sexual component. It is too much for the natural modern common mind. An appeal is usually made by referencing Matthew 22:23-33. In this session, we consider what the Bible says about angels and procreation.

The Watchers and Mount Hermon by Dr Abri Brancken
The fallen angels and mount Hermon (Genesis 6:1-4):
This passage is one of the most marginalised passages in the entire Bible. Many pastors and Bible scholars do all they can to avoid taking it at face value, opting for safe interpretations. The majority of Christians lack a supernatural view of Scripture and of life. We read about the supernatural dimension, angels, demons, etc., yet we go about our day as if the supernatural world is not as ‘real’ as depicted in Scripture. The church is bending under the weight of its own rationalism, leaning toward a scientific model of life rather than viewing Scripture within its context. In this sermon Abri explores the supernatural view of Genesis 6:1-4.

How to Read and Interpret the Bible (Part 3) by Dr Abri Brancken
Applying some of the principles of Biblical interpretation to 1 Tim 2:8-15.
PRINCIPLES OF BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION
Principle 1 - Consider the type of literature you are reading.
Principle 2 – Consider the context.
Principle 3 - The author’s intention.
Principle 4 - Read the text for its plain and obvious meaning
Principle 5 - Look carefully at the language of the text.
Principle 6 - Notice the various theological themes in the text.
Principle 7 - Use the Bible to help interpret itself.
Principle 8 - Always take a God-centered perspective for interpreting your text.
Principle 9 - Interpretation must be distinguished from application.
Christians must learn proper hermeneutics to interpret the Bible for themselves. Remember this. Hermeneutics matter because people are sinful, and sinful man, can twist the words of the Bible into something God didn’t ever intend.

How to Read and Interpret the Bible (Part 2) - by Dr Abri Brancken
9 PRINCIPLES OF BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION (by Dr Abri Brancken)
When you want to understand something in the Bible, you must bridge the gap between the original audience and yourself. The fact that we are separated today from the original setting of the writing of Scripture makes the task of interpretation more challenging. For this reason, there are guidelines to help you determine the original intent of the Biblical writers.

How to Read and Interpret the Bible (Part 1) - by Dr Abri Brancken
This is Part 1 on How to Read and Interpret the Bible by Dr Abri Brancken.
ABOUT THIS SERMON:
At Shiloh Fellowship, we want to equip our members for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4). For this reason, we are presenting this mini-series on reading and interpreting the Bible, also called Hermeneutics. Biblical hermeneutics is the study of the principles and methods of interpreting the text of the Bible. Second Timothy 2:15 commands believers to be involved in hermeneutics: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who . . . correctly handles the word of truth.” Biblical hermeneutics aims to help us know how to correctly interpret, understand, and apply the Bible. The Bible says what it means and means what it says. For Jews and Christians throughout their histories, the primary purpose of hermeneutics and the exegetical methods employed in interpretation has been to discover the truths and values expressed in the Bible.
If you hunger to grow in your understanding of the Bible, feel free to come and visit us at Shiloh Fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Feast of Trumpets
Beginning the third and final festival season, the Feast of Trumpets marks a significant change from the previous holy days in God’s plan of salvation. All of the previous festivals—Passover, Unleavened Bread and Pentecost—deal directly with one’s personal commitment to God’s calling, but the fall holy days focus on God’s direct intervention to restore the world and set up the Kingdom of God on earth.

The Fall Feasts of the Bible by Dr Abri Brancken
In this session, Abri looks at the Fall Feasts of the Bible. There Biblical Feasts. God commanded His people: Have a feast! Take a break! Sadly, many Christians don't understand the importance of the Old Testament Festivals and how they relate to Jesus. The Biblical Feasts were times when the people of God would commemorate redemptive acts of the Lord. All of the Feasts focus on the Messiah in some way or another. To help us prepare for His first and second coming, the LORD has given us feasts and celebrations that point towards His return. They serve as rehearsals, blueprints of what is to come. There are spring feasts and fall feasts. The spring feasts (Passover, Unleavened Bread, First-Fruits and Pentecost) take place around March-April, and the fall feasts (Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Tabernacles) occur around September-October of each year.

Deception and the End Times
Jesus gathered with some of His disciples on the Mount of Olives and explained events that would occur during the end times. He mentioned various signs to help us recognise the End of the Age. One of the first things Jesus warned his disciples about regarding the last days is "deception". He is not casually telling them to be aware that deception will exist but to take heed or watch (a primary verb in Greek). It is a command to be watchful. We need to guard against deception purposefully.
