SRT series #2 - Canopy anchors
Dan runs through various options for anchoring your stationary rope climbing system in the canopy and the pros and cons to each system.
SRT - Stationary rope techniques / Single rope technique:
Within the Arboricultural industry the term SRT describes a climbing system when the climbing rope anchored in the canopy or at the base and the climber is ascending & descending on a stationary/fixed rope, meaning the climbing rope is not moving when ascending/descending.

Tying the Water knot with webbing
The water knot is a good strong knot used for tying webbing tape/strapping together. This is useful if you need to make a loop from a section webbing that can be used as a sling for light rigging etc..

Throwing rope over a low branch | Arborist tree climbing techniques
This is a technique that Arborists use for throwing your climbing rope over a low branch up to about 30ft, when it isn't possible to reach the lowest branches from the ground.

Prusik with tending pulley | Arborist climbing techniques
The pulley helps tend the hitch so there is never slack in the system while ascending.
Prevents the climber holding their weight because they don't need to advance the hitch.
This system can be used on a Prusik, Blake's hitch and Tautline hitch.

Marlin Spike / Slipknot | Knot tying for Arborists
An clear and easy follow demonstration on tying the Marlin spike / slipknot. Most commonly used in Arboriculture for tying items on for the climber e.g. chainsaw.
Is a directional knot so be sure to practice and understand how it cinches onto an object.

Prusik hitch | Knot tying for Arborists
This is a simple and easy to follow demonstration on how to tie a Prusik friction hitch. This hitch is very predictable and can be used in the main tree climbing configuration or on the climbers lanyard. It is also a great knot for using in mechanical advantage systems.

Slippery sheet bend | Knot tying for Arborists
The slippery sheet bend is a great option for tying on a rope for a climber as it can be quickly and easily untied.
Slippery Clove hitch | Knot tying for Arborists
The Slippery Clove hitch is a really useful knot for tying a throwline to a throw ball, because it makes the untying of it very quick and easy, rather than having to pick away at the thin line trying to untie it.
Arborist tips and tricks | Adding a weight to your base anchor
A little trick of adding weight onto the end of your basal anchor makes whipping it around the base of a tree much easier.
Double block rigging | Tree rigging systems
The double block rigging technique is a great technique for rigging large/heavy pieces as it helps to spread the force of the piece(s) being rigged. It uses more rope in the system to help absorb energy, using more components to help spread the load and reduce the shock load on the stem its self.

Controlled speedline / slideline | Arborist rigging systems
In this video we explain from start to finish how to put together and execute a well organized, controlled slide line setup. The slide line system doesn't come in to use that often but in the right situation it can save a lot of leg work and man power. The slide line system can also be adapted to create a horizontal slide line for specific situations, with the use of a few extra components.
