Debi's Design Diary DIY Paint: Sandy Blonde and White Swan ($13 for sample size jar)
DIY Big Top ($21.50)
DIY Decrepit Dust Light ($14)
DIY Clear Wax ($13)
Painter's tape ($4)
Faux leather remnant for lining (approx. 3/4 yard)
2 tiny buttons to cover prongs inside suitcase where brass nameplate prongs protruded through ($1)
Small brass plate (optional; I used a brass plate from an old framed print)
Sand paper, 240 grit
Brown bag
Heat n Bond Ultra Hold ($8 for a 5-yard roll)
Sparkle & putty knife
Teflon protective sheet
Folk Art acrylic paint
TOOLS
Cricut Easypress and Easypress Mini (used to apply lining)
Paint brushes made for clay-based paint and for applying wax
JRV Stencil, Grain Sack Stripes
JRV stencil brush
Scissors
Rotary Cutter
Metal ruler
Buffing brush
Microfiber cloth
Cricut Maker and engraving tool (for brass name plate)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Heat gun
Iron
Small artist brush
HOW TO DO IT
1) Clean inside and outside of suitcase including hardware
2) Remove as much of the paper lining as possible using heat gun
3) Apply 1 coat of DIY Salvation Solution (stain blocker) to interior and exterior
4) Paint interior with DIY paint in Sandy Blonde (2 coats)
5) Apply Big Top to interior
6) Cut pieces of Heat 'n Bond to match interior vinyl pieces; fuse to back of vinyl
7) Apply fused vinyl (vinyl with Heat 'n Bond fused to back) to interior of suitcase top, bottom and sides (Cricut EasyPress and mini EasyPress)
8) Paint exterior trim DIY Sandy Blonde (2 coats)
9) Paint main exterior DIY White Swan (2 coats)
"10) Apply vertical stripes on front and back in DIY Sandy Blonde (JRV stencil “Grain Sack Stripes”
Painter’s Tape)"
11) Apply clear wax and simultaneously apply white Decrepit Dust (ensure that all heat required on interior is complete first) (Allow to dry overnight)
12) Paint hardware (2-3 coats) including brass name plate (not yet attached) (Folk Art Taupe Metallic acrylic paint)
13) Engrave painted brass name plate and apply above handle (Cricut Maker engraving tool)
14) Paint handle White Swan (3 coats)
15) Seal handle with DIY Big Top
16) Apply brass plate above handle (Hammer and support beam)
17) Cover sharp points from nails (brass plate) with buttons using hot glue

12x12 Scrapbook Paper Storage from Vintage Cabinet
Thrift store find (shelf supports) plus vintage stereo cabinet resulted in 12x12 paper storage solution. Only additional items needed were some white paint and 3 sheets of 1/4 inch MDF cut by the local home improvement store into 18 shelves.
