Lakshmi Mantra (Hindu Goddess of Prosperity)
Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity. Lakshmi is usually shown seated or standing on a lotus. The lotus symbolizes creation, beauty, harmony, diversity, stability, and support. The name Lakshmi is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning goal, aim or sign. She is the wife of Vishnu and also appears as a deity in Jainism and Buddhism.

Musical Response to Cultural Appropriation Accusation: May I Sing of Thee?
After leading an evening of sacred music a few years back, I was accused of cultural appropriation by one of the attendees. She believed that I needed permission from a spiritual authority (monk, guru) to sing in various world traditions. While pondering the situation in the subsequent months, I was inspired by the idea that I could ask God directly if I could sing His praises. This was the origin of the song just completed: "May I Sing of Thee?" 🙏

Mantra for Emotional Healing
Lyrics: Shante Prashante Sarva Bhaya Upasha'mani Svaha
There is a set of mantras in the Vedic traditional for the elimination of unwanted negative emotions. This particular mantra is for the alleviation of fear (bhaya).
A word by word translation would be follows:
Shante-peace
Prashante-supreme peace
Sarva-whole, all, entirety
Bhaya-fear, horror, danger, distress
Upasha-to calm, mitigate or extinguish
Mani-a jewel
Svaha-a confirmation or affirmation
The purpose of using the mantra is to release the energy back to a universal source. Then the energy is reclaimed in a purified form (a jewel).
The formula of this mantra can be used for other types of emotional healing by substituting a different word for bhaya (fear). A list of twenty different emotional states that can be addressed with variations of this mantra can be found at https://kathleenkarlsen.com/mantra-for-emotional-healing
