This, the title song from the Change My Mind album, was born in a toxic job situation at a prestigious bank. How was it that I found myself at a job that I didn't want after five years of studying what I wasn't interested in just to show the world my worth? I found myself in the wrong place and in a stressful situation. I needed to say no and I did. In time I understood that the reason I had tricked myself into wasting many years was that I had been "chasing after the wind", i.e. trying to prove my worth through what I did. That fear of what others thought of me drove me to become someone I wasn't at that bank job. I needed to find my way back to who I was and this song was the beginning of my journey. Together the album and the book explain the 18" between my head and my heart and how God broke through the pain of my childhood so my heart could be free to love him.

It's hard to keep life in the balance. It was hard for Mary and Martha who were about to throw a party for Jesus thousands of years ago and it is even harder today. We need to make choices in order to "stay in the vine" (keep ourselves locked into God's winning mindset). Jesus promised to leave his peace with us - a peace that passes all understanding. It's ours for the taking. But life distracts us from the unconditional love and peace that God provides and we tend to complicate hanging out with God too. Listen to the song The Vine and think about your life, your situation. It is only when you give Him all your emotion and devotion that the real breakthrough comes and life flows with His peace all day long, day after day. The funny thing about Jesus is that you won't understand the peace he gives unless you come to him like a child - with simple faith. All he wants to do is help you in this crazy world, give you peace of mind and you'll find it only in his arms of love. I found it and that's why I wrote this song.
