Ukrainian partisans organise sabotage on railway, carrying military supplies near Moscow
A participant of the Atesh military partisan movement carried out a sabotage on the railway near Moscow. He organised an explosion to prevent the Russians from carrying out military supplies to the front.
This is reported in the Telegram-channel of the movement. They published there the footage and indicated the place of the sabotage.
It is noted that the saboteur successfully destroyed the relay cabinet near the Golovkovo railway station. It is located in Solnechnogorsk district of Moscow region of Russia.
This action hindered the movement of trains on the railway line around Moscow, which is used by the aggressor country for military purposes.
"Our goal is to stop the Putin regime's military supplies to the front line. It is possible to accomplish this! In order to do this, we need the help of people who are on the territory of the Russian Federation," Atesh pointed out, calling for people to join the movement.

Interest in desertion is clearly rising in Russian Army
The Russian anti-war “Go Through the Forest” project has declared February 29th the Day of the Deserter, to change the image of those who flee from the ranks of the Russian army in Ukraine from traitors and weaklings as the Kremlin wants people to believe and to show that leaving the ranks is “an action of bravery and lover for one’s country.” Paul Goble, specialist on ethnic and religious questions in Eurasia said this.
He recalls that Grigory Sverdlin, who organized a homeless shelter in Russia before fleeing the country after the start of the war, is the founder of the “Go Through the Forest” project. He says his group has been able to help 520 deserters, of whom approximately 70 percent have fled abroad while the remainder are mostly in hiding inside Russia.
Paul Goble says that, since the start of the war, his group has received inquiries from more than 24,000 soldiers, of which 2086 involves issues of desertion and the illegal crossing of the Russian state border. The highest number of such desertion questions – 284 — came in January 2024. A year earlier, his group received only 28.
Perhaps significantly, approximately half of these potential deserts are men who signed on as professional soldiers and have either been horrified by what is going on at the front or are outraged that they have not been given the leave that they were promised and that Russian law requires.
The activists also provide statistics on the types of crimes those the authorities catch, with charges short of desertion more common because they are easy to prosecute and get convictions. The FSB and the military command, they add, now try to keep those who try to desert in their units because they need the men and because where punishment is informal and often brutal.
Those interested in desertion face far greater obstacles now than they did a year earlier, the activists say; and that fact may depress official statistics somewhat. But interest in desertion is clearly rising as Russia’s war in Ukraine enters its third year.

Destroying Sergey Kotov ship is a rehearsal for a further strike on Crimean Bridge
The destruction of the Russian Sergey Kotov patrol ship is a rehearsal of the Defence Forces on the possibility of putting the Crimean bridge out of action, former speaker of the Ukrainian Army General Staff Colonel Vladyslav Seleznev said in a commentary to LIGA media outlet.
According to him, Sergey Kotov was on combat duty and covered the Crimean bridge from attacks by Ukrainian naval drones.
"I think it was a rehearsal of the Ukrainian Defence Forces on the possibility of putting out of action a key logistical artery that provides everything the occupation troops in Crimea need," the military officer said.
To ensure that a strike on the Crimean bridge would be "as painful as possible" for the Russian Federation, it should be comprehensive, Seleznev said.
He explained that such a strike requires German Taurus long-range missiles to destroy the structures that support the bridge.
In addition to them, US long-range ATACAMS missiles are needed to destroy the canvas of the bridge, as well as kamikaze drones, which will help destroy the foundation of the structure, the former General Staff speaker summarised.
Recently, leaked audio obtained by Russian spies and later broadcast by the Russian state-controlled news network RT shows that top German officials were discussing plans to possibly send Ukraine long-range missiles that can take out the key Crimean bridge.
Senior German officials confirmed the authenticity of the audio to The Wall Street Journal.
A spokesperson for the German Ministry of Defense told Business Insider in an email that "a conversation in the air force sector" had been intercepted but could not comment "about the content of the communications that were apparently intercepted."
The spokesperson added that the counterintelligence service is conducting an investigation into the leak and that they could not say if any changes were made to the recording or transcript that is being shared on social media.
The missiles have been one of Ukraine's key asks to Germany. The Taurus has a long range of about 500 km.

Ukraine has some pleasant “surprises” in store for Putin on the battlefield – US State Department
Ukraine has a plan that they can execute to achieve victories on the battlefield, and "surprises" are still waiting for the Russians, U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told.
The comments come after Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said in January that "Putin is going to get some nice surprises on the battlefield.”
Miller cited Ukraine’s recent sinking of Russian Black Sea Fleet ships as an example of these “surprises”
"We believe that Ukraine has a plan that they can execute to achieve victories on the battlefield,” he said.
“We’ve seen them making – having victories on the battlefield, most recently in the Black Sea, where they sunk another Russian ship. So, we do believe that they have some surprises in store. We look forward to seeing the results."
Russia lost another major ship in the Black Sea after the $65 million USD Sergei Kotov patrol ship was hit and sunk by Ukrainian Magura V5 drones.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that there are more "surprises" coming for Russia's military assets in the Black Sea. Ukrainian leader said that among Kyiv's goals for 2024 was to continue our successful story on the Black Sea. "And we will do it," Zelensky said. "I will not go deeply into details, but they will get some surprises. That's very important."
Ukraine ramped up its attacks on Russia's infrastructure stationed in the Crimean Peninsula in recent months, which served as a launching pad for Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. Kyiv has particularly homed in on Russian President Vladimir Putin's Black Sea Fleet, claiming that its forces have "disabled" about a third of the Kremlin's naval warships since the start of the battle

