Her yearning to escape this stifling environment reflects the universal desire for personal freedom and self-expression. The stepmother and stepsisters in Cinderella's story represent the systemic discrimination and prejudice faced by women and LGBTQ+ individuals in many societies. The stepmother's attempts to control Cinderella's life echo the pervasive gender norms that seek to limit women's choices and autonomy. The stepsisters' mockery of Cinderella highlights the bullying and ostracization experienced by many LGBTQ+ individuals.
