Matthew Phillips defeated Paul Hilz by TKO after the Hilz’s corner called the fight after the third round.
#Matthew Phillips #bybextreme #Paul Hilz #bareknuckle #bybextreme
Matt tells #BareKnucklenews that his first reaction to the fight was that Paul way tougher than he thought:
"I never underestimate my opponents and I'm just happy I got the victory. I'm happy that, you know, even though it may not look it, I'm super healthy right now. My right hand is a little bit sore and I couldn't be more grateful to have the win and be in one piece right now."
Matt describes the damage he inflicted on Paul's face and why this was a hard fought fight
"You know, he got me with some shots. I couldn't see out of my left eye for a few seconds in there. So I just said, Let's just go to war. And, you know, that's what happened. He said his nickname is a soul snatcher war ready, you know, but then snatched my soul and he wasn't ready for that war with me"
Phillips told us that the he fight played out exactly as he anticipated, thanks to his extensive combat sports experience.
The undefeated Phillips who switched camps signed a multi fight deal with BYB Extreme earlier this year had been fighting under the BKFC banner and was ranked 5th in the BKFC lightweight division.
.
Matt told wants a shot at the gold, but has not ruled out the possibility of kickboxing for national titles or returning to gladius fights.

"Watch Robert Barry Sensational #BKFC Debut: A Rising Star Emerges in Welterweight Division!"
In an impressive debut for BKFC, Robert Barry, a 26-year-old welterweight with a record of 1-0, showcased his talent and made a name for himself. The southpaw fighter started the match with a bang, unleashing powerful punches and flooring his opponent, Ben Bonner (1-1), with a straight left.
#bkfc46 #robertbarry #benbonner #bareknucklenews #bkfc
As the second round unfolded, Barry continued to dominate, but Bonner managed to stage a remarkable comeback in the third round. However, Bonner's hopes were short-lived as he was knocked down once again in the fourth round, ultimately leading to the fight's conclusion in the fifth and final round.
The key to his victory, according to Robert, was his determination and ability to keep going despite taking big shots.
"Just grit. Just keep going. He was landing some big shots on us and to be honest, they gave us quite a bit of a buzz. I enjoyed it. Made us want to keep going going forward, keep taking them and throw them back".
He admits to feeling nerves when performing in front of his hometown crowd in Newcastle, but ultimately found it amazing to make his debut there.
Transitioning to bare knuckle fighting was challenging for Robert, particularly in anticipating the impact of punches without gloves.
"To be honest, the hardest part was the unexpected. Obviously, you can't train bare knuckle so you don't know what it's going to be like to take a bare knuckle punch. Until I'd got in there tonight. Like I said, I took a few bare knuckle few of his punches clean and they give us a bit of a buzz. So I thought, I think I'm going to be all right tonight."
Barry plans to work on his movement and defense. He is open to facing any opponent chosen by the promoter and expresses gratitude to his sponsors and fans for their support.

#JonBarnard Defeats Gareth Van Hook In Impressive Fashion! #bybextreme
Jon Barnard won his second bare knuckle bout within six weeks, remaining unbeaten. He defeated Gareth Van Hook by second-round TKO.
#byb #byb18 #susancingari #bareknucklenews #tko #jonbarnard
He told #bareknuckle news:
"I just knew that I was going to win this fight for the for the country of the United States. So, you know, that was my goal is also to to show that my first fight wasn't a fluke. I got my first win and, you know, under two minutes. And I was like, oh, maybe that was a fluke. So hopefully today I was able to prove myself.
Fighting above his weight class did not faze him, as he believes weight is not a factor when skills are involved.
"I just knew that weight is not a factor when you got skills, you know, precision over timing, timing over power. I did not feel like this is not a huge change in my weight class. But if I do drop to 135, it'll be much faster and much more explosive, you know, a little bit more agile, smoother with my punches and technique, my cardio is going to be even extraordinary out the roof, you know? "
Barnard went on to say that transitioning from MMA to bare knuckle was natural for him, as he grew up fighting on the streets of Hawaii, and is biggest strength as a fighter is his ability to stay composed.

