How to water your garden seedlings
How to water, when to water, and signs to look for. Instead of guessing how and when to water, the best method is to understand a plant's stressors, how it responds, and how you can use that knowledge to let your plants "tell you" when to water.

Making some tweaks to the swale after a large rain. I knew I would need to make some changes, but wanted the rain to show me where. I discuss how to optimize a swale and adjust it for best results.

Jerusalem Artichoke Deruny - cooking with an incredible Food Forest crop
What is the point of growing our food if we don't know how to cook with it. cooking should be a mandatory skill that every human learns. Survival skill. Save money. Eat healthier.
Previously I discussed growing these things and why they are my #1 recommended crop: https://youtu.be/Eiy0F6HFqlA. Check out the harvest at the 8 min mark!
Today, half a year later, we USE THEM and make a Ukrainian favorite, Deruny, substituting Jerusalem Artichokes for the potatoes. Amazing dish, and absolutely delicious!
5lbs Jerusalem Artichokes (roughly)
1 large onion
1 Egg
8 TBSP flour (roughly)
1/4 TBSP Baking Soda
Salt to taste (I use none)
That's it. Easy peasy. Serve with salsa, cottage cheese, cream cheese, or my favorite an over-easy egg and avocado.
Make sure to boil for 25 to 30 minutes, or you will Dutch-oven your house. This breaks down the inulin which otherwise will give you indigestion problems. That is a nice way to put it.

Propagating Strawberries for food and profit
Getting the drone out and propagating some strawberries. One of the best plants you can put into your permaculture food forest. Very cold hardy, good heat resistance, great production, delicious, and grows like a weed. One of the easiest plants to propagate. 4 crowns cost me $10, and I have thousands now only a few years later.
You can just keep expanding your food forest for free, or you can pot these up and sell them CHEAP for a buck each. You can dig 20 up in 2 minutes. This is a great way to generate a side hustle, but also save your family money with free, healthy, chemical free-food.
Store-bought strawberries are picked green and blanketed with nitrogen to redden. And they taste like they are green - because they didn't ripen on the plant. There is NOTHING like a fresh strawberry that was grown without chemicals, in nutrient rich soils.

How to become a millionaire propagating plants - daffodils (sound quality issues - file corrupted)
Quick note: Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to fix this video and the sound quality issues. The editor didn't seem to change the volume (I reduce it to 2% volume in the editor - the default is 75%). It was quieter in the editor, but when it uploaded it seems to have left it at full blast. Please forgive the audio issues, and hopefully you still got value out of it. I also hope the next video on strawberry propagation is better). /end quick note.
Propagating daffodils to become a billionaire. This video shows every step you need to do to make a trillion dollars propagating plants, so that you can nail out the banks when they fail.
Permaculture is about living regeneratively on the planet, and here we regenerate mad stacks of cash in a daffodil side hustle.

Prepping part 3, Your sphere of control, your mental state, and taking results-oriented action
Grass to Garden guide: https://youtu.be/hAaHB_wqpIA
Focus all your effort on your circle of influence. We need to accept feedback and adjust. We need to take control of our mental state. We need to focus on results-oriented action that benefits us. We do that by acknowledging our sphere of control, and reacting accordingly.
Stay calm, stay healthy, but more importantly ACT. Get off Netflix and build a garden, and shore up your preps. Do you want to be buying rice today or next month? Be safe, but assess your situation and fix it.

Prepping, permaculture, self sufficiency, politics, let's talk - part 1 economics
My hot take on Coronavirus. Here we talk about economics, bailouts, disruption, futurism, 2nd and 3rd industrial revolution economy, propping up failed systems, and maybe what we should be learning from this as we move to the future. We MUST address the root cause economic problems and build our future world to be more resilient.
Videos will be solution focused, especially future videos. This one needs to lay some foundation down for what the problems are. Future videos will really be solutions focused, and will also focus on your sphere of control.

