Uninvited Opossum
On April Fools day, this uninvited visitor stopped by to look for bugs in the leaves. The first minute of the video is 3x speed. I turned the light on and off hoping that would encourage the Opossum to leave. The light did not seem to bother the opossum.
Virginia Opossums are very common in our area, and they are omnivorous scavengers. This means they will eat just about anything they can find, including chicks and eggs. Opossums are also the only marsupial native to North America.

Uninvited Striped Visitor
We had a striped skunk stop by unexpectedly. This is a great reminder why good fences are important.
Striped skunks are omnivores, and they are known to kill chickens.
The hens are safely locked inside sleeping and have no idea what was lurking nearby.