Incredible First-Round KO: Paul 'Cookie' Cook Shuts Down Aaron Foster #bkfc46
Fighting in the welterweight division, Paul ‘Cookie’ Cook, (1-0), stopped Aaron Foster (0-1) in the first round. He saw the opening for the body shot that ultimately led to the knockout, Cook dropped Foster twice before being declared the winner at :41 of the opening stanza.
#paulcook #bkfc46 #bkfc #bkfcuk #bareknuckle #aaronfoster
The experience of his UFC debut in Newcastle was amazing for him, especially since he hadn't competed since 2016.Getting back to fighting was made easier by training with different gyms and having faith in his preparation.
Cook told #bareknucklenews:
I've been going to different gyms to get the training, and so basically all the way up to this fight, I've been having faith in the gyms, the loads of different lads. So that was just another fight, just another heavy sparring session."
Cook had no trouble transitioning to bare knuckle fighting, as he had always been drawn to the thrill of a good scrap. The sensation of connecting with bare knuckles was truly exhilarating for him. In fact, Cook had quite a lot to say about his first experience fighting bare knuckle. He described it like this
"It's brutal. There's no way you can escape in MMA. You can look for takedowns if you're hurt, injured, if you're injured. In this sport, you cannot hide from it. You've just have to dig deep and go for it."
Cook says he is ready to go again and will take on anyone BKFC has for him.

#LTNelson Eyes Gold Following #BYB18 Victory!
LT Nelson put away Dan McGraffin with a KO in the first frame of their fight at BYB 18.
#BYBExtreme #BYB18 #BYBvsBKB #PoliceGazetteCup #BKB #bareknuckle #susancingari #LorawntTNelson #bareknuckleboxing #BYBLondon #DanMcGraffin
Nelson says he always comes out to throw down and be an entertainer for the fans. Multiple knockdowns were scored for LT here in the opening stanza of this succinct fight.
Nelson really tried to avoid the firefight he is generally so keen to indulge in. He stayed composed and drew out the opponent’s punches to connect for optimal effect.
When asked about how important this win today was after his BYB interim title loss against Sam Liera, Nelson said,
“It’s very important. You know, I didn’t believe I lost that fight against Sam Liera. I hit it. I dropped him in the fifth. The ref literally counted all the way to ten and then let it keep going somehow. But big up to Sam. Also a great fighter. But this shows people I’m ready, I’m back. I’m taking that belt. No one can stop me.”
Nelson has lots of respect for England and the people within it. In fact, he also jokingly said he’d ask his opponent McGraffin for the best fish & chips and English breakfast recommendations.
He loves it out there, but came to represent the US and do what needed to be done. Nelson’s dad is from the US, and LT as well as his mother are from South Africa.
After a brief on-screen cameo from former BKFC cruiserweight champion Hector Lombard, the self-professed 155-pounder playfully said he’d fight Lombard at 205 lbs if the money was right.
Nelson loves bare knuckle for it’s throwback vibe, and how the original perceptions of this sport being a street fight are clearing way to an emerging fight IQ immersed in unique techniques.
The Mighty Trigon forces the fight, and that favors Nelson’s desires when competing.
Nelson felt a lot of pride being part of this Police Gazette International Cup and also for getting a 2022 bare knuckle fight of the year award from the Bare Knuckle Hall of Fame coming up.

