This deal, reportedly brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, comes after Prigozhin publicly criticized Russia's military leadership for their handling of the war in Ukraine. His Wagner troops had taken control of a key military facility in Rostov-on-Don and were advancing towards Moscow. However, as part of the agreement, Prigozhin and his troops face no legal action for their actions, and the troops are to sign contracts with Russia's Ministry of Defense. This upheaval is the result of Prigozhin's feud with Russia's military leadership, accusing them of inadequately supporting his forces and mismanaging the conflict in Ukraine.
