#BYB18 Finale: Exclusive interview with #BKB figurehead Jim Freeman
BKB figurehead Jim Freeman caught up with #bareknucklenews as BYB 18 ended.
#BYBExtreme #BYB18 #BYBvsBKB #PoliceGazetteCup #BKB #bareknuckle #susancingari #JimFreeman #bareknuckleboxing #BYBLondon
Following the inaugural Police Gazette International Cup, Freeman recaps the historic event,
“I’m really happy. It was a great card. You know, the fights had everything like knockouts. We had wars. We had the whole lot. So yes, I'm really happy. At the end of the day, our partnership with BYB is flourishing. We’re putting good fights on for the fans and that’s what it’s about. No BS, just good fights.”
There were a lot of stand-out bouts on this historic cross-promotional card that could have gotten that fight of the night nod.
Freeman sees a Jarome Hatch-Marko Martinjak trilogy manifesting now that the series is tied up. Freeman admitted Martinjak outboxed Hatch, and he did not see the stoppage as controversial in the co-main event the way some did.
Freeman also said the Tommy Turner - Barrie Jones fight cemented Jones' legacy as an all-time great in the sport.
“He’s the best. That’s it. So simple across any organization. I’ve said this before, like you see it there, he’s coming against legit opponents. He’s just putting people to sleep, you know, he’s just incredible. He’s really a soft spoken nice guy - hates doing interviews but when he gets in the Trigon, he turns into an absolute monster.”
Team BYB Extreme won the Police Gazette International Cup this year. The idea of this being an annual event is exciting, and at the end of the day, it’s all about good fights. The idea is not so centered on having team BKB emerge victorious, but more to stimulate fans of bare-knuckle boxing.
Freeman mentioned BKB is back at it in July, and then September. He said it’s 99% looking like BKB is going to Kazakhstan in October. Also, per Freeman, there’s a November show back here, and then the promotion is going to Thailand in December.

Exclusive Interview: #DannyChristie Talks #bkfc46 and Teases Fall Comeback
Danny Christie was taking in the fistic fireworks of BKFC 46 as a spectator.
#BKFC #BKFCNewcastle #DannyChristie #bareknuckle #susancingari
#BKFC46 #AnthonyHolmes #bkfc #bareknucklenews
The reigning #BKFCUK light heavyweight champion seemed quite impressed by Rico Franco. Christie felt like that was the best way it could have gone for ‘Bon Bon’.
Christie updated his own bare-knuckle record to 3-0 with a one hundred percent finishing rate in April. He did so in a very compelling clash with Anthony Holmes that saw the exchanging of the aforementioned BKFC UK belt by way of a fourth-round KO.
A couple of months have passed since that incredible win in Leeds, and when asked how he’s been processing it since, Christie said, “Well, listen, I need something else though. They promised me a big fight, they promised me something - Lorenzo Hunt or whoever. Whoever you know, I’ll fight anybody. I’ve only got a couple of fights left, so just give me something big.”
“Doesn’t matter who. It doesn’t matter who, you know. You know what you’re getting with me. I’ll bring it every time. I’ll fight anybody, any time. So just tell me who I’m fighting, when I’m fighting them, and that’ll be me back motivated. Back in the game.”
The action in Newcastle really lit Christie’s internal flame after a number of standout performances by several UK warriors. Christie seems eager to return to the ring and wants marquee matchups as his short timeline left with combat sports encroaches onward.
This August will mark one year in the sport of bare-knuckle boxing for Christie and he hints at a return to the squared circle in October. He’s even ready to drop to middleweight, potentially, as he is hungry to resume competing in the gloveless art.

BYB 18's Annual Cup: Gregory Bloom's Unquenchable Thirst for Victory
Gregory Bloom was on hand for a truly monumental card at BYB 18.
#BYBExtreme #BYB18 #BYBvsBKB #PoliceGazetteCup #BKB #bareknuckle #susancingari #GregoryBloom #bareknuckleboxing #BYBLondon
The BYB Extreme CEO discussed the historic cross-promotional proceedings in the wake of team BYB and team BKB colliding with each other.
Bloom first thanked Jim Freeman and BKB for being excellent hosts. He was proud the BYB team took the trophy, but Bloom shouted out the BKB champs who won in both the main and co-main event bouts.
When asked what was your fight of the night, Bloom said, “For me, it was LT Nelson. ‘Smash’ Nelson always comes to fight. I thought he did what he always does, which is knock out the Brits. He was fantastic at doing it.”
He also gave his thoughts on the main event and the co-main event, Bloom stated, “I would love to see a trilogy between (Jarome) Hatch and Marko Martinjak. I think it’s deserved. They have one apiece, both knocking the other out. So I would like to see a third, maybe in the US.”
“Barrie Jones, what can you say? He’s the greatest of all time. Tommy Turner was game. He put up a good fight, but he ran into the Welsh Wrecking Machine. He did what he does best.”
Bloom understood the co-main stoppage which has been polarizing among bare-knuckle observers.
The BYB CEO wants to make the Police Gazette International Cup an annual event. Bloom wants people to know what fighting in the Mighty Trigon is all about. He wants more eyeballs on the sport and to map out a forward path. Bloom also shouted out to Scott Burt for adding the rich historical context and lineage of the sport of bare-knuckle fighting.
A few more international dates are being mapped out for BYB Extreme in 2023 but onlookers will just have to wait and see.

