Welcome to a brand new episode of Musicians Addition! In today's video, we're diving into the world of percussion as we explore number 71 & 77 from Essential Elements. This time, we're introducing two intriguing instruments: maracas and claves. Join us as we uncover the unique sounds these instruments can create.
We kick things off with a detailed look at the club, also known as claves. Claves produce a distinctive high-pitched sound that's perfect for adding character to your music. Discover the correct technique for holding and playing these sticks, and learn how to create that iconic club sound. Remember, it's all about finding the right balance and resonance for a fantastic auditory experience.
Moving on to maracas, we delve into the rhythm and technique required to master these shakers. Imagine holding maracas like snare drum sticks – that's the key to getting the rhythm just right. Learn how to control the movement of the beads inside the maracas to produce precise, controlled sounds. We'll guide you through playing both eighth and quarter notes, and show you how to add accents for that extra flair.
Throughout the video, we break down each instrument's technique, from forming a resonating chamber to striking with precision. You'll gain valuable insights into playing maracas and claves effectively, ensuring that you're well-equipped to take on these exciting percussion challenges.
So grab your maracas and claves, and let's embark on a rhythmic journey filled with fun and learning. Whether you're a seasoned percussionist or new to the world of instruments, this episode has something for everyone. Join us as we explore the unique sounds and techniques of maracas and claves in Essential Elements number 71 & 77.

Sight Reading Exercises For Beginners - Piano
Sight reading can be pretty challenging to most. Our teacher, Evan shares some sight reading exercises for beginners on piano. Instead of reading the notes individually for what they are (A, B, C...), you look at the interval, or gap between the notes!
In this lesson, we're going to look at sight reading with single notes and with the intervals of unisons, 2nds, or 3rds.

Notes On the Guitar B String
Now as fun as it is playing chords and jamming out, there's going to be a great advantage of knowing individual notes too. Guitar solos and riffs require knowing individual notes.
Good news is there are different ways of reading these notes, so you can read it as sheets, tabs, or even as a chord box.
Bad news is, playing this by yourself when learning can be a little boring. But trust me, knowing what your doing when it comes to soloing won't be boring.
So grab your guitar and lets learn the notes on the B String!

Yamaha Curved Flute Headjoint for YFL-222 :