Mont Tremblant's longest run is a beginner run called Nansen. This is a full run at normal speed. Interested in vacationing at Tremblant, but have beginner skiers who you are not sure if they will enjoy it? They absolutely will.
This run has amazing vistas, and zero challenging spots, and is the perfect place for a new skier to learn the ropes and develop confidence at their own pace.

Swales - in depth guide, theory, how to build them, and why they work.
4 out of 5 dentists recommend it.
Big water wants you to keep spending time and energy watering your plants. What they don't want you to know is that at more than 29% of the world's land mass is covered in their product, and falls for free during giveaway events called rainstorms.
However, they are in cahoots with "Big-Contouring" who have set up the entire world to drain that water to rivers and oceans.
With these simple land hacks, you can reshape your land and "fight the big powers" by keeping that water in your soils. Combing this with soil building challenges (discussed in a future soil microbiology collaboration / soil unboxing video) you can keep months worth of this premium product in your soils, all for free! these hacks work anywhere in the world, any climate, any zone.
This is the best video on the internet.
Permaculture, swales, water harvesting, gardening tips, fortnite, tik tok, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, makeup tutorial, google find my video and show it to unsuspecting strangers.

CC series (Water - Part 1), Let's change the earth - literally.
Continuing with the climate change videos, but focusing on actions individuals can take which will help heal the planet but more importantly make YOUR life better.
Here we discuss the importance on water staying IN soils and not running across the top of soils. Slowing, spreading and sinking water. Not only does this recharge aquifers, it prevents pollution runoff, it maximizes soil life and photosynthesis, which means your garden grows better! plus, water stored in soils doesn't evaporate away. Less watering, needed, less work.
These are tips we can all use, to make our lives easier.

Keeping the focus on how YOUR life can improve by your actions - permaculture garden/climate change
A core tenet of permaculture (and engineering) is to obseeve, accept feedback, and optimize. I am doing that here, with the climate change video series, and am seeking your feedback on this decision.
The focus is going to move away from discussing climate change in isolation, and instead focus on things YOU can do, to make YOUR life better, and hey, they also impact climate change (if it turns out to be a thing).
The goal: if something makes sense from a financial standpoint, it makes your life better in a multitude of ways, it helps build self sufficiency and resilience in your life, then shouldn't it be a no brainer? AND if it just so happens to help combat climate change, then cool. But even if someone doesn't believe that's a thing, that's cool too, because they may do it just because it makes sense financially.
So let's pivot, adjust, and focus on inspiring change through positive actions. Not only for healing the planets but for healing the individual.

Climate change series - Introduction, Uniting to fight commonalities we can all agree on
WARNING - this video is meant to inspire CHANGE AND ACTION. Some scenes depicted may cause anxiety, or be otherwise disturbing. My intention and hope is to leave the watcher feeling equal parts upset and empowered, because we know how to fix this. We have the solutions.
My goal is to change the narrative surrounding Climate Change from one of division to one of unity. From opposites "factions" yelling at eachother, lobbing insults from the fortress ramparts we have constructed on this topic - distractedly nitpicking minor details - and instead we can move towards unification by focusing the discussion on the things we can all agree on.
To do this, we must listen to eachother. We must value eachother and our opinions. We must value and hold the standard of true and honest science. And mostly we must seek to find; and work towards, a common goal. We don't need to agree on the motivation why we choose to take action - as long as we all agree on where that action takes us. We can all agree and unify behind the benefit of humans living sustainably on a fertile and healthy planet.
To get there, we must fight against the disconnection from nature which the past 200 years has created. We must re-integrate ourselves into nature, and work towards that on a daily basis. Because when ecosystems somewhere else are destroyed, we are complacent. But when the river that feeds the soils that feeds our children are damaged, we fight to the death.
And now is the time for fighting to the death. Not only because we need nature more than it needs us, but because we ARE nature.
