Arctic Cat 858 Catalyst Demo Day at ERX - February 17, 2024
I finally got a turn on the 858 Catalysts and they didn't disappoint! With absolutely zero snow for a trail ride, we were very lucky to have this event at the ERX facility in Elk River, MN. Even though the track was groomed prior to me getting on it, it was still plenty rough, and that made pushing the 858 much more difficult. It was still great to see it run, and I loved it.
Considering how well the 600 performs, I may not get the 858 for myself, but the demo also showcased other features on the 2025 Arctic Cats that are really attractive - one is the crystal clear G8 display, which is incredible to see on the new Cats. I also was impressed with the ATAC shocks.
Kind of luck of the draw, I didn't get to ride the RXC nor the Riots that were there. I also missed seeing the new Sno Pro models equipped with AC5S shocks, even though they were there. I really, really, really liked the ability of the 129" track to take those tight corners, and with the kind of riding I typically do, I think my next Catalyst is going to be one of those.
Thanks to Arctic Cat for offering public demos again this year, and I hope many of you were able to ride Catalysts this year, especially if you didn't get a chance last year.

Details Here !!! 2025 Arctic Cat Mountain Cats
On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Arctic Cat took the snowmobile industry by surprise when they revealed the 2025 model year lineup. More details have come out since then, and I wanted to compile what I know so far and share it with everyone.
The bases are loaded for 2025: On first is the new 858 powerhouse, on second is the new G8 display developed by Garmin and on third base is the new AC5S shock package along with the return of the Fox Zero QS3. Driving them home will be the Catalyst platform itself, making it a Grand Slam.
I don't think that's overstating it, Arctic Cat has positioned themselves with a winning hand and it was fun to put all of this information together for you. I hope you find it helpful.
I'm planning more videos to cover the rest of the 2025 sleds and the new shock package. Stay tuned!
Here’s the video link I promised:

Disclaimer: I'm creating this series of videos using information that's publicly available in addition to my experiences during the 2024 model year photo shoot, my attendance at Hay Days and beyond. Arctic Cat isn't helping me, and I have received no encouragement, compensation or deferential treatment from them to continue creating these videos. I'm doing this to help prospective buyers, because I think it's important.

Catalyst Accessories by Rox Speed FX!
While I wait for snow, there's still time for me to accessorize my Catalyst outside. In this video, I'm adding hand guards, a handlebar pad and a fuse block cover from Rox Speed FX.
Not only does Rox make the sled look fantastic, but their hand guards are among the most protective in the business - these aren't just for looks!
On my Riot, the taller windshield prevented me from using hand guards, and my hands have gotten quite cold on several occasions. The handlebar and windshield position of the Catalyst allows me to use both the taller windshield and hand guards.
They look awesome! Rox Speed FX makes excellent products in North America and thanks to Ryan for helping me pick out the hand guards and make sure they shipped out quickly!

Arctic Cat's 2024 Display is a Winner, Here's Why!
It's simple and easy to use. That's it, that's the reason. In this video, I'll show you how easy it is to get the information you want.
Are there better displays from the competition? You bet. Are there worse? Most certainly. But, this gauge is a step in the right direction and I like it.
I'm looking forward to the G8 display by Garmin and think that was absolutely the way to go for Arctic Cat. Until then, this one will do nicely.

509 Delta V Commander Voice Commands
In this video, we'll cover the main voice commands that you can use to control the integrated Cardo communicator in your 509 Delta V helmet. I tried to keep it short and simple, so that it's useful when you first get your helmet and are learning more about it.

509 Delta V Commander Helmet Sizing
Getting the right size helmet isn't rocket science, unless it's the Delta V Commander! This helmet is special, because of the inflatable ear seals. I don't think there's another helmet like it in the snowmobile world.
Unfortunately, 509's own web site is of little use in trying to find the right size - their sizing charts are way out of sync with this helmet. I don't understand it, because it seems like such a simple thing to do - make the Delta V Command match up with the sizes on the web site.
Anyway, I hope this video helps people figure out the size they need. I also highly recommend seeing the helmet in person and asking a dealer to help you get the right size.

509 Delta V Commander - How to Get Started
This video is for those who own a Delta V Commander and want to get started using all of its new features. Be forewarned, I'm going to get a little geeky on this one. If you don't own the helmet, your eyes might glaze over pretty fast.
If you can watch the full video, I'm pretty sure I can help you get started. I'm planning a couple more videos like this, because the helmet is fairly complex and I think I can help people enjoy their investment a little more.

Shopping for a new snowmobile helmet
I've been shopping for a new snowmobile helmet, but the process is agonizing - there are too many choices, too many fancy features, terminology to learn and I have no idea what fits my head or whether I will like it. A lot of people are probably in the same situation, and that's who this video is for.
I've invested probably close to 30 hours putting together this information. Hang with me in the video, because I'll provide a list of helmets I've researched, what I learned about them and the retail price of each.

Buying a used snowmobile? WATCH THIS
In this video, I'm using a new acquisition as an example of what to look for and beware of. Most used snowmobiles are just a bit over valued, but there are also a few which are nightmares for unsuspecting buyers.
By knowing what to look for, you can be better prepared to negotiate. I'll also explain how to avoid getting ripped off when a sled has major problems and should be avoided.
I encourage you to use this as one of many sources. There are a lot of good videos on the subject, and I hope this video adds to your information arsenal.

CKX Mission helmet
At Hay Days 2023, I stopped by the CKX booth to look over the Mission helmet and caught most of the sales presentation for a couple of other riders. Very interesting helmet, but very expensive. I'll need to extract a large sum from my piggy bank if I want one of these.

Introducing: The 2024 Polaris Xpedition
I ran our 2019 General into the local Polaris dealer for its annual service and they had a new machine on the sales floor that looked like a General, but was actually an entirely new model from Polaris. So, when I picked the General up later, I asked the sales rep to walk me over to it, so that I could see what it's all about.
This machine isn't for everybody, but it is pretty cool and I wanted to share with you what I learned.
Thanks to Justin at Ray's Sport & Cycle in Grand Rapids, MN for spending time with me. This wasn't a planned, scripted or sponsored trip - I just had my phone and a lot of questions.

Easy Project - Move the Battery on a Polaris Sportsman
This video is dedicated to those who want to do more work on their ATV but don't know where to start. Polaris makes a great machine (in my opinion), but some Sportsman models have the battery in a really.... inconvenient, to put it politely... location. In this video, I'll show you how to move it.