#BKFC46 Drama: #MickTerrill Epic Challenge to #ArnoldAdams
Mick Terrill was on hand to watch BKFC Newcastle and take in the action live as a fan.
#BKFC #BKFCNewcastle #MickTerrill #bareknuckle #susancingari #bareknucklenews
#BKFC46 #SteveBanks #ArnoldAdams
Terrill’s last fight was a convincing victory against Steve Banks last November in this very same city.
When asked about how things have been since the second-round doctor’s stoppage in the main event of BKFC Fight Night Newcastle, Terrill said, “Yeah, I had a little bit of a rest. I went on holiday. I’ve started training again twice a day, but I’m back on holiday at the moment and then as soon as I’m back, that’s it. I’m on it two, three times a day.”
Terrill said he will be returning to the squared circle soon. He wants to go as far as he can from here and work his way up to the very top of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
The former BKB heavyweight champion says he doesn’t have as much time left in the sport and wants to seek out the big fights before calling it a day.
The UK-based heavyweight is riding back-to-back wins with a pair of finishes across that stretch.
Fitness and composure are great variables for Terrill in his bare-knuckle boxing journey so far.
When asked if he wanted to call out anybody right now, Terrill stated, “Arnold (Adams) if you’re watching, I’m after you.”
Those men both have previous experience fighting each other. Terrill’s lone loss in BKFC was to Adams, and clearly redemption is on his mind with this focus on the former multi-time BKFC heavyweight champ in Adams.
Whether or not they run it back from their initial fight at BKFC 19, Terrill is clearly eyeing some sort of top-notch, ranked competition for his next foray into the squared circle.

The Opening Round Annihilation: Robbie Brown vs. Ben Hatchett #bkfc46
Robbie Brown put away Ben Hatchett in the opening round at BKFC 46.
#BKFC #BKFCNewcastle #RobbieBrown #bareknuckle #susancingari
#BKFC46 #BenHatchett
When asked how he felt right after getting his hand raised, Brown said, “Over the moon. But I just wanted a fight and it wasn’t; he didn’t come for it. So, a bit disappointed in his performance.”
As a follow-up, when questioned if he wanted an opponent who gave him more resistance in there, Brown stated, “Yeah. I wanted a five round war.”
Also when asked how long did it take to see this would be a knockout win for him, Brown quipped, “As soon as I gave him the first time, because I never hit him properly. It was like a little bit on the way down. So not low.”
Brown has competed in MMA, boxing, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, and even on the infamous King of the Streets circuit. This cumulative combat experience allowed for Brown to be relatively relaxed in his BKFC debut.
He felt the transition to this combat sport was really easy, and while he had a bit of nerves, it was nothing overwhelming and Brown barely broke a sweat in the bout.
Boxing in MMA gloves was paramount for this initial Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship camp. Brown was often hitting pads in the four-ounce gloves during the build-up to the bout.
This sport excites him and he describes it as being a proper fight. Brown started with gloved boxing, and it's ultimately his bread and butter. He wants to eventually go over to "The States" and fight for a title as well. The featherweight fighter impressed as a debutant, but obviously has loftier goals in this surging sport.
Brown feels like he needs a couple of fights to call for it, but he wants a John Dodson clash. The former UFC and soon-to-be BKFC flyweight title challenger is someone that Robbie Brown has watched for years. His desire to test himself against someone of that combat caliber obviously stoked his fire.

Lee Spencer's Domination: Knocking Out Dom Wilkinson 3 Times at #byb18
Lee Spencer knocked Dom Wilkinson out three times in a dominant display en route to a first round stoppage victory:
#bybextreme #byb #bareknuckle #susancingari #leespencer #bkb
Lee had a first-round knockout victory, and explained that he knew he would win because of his punching power and observed his opponent's body language.
"I knew it was coming. I see. From the body language of him, I knew he'd be a tough player, but I punched, you know, for the weight that I'm at. 69kg. I punch like a middleweight. And and I've always known it. And without gloves on, I knew it was going to be a good night"
Lee connected with a jab, which he said he had been working on, as it was the first punch of the fight. His game plan was to be sharp and start fast.
Lee sees his biggest strength as his left hooks, right hooks, and jabs, feeling strong all-round.
"This is my debut, so I wasn't fighting another American. I was fighting another English boy. I'm kind of like the undercard of the team, you know? But I said to Jim, I'm on the undercard for this one. I said, We'll see what happens for the next one. And he might put me in the next team.
At 41 years old, Lee hopes to become a champion and can't wait to get back in the squared circle

