We built a machine to make us endless off-grid fuel on the homestead. Also known as a bio-digester, "Big Murph" turns organic homestead waste into methane (natural gas). Consider this cycle: grass consumes CO2, the cow eats grass and turns it into cow pies, the digester turns cow pies into methane, we burn the methane to power our homestead and it turns back into CO2....which feeds the grass! We hunted the BIGGEST Animal in North America! I've been putting in for a Bison tag in BC's LEH draw for over 20 years. This year, I finally got it! We've been using these 3 cheap off grid water systems for years on our homestead: Ram pump, rain water with first flush diverter, and simple pond catchment. Water wells are very expensive, and they aren't a guarantee of quantity or quality of water either. These methods are easy, cheap and can work in most climates. We found the most unlikely gold nugget. We made it to Arizona and in a desperate attempt to find gold.... did what @Askjeffwilliams does. We made a mini rocket stove from clay we made out of the dirt. We actually made a pizza oven and simple rocket stove from raw clay soil and also refine the soil and make a proper clay. Really, what can't you do once you've got clay and fire? Clay makes an oven, an oven fires clay, the clay makes a rocket stove, and on and on it goes.......