#ShelbyCannon's Jaw-Dropping Debut: Unforgettable Moments at #BYB18
Shelby Cannon bested Tamyln Kappen via a third-round verbal submission at BYB 18.
#BYBExtreme #BYB18 #BYBvsBKB #PoliceGazetteCup #BKB #bareknuckle #susancingari #ShelbyCannon #bareknuckleboxing #BYBLondon #TamylnKappen
The southpaw known as ‘Boom Boom’ has had ten amateur MMA fights and made her bare-knuckle boxing debut at the June 25th cross-promotional event.
Cannon felt good about the W and felt she needed it here as a debutant.
Cannon’s assessment was that her lack of timidity and desire to throw hands lead to the win over her more sweet science-focused opponent. Cannon anticipated more of a five-round fight, but was happy with the stoppage.
Kappen was also making her bare-knuckle debut and entered the Trigon with a big boxing background. Considering Cannon’s MMA background, and if any adapting was needed to fight someone with more boxing-specific experience, Cannon said,
“I mean, honestly, I noticed that I came out stronger at the beginning, where she was kind of feeling it out - being a little bit more professional about it. As the rounds went on, she had gotten stronger and her hits had gotten harder. So for me, it was the opposite.”
“I think that honestly, my message to her is just to keep progressing forward, because as the rounds went on, she was getting a lot tougher. So yeah, that was I think the biggest difference.”
Cannon had planted Kappen to the canvas and smelled the proverbial blood in the water as the finish emerged not long thereafter.
Cannon utilized many angles and staying in tight as she readied for bare-knuckle - not the usual MMA camp, with more jiu-jitsu and other martial arts considerations.
She felt proud to represent the US and that team BYB bested BKB for the inaugural Police Gazette International Cup. Cannon anticipated nerves heading in, but honed it for her performance to be situationally aware.
Cannon has a four-fight contract and is looking forward to her sophomore effort in bare-knuckle boxing and in BYB Extreme’s Mighty Trigon specifically. She is hoping they continue to build the 115 lb division to increase her depth of competition.
Shelby Cannon feels bare knuckle is a lot safer than her former sport of MMA, and came to that conclusion after researching the empirical evidence around this new, yet old, combat sport.

#TomStokes Lightning Quick #BYB18 Win: How He Did It
Tom Stokes put away Will Chope thirty-two seconds into their showdown at BYB 18.
#BYBExtreme #BYB18 #BYBvsBKB #PoliceGazetteCup #BKB #bareknuckle #susancingari #TomStokes #bareknuckleboxing #BYBLondon #WillChope
Stokes felt over the moon after his successful bare-knuckle debut and said there’s no feeling like this.
When asked how he saw the opening for the fight-ending shot, Stokes said, “Yeah, it was a bit like - we was both a bit edgy to start off with. Then I threw a couple of feints and as he’s going to come in, I just closed it with a left hook. He fell right onto it, and that was all she wrote, really.”
His opponent had a lot of experience on him over several combat sports. When asked how he overcame all of that knowledge from Chope, Stokes stated,
“I mean, he’s got experience, but in a lot of different backgrounds, whereas I am just boxing. I’ve got a boxing background. So I know I can box. So I knew what I had to do tonight and I just stuck to the game plan and it’s paid off quicker than I expected.”
Tom Stokes aimed to work the body and the head and see what crumbled first. Didn’t get to implement the game plan as fully with Stokes thinking Chope walked on to a devastating shot early on.
The experienced gloved boxer enjoyed the tight dimensions of The Mighty Trigon here. Stokes feels his deep engine is a great attribute as he pushed an immediate pace in this BYB Extreme debut effort.
The West Midlands mauler tied the series 1-1 between team BYB vs team BKB during that juncture in the card at the Police Gazette International Cup. Though team BKB ended up falling short, Stokes seemed proud to represent the UK in this historic cross-promotional event.
As for what’s next, BKB and BYB are on his radar with Stokes excitedly looking towards more bare-knuckle boxing action in his future.

#BKFC46: Discover the Power of a 'Never Quit' Attitude with #kalebharris
Kaleb Harris was stopped in the fifth frame of his fight versus Rico Franco in the headliner of BKFC 46.
#BKFC #BKFCNewcastle #KalebHarris #bareknuckle #susancingari #BKFC46 #RicoFranco
Harris, the ranked welterweight, was knocked down again and again by Franco, and he showed incredible heart throughout. Harris said, “We don’t quit,” and imparts that to his students. Though he kept trying to get his legs back under him, he could not do so after the first or second knockdown.
Harris quipped that he just got caught at the right time. But he used his heart and desire to set an example for his students to carry him against the former BKB champion.
‘Lionheart’ dealt with a lot of travel/event-related stresses getting over to the UK. Harris received crowdfunded money from fans to get a passport to be able to indulge in this UK-based fight opportunity. All that being said, the former BKFC welterweight title contender enjoyed being in the UK while there and would like to compete overseas again.
Harris frequently represents suicide awareness with the flag he brings out for his fights. Kaleb Harris wants to inspire people and foresees a brighter day tomorrow despite this representing a dark day to him. He wants to represent for every nerdy kid into Pokemon and Power Rangers that you can live out your dreams.
Rico Franco paid Harris a lot of respect after the fight, and when asked for his response on that, Harris said,
“He’s a warrior man. I knew coming into this fight that he was going to be one of the toughest opponents that I had. My goal was to come out here obviously and win. But to show everybody that us southern boys from Mississippi, we’re not easy to put down. I’m at the top tier of BKFC. I’m still at the top tier of BKFC and I’ll be fighting again soon.”
“But all the respect to Rico Franco, I hope he enjoys his win tonight. I hope to see him in the ring again one day.”