Unleashing the Beast: Featherweight #GaryFox Dominates In His First Win #bkfc46
Featherweight Gary Fox, (1-1) stopped Hayden Sherriff, (0-1) at :38 of the opening round.
Fox told #bareknucklenews he was ready to take on anyone and felt great after his first win in BKFC.
#bareknuckle #bkfc46 #garyfox #susancingari #garyfox #haydensherrrif
He credits his victory to taking advantage of an opening he saw when his opponent came towards him.
"Yeah. Well, he. He coming. He coming. Start firing at me. So he walked onto one. Yeah. So it was something that you just had to take advantage of. You saw it and I did it"
Gary also mentions that his previous BKFC fight was a learning experience, as he realized his true calling is in the featherweight division of bare knuckle fighting
"I feel much different. I mean, the weight I am now is around about the weight. I was on the welterweight, but I just cut some weight there."
Gary said he believes that bare knuckle fighting is made for him as he has been involved in such fights throughout his life. He feels bare knuckle fighting easier than boxing and enjoys the sensation of hitting someone without gloves.
"I have been a bare knuckle fighter all my life. I've had any amount of, you know, bare knuckle fights and not in the ring, but everybody knows we've been bare knuckle fighters. That's what I do, you know? So now I'm going to do it in front of everybody on the ring properly and not get locked up for it.

Unbelievable: #RobertSerna's Epic Comeback Win At #BYB18
Robert Serna spoke with #bareknucklenews about his BYB 18 Comeback Win.
#BYBExtreme #BYB18 #BYBvsBKB #PoliceGazetteCup #BKB #bareknuckle #susancingari #RobertSerna #bareknuckleboxing #BYBLondon #RobbieAdamson
Robert Serna secured a third-round finish over Robbie Adamson at BYB 18.
When asked how he saw the fight play out, Serna said,
“Played out the way I wanted it to play out. I came out on top. Like I said, I didn’t have much time to study this guy. Like I said, mad props to him. He took up the fight like maybe Wednesday. My other fighter fell out due to injury. **** happens in this sport. But I’m glad they still got me an opponent and a very tough one too.”
He also faced adversity when he got knocked down and in discussing how he overcame that, Serna stated,
“Like I said, I wasn’t; I was square on my feet. I got caught. That was a **** call. But I mean, they gave an eight count and gave me a little bit of time to get my composure. He got his composure, but I still came out on top.”
Serna is familiar with the UK and returned there following his initial effort at BYB 12: London.
He improved to 3-0 overall in bare-knuckle boxing here with a one hundred percent finishing rate. Serna didn’t think bare-knuckle would be the sport for him for a while. But since getting locked into a contractual agreement and stepping out there, Serna has taken to this with full fervor.
Adapting to the pain behind the knuckles and showcasing the depths of your heart are crucial to succeeding in bare-knuckle per Serna’s account. Speaking of which Serna sustained significant damage to his pinky and sustained a cut but kept his composure all throughout this Adamson bout.
It is all worth it to be interwoven into the rich history of this sport dating back to the days of John L. Sullivan. Donning one of the Police Gazette medals, Serna spoke of the pride at having this story to tell his kids one day and to be able to inspire those within his own community as a whole

Unleashing Newcastle's Pride: Lewis Keen's Sensational Victory at BKFC 46
Lewis Keen stopped Zdeněk Pernica with body punches at BKFC 46. Pernica could not recover from the avalanche of devastating shots, and went down at :32 mark of the third round
#BKFC #BKFCNewcastle #LewisKeen #bareknuckle #susancingari #bareknucklenews
#BKFC46 #ZdeněkPernica
Keen loved the hometown crowd support for this one and the Newcastle faithful drove him to put on a triumphant performance.
The 155-pounder out of the United Kingdom is now 2-0 in BKFC. In the training camp for this fight Keen focused on fitness and working around a few injuries. The sophomore BKFC effort allowed for more refinement of the boxing technique. Keen felt like he brought a more complete package to the ring for his second bare-knuckle contest.
Lewis Keen had an opponent switch in the lead-up to this one. Keen is fluid with his approach though and is never married to any particular strategy. He is ready to fight anyone and to fight anywhere.
When asked how he saw the fight going and the moment he saw the fight ending opportunity, Keen said,
“We were working the headshots and then when his hands came up, work the body. If I’m honest, I wanted round one. I predicted it. I wanted it. Round one, I wanted it tough and done. But again, last time you's got a technical boxing for two rounds.”
“You seen what I was about? I could technically box. Now you’ve seen I can brawl. I can take the shots from the best of them, easy.”
The preparation for this was with fellow fighter Robert Barry before their respective bouts on this July 1st card. Each emerged victorious and the high quality of work each got from those training sessions seemed evident in the results of the fights both had.
The surging lightweight has never been put down or rocked and now has consecutive third-round finishes inside the BKFC ring to his credit.