Czech President Petr Pavel: the army could be sent to Ukraine
Czech President Petr Pavel did not rule out the possibility of sending foreign troops to Ukraine.
He said that European leaders should not limit themselves in terms of assistance to Kyiv.
Pavel urged Ukraine’s partners to extend the forms of aid for Ukraine, including the presence of foreign troops in Ukraine.
He noted that it was not about sending combat units but about different forms of aid and "non-combat participation".
"I endorse searching for new ways to help, including continuing the discussion about a possible military presence in Ukraine. Let’s not impose limits on ourselves if we do not have to," Pavel said, adding that Europe must play a bigger role in deterring Russia.
Pavel added that there was no difference whether Ukrainian soldiers would undergo training with Western instructors abroad or directly in Ukraine.
"Ukraine remains a sovereign state, even though it was attacked," he said, noting that a possible training mission is not a violation of any international rules.
"We decide on our own which form of aid to choose," he added.
The Kremlin has warned that if NATO sends combat troops, a direct conflict between the alliance and Russia would be inevitable.
Last month, Pavel announced at a security conference in Munich that the Czechs had identified 800,000 pieces of artillery ammunition in various countries and were seeking funding for their acquisition to ship to Ukraine.
About 15 countries, including Britain, Belgium Denmark, Canada, Sweden and the Netherlands, have voiced their support for the plan, the Czech government said.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, as well as leaders of Germany, the U.K., Sweden, Poland, and other European NATO member states, ruled out sending Western troops to Ukraine.
Later, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas noted that European leaders should not exclude this possibility, saying this could be "a signal to Russia."
Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair said that his country was ready to send a limited number of military personnel to Ukraine, but only to train Ukrainian soldiers and not for participation in hostilities.
During a two-hour State of the Nation address, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened "tragic consequences" if NATO troops were sent to Ukraine, claiming the West's support for Kyiv "risks a conflict using nuclear weapons."

Ukraine will attack the Russian army and infrastructure with 2 million drones
Ukraine is set to produce two million drones this year, Hanna Hvozdyar, Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, said this.
At the same time, she acknowledged that the current needs of Ukrainian troops far surpass the country's financial capabilities, even with the assistance of partners.
"Even with our partners, it would be difficult for us. However, we are working in this direction," Hvozdyar stated.
"We are ramping up drone production," she added.
Hvozdyar addressed doubts raised among Ukrainians by President Zelensky's statement about producing a million drones, clarifying that "in terms of production, we are far beyond a million."
"I am confident that this year we will reach the mark of 2 million," Hvozdyar emphasized.
Highlighting the capability of Ukrainian drone manufacturers, the deputy minister mentioned they can already produce up to 150,000 units monthly.
The drone sector in Ukraine involves around 200 domestic companies, with nearly 60 of them already included in state orders.
In an interview with The Independent, Oleksandr Kamyshin, the Minister of Strategic Industries, emphasized Ukraine's urgent need for ammunition due to the ongoing war with Russia. He noted that Ukraine requires an amount of ammunition that "no single country can deliver," including the United States.
Kamyshin also highlighted that the capabilities of Ukraine's defense industry far exceed the funding currently available for its support.
Ukraine is positioning itself as a global pioneer in unmanned technologies, according to Kamyshin, with UAVs becoming a crucial weapon on modern battlefields.
He expressed confidence that this year, Ukraine will produce over a million FPV drones and thousands capable of flying more than 1,000 km, reaching oil refineries in Russia.
In a meeting with Ukrainian and international journalists at the end of 2023, President Zelensky stated: "We will produce one million drones next year. We will make a million. We will do everything to make it happen."

US F-35s over Ukraine - Pentagon made a statement
The US has denied flying F-35s over Ukraine after Singapore’s Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen claimed that the advanced fighter jets were being used to monitor Russian troops in the region.
Eng Hen made the remarks last Wednesday while speaking in the national parliament about the importance of long-term planning in the defense industry. He in particular mentioned that Singapore was closely evaluating the US-made F-35, especially when it comes to its use in real-world conditions.
He noted that the US has used the F-35 not only to target Islamic State terrorists in the Middle East but also “to locate and identify surface-to-air missile sites of Russian units in Ukraine,” adding that this reconnaissance was later shared with NATO members. He did not say whether an F-35 ever entered Ukrainian air space or if flights were carried out over NATO territory.
A spokesperson for the Pentagon declined to comment on the minister’s remarks but stressed that “I can confirm that the US does not fly F-35s in Ukraine.”
Last March, the website C4ISRNET reported, citing Colonel Craig Andrle, the commander of 388th Fighter Wing, that the US used F-35 to gather reconnaissance on “threats” in Ukraine and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. The fighters “were able to locate and identify surface-to-air missile sites and pass that information to the rest of the coalition,” the article said.
However, while Andrle stressed that F-35 could be a formidable war asset without firing a single shot due to its intelligence-gathering capabilities, it sometimes struggled to snoop on Russian positions. The colonel recalled that the F-35 had failed to identify a Russian S-300 missile system because it was potentially “operating in a war reserve mode that we haven’t seen before.”
Since the Ukraine conflict began in February 2022, NATO has increased its air presence in Eastern Europe, deploying additional fighters and surveillance aircraft.
