Meanwhile Syuen does her best to avoid responsibility and sweep her problems under someone else's rug. The Outer Rim is in turmoil, caught between defending themselves and being the scapegoats of the entire situation. Counters Meets up with Moran and work with the residents to find the main hideout of Heavenly Ascension. Upon diving into such a den, we end up confronting a most concerning group of NIKKEs and the commander, along with Rapi end up grabbed by a venomous hand. Having met up with the COUNTERS squad and the commander, we get to hear Poli remind Miranda of their jobs, all the while squeaking out adorable puppy yips amidst her speech. Their dedication to maintaining order and security drives them to guide everyone to Enikks core at the commander's request. As we venture deeper into the destroyed city, The commander is able to achieve a stable communications channel with Enikk. She begins explaining the situation with how the raptures began their invasion by replaying scenes of shady dealings between the Underworld Queens and the bunnies of Coin Rush. How did the Raptures invade the ARK? What will the people do to survive? What do these nefarious interactions have to do with Raptures? Who the hell is E.H.? What is their ultimate goal? Following the bread crumbs to our next destination, our girls decide to pick up a showy stalker with a pension for intel. Not to be outdone, Anis and Neon decide to implement code words for our objective. Our objective, however, gets sidelined when we are introduced to a new pack of Pilgrims and a commander of their own. Our new acquaintances decide to also sideline us, by ejecting us out a window. After somehow missing the ground, we are greeted by yet another Pilgrim. One with a flavor for flash. In the end, we are bested, tested and rested, because that rhymed. We also gain access to the next big story arc and emotional battlefield. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well, this chapter certainly flew faster than the previous bunch, despite having quite the roster of new faces to deal with. Coming at a little bit over 1 and a quarter hours, I was fearing I would have to split this one in half. Gameplay + Fast paced combat and weapons management. + A variety of enemies that are sure to keep you on your toes. + The numbers, Mason, what do they mean? - More menus than you can shake a stick at. Story/plot + The story told in the campaign is unapologetically dystopian. + Ample "plot" and "backstory" for most ladies. + There are apparently different endings to be discovered. - Story is told through what feels like MS powerpoint Mechanics + LOTS of guns with considerably different styles and effects. + Mechs all feel unique and operate differently from each other. + Massive collection of upgradeable gear and accessories. - You are always broke and are unlikely to actually get what you need. Should you buy it? + If you like Roguelites, sure. + If you like attractive ladies in bodysuits, definitely. + If you like Mecha, solid yes. - If you want a deep, enriching story, not really. The end of the demo is on day 33 of the 100 day campaign and its a tough little boss fight for those who do not have a good build going. I would highly suggest high piercing weapons over high bullet counts. Essentially airstrikes and targeted bombardments that you can call in at specified locations using your tactical menu, by pressing the TAB key. We are given the most basic of a missile strike, but if you continue to treat the girls nicely, they might start like you enough to give some of their own devices for use. This week finally opens up the parts factory inside the Infrastructure Dept., allowing us to commit manpower to crafting random gear for out mechs. Upgrades will increase the variety and tier of gear crafted. After we get our factory, we are also introduced to the Synthesis Workshop. The Craft menu is now available, but honestly, you probably will not get much use out of it for now. You are given a plethora of parts, but not enough for anything meaningful. Best to hold on to it for later. The good thing is, everything can be crafted, so if it does not show up in the shop, this will be a guaranteed way to get what you are looking for. The next big thing to deal with are Perimeter Missions. These are the away missions I had mentioned in a previous video description. These make one of your girls unavailable for the main story to go off and attack an enemy position. These range from bunker busting to supply line destruction. You must destroy the objective and return to the start for evac. The convenient thing is that you can use the TAB menu and call in strikes. Do not argue and take what help you can, as these missions can overwhelm you if you are ill-prepared. Have you wondered why it is always telling you things are wet? Not the girls, you gutter mind. The weather is everchanging and some days are heavy downpours. Some are sweltering high heat and some are just meh. Why am I explaining the obvious? Because the Intelligence division finally let us check the forecast. Why is this important? Because the weather affects cooldown times of Strategic weapons and the effectiveness of certain weapons. Keep that in mind as such things can mean the difference between defeat and victory in a clutch fight. As we near the end of the week, we finally get access to the Dismantling Facility. At last, we can start putting that crafting system to use. From now on, every enemy you destroy can be scrapped for materials. Be careful though, as this requires another slowly growing resource and each enemy scrapped has a different cost associated with it. Additionally, the enemies are discarded each day, so it is a one time deal. Luckily, as long as you know what you need, you can remove unneeded materials from the process, increasing the amount and likelihood of getting your preferred items. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This little series is my first run through the demo, roughly based on one week of in-game days per video. Logistics missions are either a non-combat related freebie, or a convoy defense fight with you guarding moving vehicles. Away missions require you to send one mech to run a solo attack on an enemy position. We also get access to the dorm function, showcased across the bottom of the screen. Now you can watch your favorite girl(s) laze around, like some degenerate voy- I mean expert interior decorator, as better furniture decreases the stress of the girls. But watch out! This is no free show, as it comes with a massive increase to your daily taxes. Thankfully, we also get permissions to use the Workshop! Upgrade time! Hopefully you have been holding on to your gear! Combine the same item to upgrade it to the next tier. As a bonus note, As long as it is not an identical item of the same tier you can add it on to your mech. Stack upgrades for even bigger stats. As the week goes on, the Lounge becomes accessible, giving a couple of action points to relax and flir- I mean develop trust with the girls. Make sure to start giving gifts to the girls if you have not yet. This will build their trust and affection with you, granting special buffs and even new weapons. We are blessed with our third team member, Choices are randomized between the remaining girls. I went with the trendy girl with big, uh... Guns! Yeah, uh, her mech has the largest health pool and upgrade slots. Be sure to load her up with the largest, hardest, heaviest gear you have. Quite literally a Hindenburg of a rapture, it floats through the air with the elegance of a balloon tied to a frog. What reason do we have for beaching this Dirigible of flying metal? Well, the resources from its carcass are bountiful beyond measure, as explained by out former legendary commander, "big J" Johan. But, our secret objective lies the prospects of harnessing its core to produce a reliable source of our special weapon. However, in order to even reach out to this sky boat, we first have to repair a series of AA cannons. These old guns were designed for precisely this and were built during a previous campaign to reclaim the surface. It does not take much to know that it failed.