Unbelievable Knockdowns by #RicoFranco at #BKFC46
Rico Franco finished Kaleb Harris in the final frame of their main event bout at BKFC 46.
#BKFC #BKFCNewcastle #KalebHarris #bareknuckle #susancingari #BKFC46 #ricofranco
The fifth-round stoppage saw Harris show tremendous heart, rallying after being dropped nearly ten times, but he was ultimately broken down by Franco.
‘Bon Bon’ halted Harris, not only a top five ranked 165 pounder in the company, but someone who also previously contended for the BKFC welterweight belt. Franco broke two BKFC records with most overall knockdowns at nine and most knockdowns in a round at five.
When asked for his thoughts on this incredible history-making victory, Franco said,
“Yeah, definitely. Yeah, we just - we just keep coming till death. We got a - we got a massive step up in opponent. But listen, he’s never been stopped and I wanted to stop him. I’ve just made a statement in here, so they’re all getting it now. Told you we’re not playing in this game. It’s no game to play around. They’re all having it.”
He called Harris a true warrior and Franco stated that he was a hard competitor to crack.
Before his mom passed away, she told Rico that one day he would be under bright lights. He strives to keep working towards that vision and increasing his profile with her memory in mind.
Not long ago, Franco also had his own personal near-death experience and overcame health issues that brought him to rock bottom. It makes his fights seem like a walk in the park comparatively and it’s something that galvanized Franco’s already strong resolve.
Rico Franco now has a 3-0 BKFC-specific record and debuted earlier this year in March. That said, he’s getting married in August and will look to finally enjoy a bit of a break now.
Franco, the former BKB champion and now the number five ranked welterweight in BKFC, called out Luis Palomino next. The number one pound-for-pound fighter and dual division titleholder stands atop Franco’s 165-pound class and the UK warrior wants “Baboon’ next. Franco is looking to fight in the States and said he’d fight Palomino tomorrow if BKFC asked.

Unbelievable! #MikeLee's Mind-Blowing First Round KO Debut ~#bkfc45
Mike Lee on Devastating First Round KO Debut at BKFC 45
#BKFC #BKFCHollywood #MikeLee #bareknuckle #susancingari ##BKFC45 #DrewNolan
Mike Lee scored a sub-ninety-second first-round KO against Drew Nolan at BKFC 45. Lee made his BKFC debut and made an impact in this cruiserweight contest on the event’s preliminary portion.
He felt sensational after this huge win but Lee remembers very little from the high-paced effort. Though it was very rooted in instinctual reactions, there was fight IQ still to be found. Mid-fight, Lee switched up from ineffective straights to hooks around the guard and further amended his approach en route to the win.
Mike Lee wanted to start the night off right and felt like he succeeded in that pursuit. He knew nothing about Nolan but initially thought to use his distance and reach advantage as the keys to win.
There was something about Lee seeing his opponent that prompted a gameplan switch. One where he took Nolan out with a more intense forward approach in a tighter range.
Lee’s prior experience in combat sports was MMA-based. He spent six years on the amateur circuit and won titles across three South Florida promotions.
Stephen Townsel and former BKFC middleweight champion Francesco Ricchi put the pressure on Mike Lee to try bare knuckle. Lee thought he’d be an MMA purist a short time ago but that pair of pugilists drove him to give a new combat sport a try. Never in a million years thought he’d be part of BKFC but now Lee seemingly has quite the hunger for it
When asked what he thought of the experience bare-knuckle boxing, Lee said, “I’m doing it again. It was freakin’ amazing.”

Unforgettable Battle: #RyanJett's Thrilling Victory and #FightoftheNight #byb18
USA’s Ryan Jett beat Martin Reffell by unanimous decision taking Fight of the Night honors as well.

