I don't know what to do when the world defies my expectations, but I know giving up is the wrong thing. Let's talk about why...

The more I think about this, the more interested I am in how it is a lens on a bunch of broader phenomenon. Right now, there are a bunch of pieces being published about how particular groups are upset or worried about sticking with daylight time all year round rather than standard time. But, if we were going to be sticking with standard time all year round, there would also be a bunch of articles about why that's bad.

It's a mess out there and the Crash Course team is constantly thinking about it. I'm so happy that we're going to keep trying to fix this thing...lowering barriers wherever we can. It's a real privilege to get to work on these things and we take it super seriously. Thank you so much to everyone who's ever helped out Crash Course through the Coin or Patreon or watching and sharing.

I haven't run across a video that was so hard to fit into four minutes in a long time. There is a lot I want to say about this, and also a lot that I'm not 100% clear on. I don't know to what extent this is an artifact of the structure of people communicating and to what extent it is an artifact of the way the social internet is built.

In which John tells the story of how he escaped the despair of feeling like nothing could ever be done about anything, and how in learning more, he became more optimistic about the future.
