Getting Ready to Store Palms for the Winter & New Evergreen Planters
Getting the palm trees and bird of paradise sent off to the Walter Knoll Greenhouse for winter storage! Can't believe it's time to move the houseplants inside for winter already, luckily this has become second nature and the process of moving plants indoors is pretty simple these days. Once the palms and bird of paradise left, I tossed together a couple of large evergreen planters for some fall through spring 2023 color and interest.

Guarachea Black Comet and Self-Watering | Coco Coir to Leca | Repotting The EASY Way | Ninja Orchids
#cococoir #guarecheablackcomet #repotting
Coco Coir and orchid roots are a match made in heaven, as this pot full of great orchids roots prove! I am changing the set up of this orchid from coco coir to leca and self watering, because my collection is based on inorganic growing. Coco Coir did a great job at keeping the orchid happy, along with the correct pH levels, allowing the orchid to have access to all the nutrients in the fertilizer solution, while it was still being cultivated in the nursery pot that had coco coir as the media. #orchids #orchidcare #repottingorchids #transition #leca #selfwatering #new #subscribe

Fig Tree Pruning: A Complete Guide for Container, Large, Young, and Old Trees
Roper pruning is what separates a good fig grower from the exceptional. This applies to any fruit tree. The more we can maximize photosynthesis, the better fruit quality we'll have. In this video, I hope to improve your fig tree pruning skills. We're going to look at a number of situations because everyone's tree is different. We all also have different goals. What do we want is the question everyone should ask themselves before pruning anything. Are your cuts with intention? Do we want a better form? More fruits? A healthier tree? These are all questions you should ask yourself and dramatically change your approach and my advice.

A Grow Room Upgrade and the Unboxing of a Special New Plant
Have been so excited for this video! A few weeks ago I started ordering items to upgrade the grow room with and a lot of special plants which are starting to show up in the mail. In this video I put together a new shelf for the aquaponics pond and then pittered around waiting for the new plant to arrive. I don't lean into the rare plant craze very often but I am very excited about this so-called rare plant that came in from Etsy. The variegation on this clearance monstera albo is stunning and I can't wait for more leaves to pop out. Oh and I got the new Kay Parris Magnolias from Starkbros planted but couldn't film it without the tripod which I have now fixed. I am happy with them, they'll grow and be beautiful trees in no time.

Manual aquaculture
I think we're beginning to appreciate that automation isn't always a good thing, especially when such a system doesn't get finished! Aranya explains the benefits of a hands-on approach to the basic principles of aquaponics - using the fish waste in your pond to feed your garden / grow food.

Hydroponics farm at Big red strawberry Farm, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
Location: Hydroponics farm at Big Red Strawberry farm, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
Hydroponics is a way to grow crops directly in nutrient-rich water instead soil.
For root support, we can use coconut fiber, rock wool, etc instead soil.
Hydroponic system has many advantages.
Hydroponic requires 98% less water than traditional soil-based systems.
Water recycling system makes more efficient use of water. Water evaporate less than soil because of closed systems.
Nutrients like magnesium, phosphorus, calcium can mix with water to grow healthy plants.
No pest control products are needed.
The ability to grow indoors allows farmers to control temperatures and lighting schedules to improve plant production.
Systems can be designed to make use of vertical space and increase planting density. Production increases 3 to 10 times in the same amount of space
Hydroponics also allow us to create farms in locations where soil conditions are too poor to support farming, or space is limited.