The fight was a challenge and went the full distance, with Ryan hitting his opponent with many punches, despite the opponent's resilience. His right eye became closed during the fight, due to a good jab and hook from his opponent, which is expected in bare knuckle fighting.
Jett told us: "Yeah, he was pretty tough. Long fight went the distance. It's been the first time in a long time. I got first round finish knockouts. I make no excuses, but this one was supposed to be the same thing too, though. Well, yeah. Oh, he caught me with a good jab and then a good hook one time also. And then, you know, it's bare knuckle. You know the eyes. You know, they going to cut and swell up easy. So we're not surprised."
Both fighters showed respect for each other at the end of the fight. Ryan was not surprised by his opponent's resistance, as he had previously seen him take shots in other fights. And the London crowd did not faze Ryan, as he was used to fighting away from home and dealing with biased audiences.
"London is beautiful. A lot of beautiful people out here. And. Yeah, man, I knew my whole like, this is I call this the second half of my fight career because I got like 16 MMA fights and I was kind of using that as like a rough draft for my boxing, you know what I'm saying? But for the most part, I was out of town fighting and hometown guys a week's notice, ten days notice"
Representing the US was a source of pride for Ryan, who felt honored to be chosen to face top British fighters. Ryan is part of bare knuckle history and wears a medallion from his sponsor, which he plans to display in the Bare Knuckle Hall of Fame.

Unbelievable TKO: #ChrisGarcia dominates #RobertMadrid in epic #BKFC45 showdown
Chris Garcia secured a third-round stoppage over Robert Madrid at BKFC 45. The bantamweight bruiser improved to 2-0 as a bare-knuckle boxer with a pair of finishes in the third round to his credit.

When asked about his awareness of Madrid’s skillset heading into the bout, Garcia said, “I knew he was an MMA fighter and I didn’t really know much about him. But I just knew he had a five and two MMA record. I knew he was coming to fight, you know. So I came to fight as well.”
In giving his pointed breakdown of the contest, Garcia stated, “Round one, I was like, okay, let me get out there. You know, let me figure him out. Let me study him. I was jabbing one, two. Then when we went into the second round, I seen he was gassing out. So I was like, let me turn the pressure up a little bit. “
“Then third round, I was like, oh, he’s out of here. He’s out of here. So I kept working him and we got the job done tonight.”
Garcia’s only game plan was to win and felt he showcased that he’s a dog.
Garcia always wanted to be a professional boxer and he fell more in love with combat sports over the years since. Garcia feels blessed for where he’s at today.
The brutality of bare knuckle caught his eye, and now Garcia feels it’s way better than gloved boxing.
Due to the lack of padding on the hand, Garcia says you can't truly prepare for a bare-knuckle punch.
In terms of what's next, Garcia said he’s ready again to fight next month if he has to. Having two BKFC wins in two months is a testament to that, and Garcia clearly wants an active year in the sport.

When asked about his game plan for this fight Winemiller had this to say:
"I stuck to my game plan in first round. I had a little trouble executing. I got a little too excited. I got off base and my first round and got clipped a little bit. Other than that, I stuck to my game plan in the second and ended it. If I'd have done it in the first, it'd probably been the first."
As far as preparation for his fight with Townsel, Winemiller says he did not do anything particular.
"I didn't do anything specific to really prepare for him. I had some south paw training partners. I knew he was a good guy, man. I knew he was I knew he was going to bring it. And I just had a lot of really hard, long sparring sessions for him."
Winemiller says this was definitely the biggest fight of his career and is ready to step back into the squared circle with anyone BKFC chooses for him to fight.

#AlbertoBlas #RobertoArmas #bareknuckle #bkfc45 #bkfc #susancingari #bareknucklenews
Blas told Bare Knuckle News his game plan was to stay away initially and wait for the right hook.
"I wanted to see what my opponent was going to bring to me. As you saw I was waiting for the right hook, you know, And you can see that guy throw the right hook and nothing happened. He threw a jab that he's been training for. And after the jab, there comes the clinch and there's no way getting out of the clinch"
Blas, says he gives his opponent Roberto Armas a lot of respect for being able to withstand his punches in the clinch.
His team believes he is ready for the 135 title and are confident in his abilities.
"We are ready for the title. I don't think anyone at 135 can withstand the heat that this guy is bringing. So get ready, guys. He's coming for the title and there's no way he will not win the fight"
